"Wait, hold on," I said, squinting at Frank Xia like he had just told me gravity was a myth. "You… manipulate the market? As in, market manipulation?"
Frank leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, a cocky smirk playing on his lips. "Yeah. Market manipulation. Haven't you ever heard of it before?"
I shook my head. "Nope. Never. Is there no end to the horrors you guys are capable of?"
Frank raised an eyebrow, apparently unimpressed by my outrage. "Horrors? It's just business, Ruth. A little strategic influence here, a nudge there. You make the numbers work for you. That's all."
"Strategic influence?" I repeated, heavy on the sarcasm. "Is that the euphemism you're using these days?
