After running a few hundred meters, Shu felt that his legs might have a mind of their own.
He looked back. Damn it, the Honkai beast was still chasing him!
"What should we do? We're going to get caught if we keep running like this!" Seeing that they were about to run out of the small street and onto the main road, Kiana couldn't help but ask the four "external brains" around her for help.
She could see that once they reached the main road, the Honkai Beast would be completely unhindered. With only their long legs, how could they possibly outrun that big monster?
Theresa's short legs were starting to make sparks.
Don't talk! I'm thinking!
Shu's brain was also starting to burn. He was desperately trying to think of a solution.
"Auntie! Use your invincible Teiriri magic to think of something!!" A piece of gravel fell by Kiana's feet, and Kiana nimbly jumped over it, before letting out a scream.
"Teiriri's magic doesn't exist!" Theresa was also panicking. There was nothing she could do! "Even if Teiriri's magic did exist, it would only be used for cooking! I can't just fall asleep and wake up with that monster gone!"
Isn't that Otto's "magic"?!
Shu was startled, and forced himself to calm down.
Shu, think about the Hollywood blockbusters you've seen. How did people escape when chased by giant monsters? Transformers, Pacific Rim, Godzilla...
Argh! Why can't I meet someone who appears with a bang at this time?!
"Whatever! If it works!" Seeing that they were about to die, Theresa shouted in a fit of desperation, "Oh, staff of sealing dark power! Hear my call!!"
There's no way that will work!
"Beep, beep—"
A car horn suddenly sounded from the front. Shu was shocked and looked up, his eyes wide with surprise. Then he was almost blinded by the bright headlights.
Holy crap!! The old magical woman actually manifested?!
And! Screw those high beams!!
"Hi, long time no see, my dear granddaughter, it seems that you need some help." At the end of the small street, Otto was leaning lazily on the side window of a small pickup truck, one hand resting on the steering wheel, and the other waving towards them.
"Grandpa!!!" Theresa froze, and then shouted with joy.
"Waaah! Bishop Otto, please save us ahhhh!" Kiana was over the moon, and completely ignored her image as she shouted.
"Ahhhhhhhhh..." Shu was so excited that he lost his ability to form a proper sentence.
Listening to the cacophony of different voices, Otto laughed, turned his car so that the open truck bed faced them.
"Jump in!" Shu yelled. Kiana and Theresa, each carrying a person, suddenly accelerated after being twenty meters away.
Shu: "?"
Shu watched as the two white-haired figures leaped into the air, crossed a great distance and crashed into the truck bed.
Then Shu heard the roaring engine.
"Wait! I haven't gotten on yet!! Wait!!" Shu reached out, but his legs were no longer listening to him. In Shu's despairing eyes, the pickup truck sped away with five people and a hope for survival.
Shu: The true heartbreak comes not from screaming and crying.
"Wait! Shu didn't get on!" Kiana finally relaxed, and realized that one person was missing. She immediately looked at the rearview mirror to remind Otto.
"I know." Otto replied calmly, even smiling a bit. "He'll get on."
Shu slowed down. He felt like there was no need to run anymore.
I'm tired. Let the world be destroyed.
Shu felt something heavy fall behind him, but the familiar feeling of being crushed didn't come. Instead, he felt a huge force on his waist, and it launched him into the air.
Is there another expert here?!
Shu barely looked back and saw it was Kallen! Another white-haired figure!!
"Get ready, there might be some bumps." Kallen noticed Shu's gaze and turned to give him a warm smile.
Before Shu could process what Kallen was saying, Kallen suddenly leaned back, arching her body like a bow.
Shu: "Wait! Don't tell me?!"
In the car, Otto turned to look at the anxious Kiana and smiled, "If you don't want him to have a bad landing, you should go catch him."
Kiana: "Huh?"
However, soon, Kiana understood what Otto meant.
Because she heard a scream from the sky that echoed in the empty space.
"Arghhhh you didn't say you were going to throw me, that's what you mean by bumping, arghhhhhhh!!!" Shu screamed as he fell from the sky.
The tears in his eyes were blown back by the wind, leaving only a trembling parabola in the air.
He was about to crash. Shu looked down, doing some quick calculations... No, I can't calculate it!!
But my instincts are telling me that my chin is about to hit the bumper of the truck and then I'm going to fall on the ground!
Kallen! You missed!
This is my end!!!
Shu closed his eyes, terrified. He was then caught by an unknown force.
"Huh?" Shu said, bewildered, but he didn't dare to open his eyes.
He needed to prepare himself before facing hell.
"Shu! I can't hold you much longer!" Kiana's strained voice sounded. Shu quickly opened his eyes and saw the rough asphalt road rushing past him.
Shu was immediately terrified, and he froze, not daring to move. He could only stiffly ask, "Kiana! What's the situation now!!"
Otto looked through the rearview mirror and said, interested, "Nothing. Kiana is just holding you on the side of the truck. It seems like she can't use much force in that position."
"What about the others? Help me!" Shu quickly said.
"Wait! I'm helping!" Theresa's voice came. She reached out her hands for a long time, but couldn't grab anything, "Damn it! If only… If only I were 10 cm taller!"
Shu: "…"
Just then, Kallen finally caught up, casually picked up the silent Shu, and jumped onto the truck.
Feeling the truck shaking, Otto smoothly shifted gear, and the car sped away again.
