Chapter 22 - Echoes Across Time

Selena paced back and forth in her apartment, her thoughts spinning wildly. The vision she had experienced the previous night was unlike anything she had ever felt before. It wasn't just a dream it felt too vivid, too real, as if she had actually lived those moments. She could still feel the weight of the crown on her head, the soft breeze from the palace garden, and the intense gaze of Prince Alaric Alexander's counterpart from the past.

"Was it a dream? Or was it something more?" Selena whispered to herself, rubbing her temples as if trying to make sense of it all.

She sat down on the edge of her bed, staring at the gold ring she still held in her hand. The carvings on its surface glinted softly under the morning sunlight. It was an ancient design, intricate and beautiful, but somehow familiar in a way she couldn't explain.

"Could it be a vision of a past life? But why now? Why me?" she wondered, her heart pounding in her chest.

Despite the confusion, there was a strange sense of connection, a thread linking her present self with that forgotten past. But what did it mean? And what role did Alexander play in all of this?

Selena shook her head, trying to push aside the overwhelming questions. She needed answers, but where could she even begin to look?

Meanwhile, in a Hospital Room

Across the city, in a quiet hospital room bathed in the pale glow of morning light, Alexander lay unconscious. Machines beeped steadily around him, monitoring his condition. He had been in a coma for days after the accident, his body weak and unresponsive.

But something began to shift.

As Selena experienced her strange vision, Alexander, too, found himself in an unusual dream. He stood in the middle of a vast palace hall, its marble floors gleaming beneath the sunlight streaming through stained-glass windows. He was dressed in elegant, princely attire a deep blue tunic embroidered with gold.

"Where am I?" he asked aloud, his voice echoing through the empty hall.

He turned around, his eyes catching sight of a familiar figure standing at the far end of the hall. It was Selena—or rather, a version of her. She wore a flowing white gown, a delicate crown atop her head, and an air of grace and regality about her.

"Selena?" he called out, taking a step toward her.

But before he could reach her, the scene began to blur and fade away. He felt himself being pulled back, as though waking from a deep sleep.

Back in the hospital, Alexander's fingers twitched slightly. The movement was subtle at first, almost imperceptible, but then his hand shifted more noticeably. His eyelids fluttered, and a soft groan escaped his lips.

Moments later, his eyes slowly opened, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings of the hospital room. He blinked several times, his vision adjusting to the harsh white light.

"Alexander! You're awake!" a soft, relieved voice said from beside him.

He turned his head slowly to see his mother sitting by his bedside, her eyes filled with tears of relief.

"Where… where am I?" Alexander asked weakly, his voice hoarse from disuse.

"You're in the hospital, sweetheart. You've been unconscious for days after the accident," his mother explained gently, placing a comforting hand on his. "The doctors said it was a miracle you pulled through."

Alexander closed his eyes for a moment, trying to piece together his scattered memories. The last thing he remembered was the accident and then, nothing. But that dream… or vision… of Selena as a princess lingered in his mind, vivid and haunting.

"Selena…" he whispered, his eyes opening again. "Where is Selena?"

His mother's expression grew concerned. "I don't know, Alexander. You shouldn't worry about anything right now. You need to rest and regain your strength."

But Alexander couldn't shake the feeling that something extraordinary had happened while he was unconscious. The dream had felt too real, as though he had been pulled into another time, another life.

As he lay back against the pillows, his mind swirled with questions.

"Was that really a dream? Or… could it have been something more?"

Despite his mother's reassurance, Alexander couldn't stop thinking about Selena. He needed to see her, to talk to her, to find out if she had experienced something similar. He had a feeling an unexplainable certainty that whatever was happening to them was far from ordinary.

For now, he closed his eyes, willing himself to rest. But deep down, he knew this was only the beginning of something far greater something that connected them in ways neither of them could yet understand.
