It was a grey morning. The crown city was covered with clouds and it was raining heavily. A young man was walking on the sidewalk, he was wearing crisp and clean clothes. A sky-blue shirt paired with black trousers, and black shoes. In his right hand, he was carrying a duffle bag, while he held a black umbrella with his left hand.
His face could be depicted with one word, handsome, but his silver-colored hair, they were unique. Everyone would turn around to look at him one more time. However, it didn't seem to make any difference to the young man who had gotten used to such gazes wherever he went.
Walking on the damp wet sidewalk, he reached his destination, a seven storied grey color building. The entrance of the building had a big stone plaque which said, Crest City Police, Western Suburb Precinct. It gave off a domineering aura and subconsciously made the people quicken their footsteps. The young man took a few seconds to record the scene in his memory, before he entered the building calmly.
…
In the lobby straight before the entrance was the reception counter and behind the counter sat a middle-aged lady with a stern expression on her face wearing a Sky-blue shirt which was decorated with a few badges.
The lady was a police officer and the building was the Crown City, Western Suburban Precinct. The lady was about to get off-duty after finishing a night shift, when a calm voice entered her ears, "Good morning, Ma'am. May I ask where the Lieutenant's office is?"
The lady was fatigued from staying up all night, she raised her head to look at the person, but was stunned to find a handsome young man with blue eyes and silver hair standing before her. It was not until the young man tapped the table gently with his knuckles did the lady wake up from her stupor.
She shook her head and smiled a bit before asking, "What did you ask me? Sorry, I am a bit tired from the night shift."
The young man smiled and asked, "The Lieutenant's office?"
The lady said, "Let me check if he is in at the moment."
The young man nodded and she picked up the intercom before making a short call. Then she said, "You can take the elevator and go to the second floor, that is where you will find the Lieutenant's Office on your right-hand side."
The young man nodded and thanked her politely before he made his way to the elevator on the side.
…
The elevator opened on the second floor, and the young man encountered a middle-aged man who seemed to be in a hurry. He looked at the young man and then spoke grumpily, "Come out, what are you dazing for?"
The young man got out, and said, "I am sorry."
The middle-aged man did not say anything and the elevator door closed. The young man also did not take much of a notice and made his way to the Lieutenant's office. He knocked on the glass door, and a fatigued sound came from the inside, "Come in."
The young man pushed the door and entered the room. There were a few photos and award certificates on the back wall, with a lot of documents on the table. A middle-aged man was sitting on a chair with a file in his hand.
The young man said, "Good morning, Lieutenant, Markus Bones reporting for duty, Sir!"
The young man was called Markus Bones, he was a new graduate from the Police Training Academy of the Crown Nation. He was posted in the western capital of the nation, Crest City, for duty.
Lieutenant was taken aback by the sudden salute, and raised his head. He looked at the young man and asked, "Why did you arrive so early?"
Markus Bones was surprised he replied, "I was told to report at nine AM, Sir."
The officer looked at the table clock and said, "Ugh, I see, give me the documents. I will assign you to a team and then your sergeant will tell you about your duties."
Markus nodded and took out a file which contained his certificates and letters. The Lieutenant grabbed the file and he was a bit confused when he felt the weight of it. Curious, he opened the file, and found the Identification certificates on the top, followed by employment and qualification documents, it turned out that the rookie before him had a bachelor's degree in criminal psychology. He could not help but raise his eyebrow, after all, the young man was just twenty years old.
Markus Bones was an exceptional talent and also the youngest police inspector of the nation. The Lieutenant kept moving through the documents, and he found the medical and fitness certification, first-aid certification, tax forms, uniform and equipment undertaking, and then he found the certificates of crime scene forensics, and advanced weapons training certificate followed by martial arts training certificate.
He looked up at the young man and was surprised to find that this guy had already covered as much ground as he could. He thought to himself, 'To think this guy is a rookie. Looking at the score cards, he can level up with a detective already.'
He said, "I am Lieutenant Frank Masters, welcome to Crest City."
Markus replied to him with a smile, and then he watched Lt. Frank picking up the intercom and saying, "Sherly, come to my office."
Frank told Markus to sit down, but the young man politely declined. The latter was excited for his new job. Frank did not say anything further, and began to enter the data from the file into the computer records.
Shortly after, a young lady appeared at the door of the office, and knocked gently before asking, "Lieutenant."
Frank Masters raised his head and said, "Yeah, come in."
The young lady walked in and noticed Markus, standing at the side. She was surprised but then Frank said, "This is Markus Bones, new recruit, he will be under your supervision. Any questions?"
Sherly looked at Markus and then said, "Sir, may I have a word?"
Frank sighed and said, "Markus, could you wait outside?"
Markus nodded and tapped his feet while gazing at both of them and walked out of the room silently. He also closed the door behind him and stood outside.
Sherly saw this and asked in a low tone, "Boss, what is going on here? Why are you assigning me with him? Am I a baby sister?"
Frank looked at her and said, "You were the one who requested for a new hand on your team, right?"
Sherly frowned and asked, "But is this the best I can get? I mean, look at him, he is a kid."
Frank glared at her and said, "You were only two years older when you joined the force, and today you are acting like a big shot. Have you forgotten your own time now that you have climbed ranks? In the past six months, how many people have I assigned to your team? You guys are the biggest troublemakers in the precinct. Had it not been for the case that you are one of my own, I would have suspended Gemma for the misconduct last week."
Sherly fell quiet. Frank said, "He will serve as a patrol officer, you can assign him the blocks, and also if I receive another complaint, I will take action. Get going."
Without giving her a chance, Frank raised his voice and said, "Bones, come in."
The door was pushed open and Markus walked in. Frank said, "It has been settled, you can collect your uniform and equipment from the inventory. Sherly will be your new boss. Work hard, and be honest."
Markus smiled and saluted him as he replied, "Sir, yes, sir!"
He then turned to look at Sherly and saluted her will, reporting his name. Sherly sighed and said, "Come along, we talk and walk."
Markus picked up the bag from the floor, bowed to Lt. Frank and followed behind Sherly, who did not look very happy about his joining.
The lady showed him around the Precinct, the holding cells, the clerical bullpen, and the basement where they collected his uniform and equipment. They had a second basement, which was the dressing room for the officers.
Markus changed into a sky-blue shirt and navy-blue pants, before he put on a set of leather combat shoes and a holster.
On his left pectoral side of his shirt was a name tag. On his left shoulder was a body cam, and on his right shoulder was a small walkie attached with a hook and clip. He also tied up a heavy-duty cloth holster on his waist with a foldable carbon titanium baton and a taser gun tucked in.
He put on his police hat with a crown sigil on it, and appeared before Sherly, who was dazed for a second and said, "Come along, I will introduce you to your partner and then he will take you out to patrol."
Markus Bones nodded and followed the lady, ready to step out for work when a holographic window appeared before him, and a voice sounded in his mind "Ping: Mission Complete, successfully joined the force. Promotion to Patrol Officer, all attributes +2 permanent. Good work host, keep up it up."
