Elias enters the room. He looks at Finn with a disappointed expression and remarks, "Kid, I'm not quite sure how, but you resonated too strongly with the Butcher's knife."
Puzzled, Finn looks at him and asks, "What? How was it even that high?" "I don't know either. It's not even an artifact from the labyrinths. So, what could've possibly happened? Also do you realize why you had fainted?" asks Elias. Finn confused replies in the negative. "It was because of the forceful resonance. The moment you started using the cleaver it started to resonate with you. As the resonance grew, you became accustomed to using it. The problem started when I presented you the wolves. The moment I presented you with them fear started brewing inside of you and it could've acted a catalyst for the cleaver to recognize you as the real butcher. It actually turned you into a ruthless butcher who loves cutting through flesh and bones. For a moment, you became so frightening that the wolves wanted to run away but you killed them mercilessly. I think using such a simulation to train you was a bad idea. It was a double-edged sword. You could have lost yourself to the cleaver's madness for flesh and blood," explains Elias. Finn while assures Elias. Then Finn replies, "I have built up my resolve to travel inside the labyrinths long ago. It grows stronger every day. No amount of hardship can be compared to seeing Maria well." "Well. Kid, you sure do love sweet talking. Boy let your actions do the talking. Man up with your actions, not your mouth." says Elias. Finn understands the gravity of his talk with Elias and replies, "We'll see at the time of the expedition. Until then have a little bit trust that I'm not dying to some labyrinth." "Ok. Kid, I will let you have a bit of my trust over your survival. But remember this, those with overconfidence are the ones that the labyrinth devours like snacks. To the labyrinth, we're nothing more than nourishment. So, be careful from the start." Finn nods and replies, "Ok. I will be." Elias says, "I also have a theory that you might be able to occasionally fight in the front lines. But always remember we haven't taken you in to fight alongside us. Your only job is to collect the Psyches and the loot after we kill the Monsters." Finn knowing that it's another mediocre job for a mediocre guy like him nodded and went silent. Elias to encourage him says, "We might be the ones fighting, but you will be the one to actually keep the loot safe so rejoice."
After so much time talking with others Finn is now feeling better. He also gets that the cleaver was controlling him. That sends a chill down his spine. But he thinks what if going berserk is the cost of saving Maria. He tightens resolve again. As their conversation ends Nyx calls upon everyone to gather inside the living room for the briefing. Nyx starts the briefing,
"Listen, guys as we've talked about three Days ago that we're going to the Chasm of Forgotten Souls. So, the main factor lies in how much enthusiasm you guys hold right now. I've told you right that the Intel on the labyrinth master's tomb is in my hands? Well, I leaked it to the Emporium's hot shots."
Everyone is silent except Finn. He starts to speak between the briefing, "Uh! If you've leaked it, doesn't that mean they'll catch up to us before we even reach the tomb?"
"Novice worries as always." Nyx explains, "I spread the wrong map. Firstly, it has the wrong route. The route is filled with unnecessary traps and mysterious catacombs. Secondly, it takes very long to reach anywhere using it. I also have plans for us to follow. If we enter into the woods it would take approximately one to two days for us to reach an ancient teleport circle. It is inside an old building. My Intel gatherers have already spread the fake map along with the news that the tomb has an ancient mythical grade Psyche. If all goes according to plan we'll reach the tomb first grab the artifacts and Psyches along with some mystical medicine that might be of our need." So, the briefing finishes here as this is the day the party shall embark on the journey to the labyrinth. When night falls they shall start moving. The night time shall be their hunting ground.
Finn thinks that he should try mastering the cleaver's madness a bit. Elias agrees to help him. This time he brings out a goblin from the mysterious device and presses, "You see, you practiced killing a beast like monster yesterday but it wasn't a human type like a goblin they are far more advanced and cunning." Finn tries fighting it while visualizing butchering. He starts to go berserk like he did with the wolves. But the cunning bastard is acting as if he is afraid of Finn. The goblin starts to screech and shake as if he is in intense fear. But the moment Finn comes closer... The cunning bastard pulls out a dagger from his rags and tries to stab Finn in the heart. Being in a state of berserk Finn fails to intercept its movement. At the moment of stabbing Elias cuts its hand off and then instructs Finn, "Cut the bastard's head off." Finn's berserk state is shaken as he is in between rationality and berserk. Finn has never killed anyone and as the goblin resembled a human so much he becomes frightened and his hand is shaking. But Elias, "Kid, If you can't kill a goblin you won't be able to save your sister." Finn stepping on his emotions cuts the goblin's head off. He pukes at the sight of his deed of killing a living being. But it is a rule written in golden letters amongst the Memorists You either consume the Psyche or it consumes you. Finn doesn't plan to be consumed by the cleaver. It's his first weapon, and for now, he must master it.
