"Shu, you have to be careful!"
Running through the alleyway, Shu's ears still rang with Kiana's words as she said goodbye. A bitter smile appeared on Shu's face.
Who is it that needs to be careful?! Shu cursed internally, focusing on running forward.
But after only two steps, he was nearly knocked off his feet by a loud explosion.
Shu turned back in shock and saw the red and white head rising above the surrounding buildings from a distance.
"It's here already?!" Shu was startled and instinctively took a step back.
Looking at the direction, the Honkai Beast had appeared where he had entered. Now, Shu had no way of retreating to call for backup.
He could only hope that Otto had already left with everyone else. His plan was way too dangerous, and it was difficult to cooperate without any prior communication. Unless Otto was there, and knew his intent at a glance.
But would Otto come up with a plan like that? Shu didn't think so… Unless Otto felt that his value hadn't been fully realized.
"Whatever!" Shu roared to himself to boost his confidence, before running toward his destination as fast as his legs could carry him.
"The place Kiana was talking about…" Shu stopped at a small intersection, breathing heavily. After quickly looking around, he pinpointed his target. "It's here!"
Shu aimed at a door and grabbed the handle, twisting it.
The door was locked. Shu's heart sank. He looked at the firmly shut security door and gritted his teeth. "Why do you install such a high quality security door in this kind of place?!"
But words couldn't solve the problem. Shu knew that every second he wasted would increase the danger for himself and Kiana.
"Are there any windows?" Shu frowned and started looking around the house, trying to find another entrance.
It was said that God would close a door while opening a window. Shu quickly saw the window that "God had left."
Has that God installed security bars on that window?
Shu glanced anxiously at the security door and then at the security window. He gritted his teeth and chose the security window since it looked easier to break through.
Oh God, how I wish I could be a thief who could unlock anything in seconds! Or at the very least, give me the strength to kick open a security door!
Shu grabbed a bar of the window. When he saw the indentation on the round bar, his heart leaped with joy. A hollow security bar was much easier than a solid one!
No one would be crazy enough to install a security bar made of solid steel on a window, right?
Shu gripped the bar and forcefully shook it twice. The security window was firmly installed. Shu took a deep breath and climbed onto the security window. Both of his feet were on the bar, gripping another bar with his hands.
"Hmph—!" Shu's arm veins bulged. He clenched his teeth, held his breath, and used all his might to try to pry open the security window.
Luckily, Shu's hands weren't sweaty. After a moment, with a loud "thump", a gap appeared on the security bar.
Shu also wasn't able to restrain himself. He slammed onto the ground, still holding the hollow steel bar, and his face twisted in pain.
But Shu's heart was filled with triumph. He quickly got up and carefully crawled through the small opening.
Looks like a small villa… Kiana only said the general location of Mei. The rest was up to Shu.
It was ridiculous. Shu didn't know why he trusted someone's intuition so much. Did it even work? And he was putting himself in danger because of that...
I must be crazy!
Shu looked back at the small opening behind him and sighed before biting the bullet. He opened the door and went into the corridor.
There was someone outside who believed in the un-believable him… Even if it was unbelievable, he could not abandon that person's expectations.
"Forget it, I don't have time to think about this now." Shu carefully looked around every corner. He tried to open every door, and if he couldn't open it, he would shout before moving on to the next one.
After searching the first two floors without success, Shu's heart was uncontrollably overcome with a strange emotion.
"Could it be that Kiana was wrong?" Shu said as he was searching. "Or maybe… I came into the wrong house? No, that's not what I should be thinking about…"
"What I need to consider is where Mei would be… The door is locked from the inside, and there are no scratch marks or damage. This means that Mei was not chased by something. She closed the door out of instinct, and this is good news…"
Damn it… I can't conclude anything from this!
Shu shook his head. Suddenly, Shu's gaze caught sight of a dark red stain on the carpet.
Shu instinctively touched his pocket, finding that it was empty… It had contained a lot of medicine.
He had a bad feeling… This scene was bad.
Shu shook off that bad feeling and quickly went to the carpet. He squatted down and lightly touched the blood stain.
To his surprise, the carpet was slightly damp… This meant the blood was recent!
And the door was locked from the inside. There was someone here! But the blood...
That feeling became stronger and stronger. Shu's heart sunk. At that moment, a series of tremors rang out outside, pulling Shu out of his thoughts.
I don't have time! That sound was getting closer.
Shu took a deep breath and looked away from the rooms that he hadn't searched on this floor.
"Let's go… let's see how lucky I am…" Shu clenched his hand. That was when he noticed that he was still holding the piece of steel from the window.
Shu calmed himself, took the steel pole, and went upstairs, finally reaching the top floor.
She needed a door to be locked, and she was hurt, that means she didn't feel safe. She would subconsciously hide in the deepest part to compensate for that lack of security... Then someone should be there at the top floor... and in the deepest room!
Shu opened the door that he had calculated, and sure enough, two figures appeared before him.
"Aaaargghh!!" Two zombies pounced on Shu. He didn't have time to react. Startled, Shu was pushed to the ground.
The zombies managed to hit him. They grabbed Shu's arm, which was instinctively raised. They opened their mouths and bit down hard.
