Chapter 20 - A New Day, New Challenges

The morning sun streamed through the windows of the office as Selena walked in, her steps steady yet her mind still processing the events from the previous day. She had barely slept the night before, still thinking about the flashback that had suddenly pulled her into the past. But today was a new day, and she couldn't afford to dwell on the past.

She greeted her colleagues with a warm smile, despite the heavy thoughts that weighed on her. Abigail, Loly, and Erick were already at their desks, deeply engrossed in their work. As Selena sat down at her own desk, she immediately noticed the pile of paperwork that had accumulated in her absence. Emails, reports, and meetings awaited her attention. It was going to be one of those busy days.

The Day's Agenda

"Morning, Selena! How was your evening?" Abigail called out from across the room, looking up from her computer screen.

"It was... peaceful," Selena replied, forcing a small smile. "Nothing too exciting."

Loly and Erick joined the conversation, both nodding as they reviewed their own tasks.

"So, have you seen the new project proposals?" Erick asked, sliding a few papers over to Selena. "We have a big client meeting later today, and they're expecting some updates from our side."

"Yeah," Loly added, "It's going to be a challenge, but I think we can pull it off if we stick together."

Selena glanced at the documents, her eyes scanning the details. The project was crucial for the company, and it was clear that the pressure was on.

Despite the tension in the air, there was a sense of camaraderie between the four of them. They were a solid team, working well together despite the growing workload. Selena appreciated having colleagues like Abigail, Loly, and Erick. They were supportive and always made the workplace feel a bit more manageable.

As the morning wore on, Selena found herself deep in discussions with her team about the upcoming presentation. They needed to come up with new ideas and strategies to impress the clients. Ideas were tossed back and forth, each of them contributing their thoughts and expertise.

"I think we should push for a more sustainable approach in our proposal," Loly suggested. "It'll appeal to the current market trends, and we can differentiate ourselves from the competition."

"I agree," Abigail chimed in. "Plus, it aligns with the company's vision for the future."

Selena nodded, considering the proposal carefully. "It could work. Let's build on that idea."

The day sped by as Selena and her colleagues prepared for their meeting with the clients. They spent hours refining the presentation, rehearsing their speeches, and finalizing the details. It was a team effort, and everyone had their role to play.

As the clock ticked closer to the meeting time, the team gathered in the conference room, waiting for the clients to arrive. Selena felt a slight flutter in her stomach, but she pushed the nerves aside. This was her job, and she was ready to handle it.

The door opened, and the clients walked in two men in business suits, their expressions serious and focused. Selena stood up along with her colleagues, greeting them with polite smiles.

"Good afternoon," Selena said. "Thank you for coming. We're excited to present our latest proposal."

The meeting began, and Selena's team went through the details of the project. There were moments of tension, but they powered through, answering questions and clarifying details with confidence. Selena could feel the weight of the clients' expectations, but she held her ground, presenting their ideas with clarity and precision.

As the meeting progressed, it became clear that the clients were impressed. They asked a few more questions, and by the end, they were nodding in approval.

"Great job, everyone," one of the clients said. "We'll be in touch soon. You've definitely given us a lot to think about."

With that, the meeting ended, and Selena exhaled deeply, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. It had gone well. Despite the pressure, they had managed to present a strong case.

As the day drew to a close, Selena found herself walking back to her desk, her mind still buzzing with the events of the meeting. The rush of success was satisfying, but it was fleeting. Her mind wandered, as it often did, back to the moments of stillness from the previous day. The feeling of time freezing, the warmth of her childhood memories.

Even though work was demanding, it was moments like these that kept her grounded. The satisfaction of a job well done, the bond she shared with her colleagues it was enough to momentarily quiet the ache in her heart. Yet, deep down, she knew that some things couldn't be forgotten, no matter how much she tried.

She closed her computer for the day, gathered her things, and left the office, ready to face another evening alone in her apartment.

A Quiet End

Later that night, in the silence of her apartment, Selena sat in front of the window, looking out at the city below. The streetlights twinkled in the distance, but her mind was elsewhere lost in thoughts of Alexander. She sighed deeply, wishing things could have been different. Though the memories of him were painful, they were also a part of who she was, a part she couldn't erase.

And as the night wore on, Selena knew that no matter how much time passed, she would always carry him with her, in some way, deep within her heart.
