Finn wakes up with a severe headache.
"Where am I? What is this place?" Finn wonders, his head throbbing. As he glances around, he realized he was lying on a bed. The bed feels unusually warm. Turning his head, he notices a man with wobbly eyes and glasses. Finn realizes that it's the party's mage, Oren. Finn asks, "Why am I here?" Oren explains, "Well, you were actually lying in the backyard unconsious. Ronan healed you and brought you here. I am just keeping an eye on you, in case you need anything." "Please thank Ronan for helping me," Finn requests, his voice tinged with guilt. "I don't know what came over me... Elias gave me the cleaver and was training with me. Suddenly yesterday he asked me to fight some wolves. I was struck with fear. But as he uttered the word butcher my mind went blank." Oren smirks and teases, "I guess you are a newbie. Was this your first Psyche?" Finn blushes as he murmurs, "Well. I guess." "It's okay. Don't worry," Oren reassures him. "This is just a side effect of trying to resonate with a Psyche you're not accustomed to." Finn's confidence grows. "Well, that's refreshing to hear. So, why not introduce yourself properly this time?" Pleased by Finn's innocence, Oren smiles and begins, "You might not know much about me, but I'm a page at the Oakwood Library. I'm a war orphan. The librarian Eldrin greystone is my foster grandfather. He actually found me in the soldier barracks. My mother, a soldier, left me at the barracks before heading into battle. My father had already died and was a Intel gatherer who had important Intel and was tortured to confess. My mother, a widow, was very saddened by his death, but being the head mage, she still went to fight. Grandpa was the mentor and chief scholar of my father's military squad. Grandpa is now at an age where he could easily fall Ill. So, I'm actually aspiring to become a scholar and either take his place or rise into higher ranks. Also, I'm an apprentice mage." Finn asks, "I might seem like a total bumpkin here, but I only heard the word 'mage'. What does it refer to?" Oren in shock, says, "You can't escape this bumkin tag, man. I use my Echoed Codex. It's a tome–type artifact. It is a B grade ancient artifact that holds the knowledge of an ancient magician." Finn says, "What an interesting bunch you are. After meeting with you guys, I learned a lot about the Psyche." Oren laughs heavily and says, "Grandpa was right about you. You are a handful man." he asks, "Grandpa? How does your grandpa know about me?" Oren responds, "Didn't you hear what I just said? The librarian of the Oakwood library is my grandpa and he knows every nook and cranny about you guys. He told me you and a girl used to come to the library regularly." he emotionally says , "Oh! I didn't know that the librarian was actually secretly taking care of me and my sister." Oren says, "I heard what happened from grandpa. It is very sad to hear someone lose their loved ones to curses."
As Oren mentiones his sister, Finn's mind clouded with emotion. He almost rushes out to see her, but his inner resolve held him back. So, he doesn't falter, instead makes his resolve to fight even stronger.
As Oren sees his attire he takes pity on him and asks, "Finn, Do you have the resolve to fight the deadly beasts and monsters in the labyrinths?" he replies in the positive. Oren leaned closer, whispering, "I can let you in on a secret. Don't tell anyone. I heard, in the Chasm of Forgotten Souls as you go down to the tomb of the labyrinth's master you can find a garden. In that garden lies a flower that grows on top of a mountain of corpses. The flower is crimson red instigating the advent of the end times. It's the Nimbus flower. I heard your sister can be cured if you get the flower." Finn becomes so happy that he can't express his gratitude and asks, "Can I take it? It would make all of my problems disappear." Someone behind the door shouts, "That would depend on your performance."
Being surprised Finn looks at the doorway. Finn's breath caught as she entered. The air shifted as the door opened. Finn's gaze locked on the woman stepping inside—Nyx. Her presence filled the room like a storm waiting to break. Finn couldn't look away Her poise and elegance struck him as otherworldly. It was Nyx who shouted. She comes into the room. As she comes near Finn's bed. Nyx reveals,"I have a younger brother. He is the reason I'm fighting in this foreign land to get the Lachryma Aeterna a vile of tears that is said to have cured almost every disease known to man. My brother, Anvy, suffers from Paralysis of the Dead—a disease that binds people into their own body. The Pathfinders have Intel that they saw a golden vile of potion hinting at the tears. I understand the suffering you are going through more than anyone here." Finn somehow is very taken a back as an iron maiden of elegance could have a story closer to his own grief. She also says, "Finn just because I can sympathize with you doesn't mean I can just give you the flower. Taking the flower is another hassle to be discussed later but the flower could fetch a hefty sum in the Emporium's auction house. So, I can give you the flower based of your performance at handling the Memory Prism."
Finn clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. The flower was within reach, but the thought of failing froze him in place. His resolve to save Maria cannot fall short when compared to any hardship in the world. He vows, "I will do everything I'm instructed doesn't matter if I go mad or berserk" Nyx is happy as she smiles and goes off to the next room.
A short while after Nyx left, Elias enters the room.
