Chapter 44 - Eliza's Boutique

Lilith

I stood there, leaning my head on his shoulder. I was nervous, going and buying a dress. I've never worn one before. I felt him tighten his grip on my hand as his guard, Victor, came around the corner driving the carriage.

Sebastian released my hand, stepping forward and opening the door for me. I blushed and shyly looked down. I bit my lower lip as I took a step forward. He took my hand in his, as he guided me up to the seat. I moved over as he climbed in. My thigh touched his as the carriage pulled out.

He leaned back, resting against the seat. He glanced at me as I tilted my head at him.

"The last time we were in here..." He grinned at me as he licked his canines. I puffed my cheeks out, folding my arms across my chest.

"Oh... Relax, I can't reminisce?" He teased me as I laughed, pushing into him. He wrapped his arm around me, pulling me into him. I let out a soft sigh as I leaned my head against him. I racked my head for conversation starters, but I was worried the questions I wanted to ask were too personal.

"He rearranged your guts, Lilith; there's no such thing as a too personal question." Lilly giggled. I shoved off Sebastian as I sat up straight, blushing a new shade of red. Jesus Lilly!

Sebastian tilted his head curiously at me. "Lilly talking to ya?" He questioned with a grin.

I looked up at him surprised as I nodded my head. He chuckled.

"Azazel does the same. It's a pain, especially if you just want some quiet, and they always chime in with some horrendous idea."

"Oh my god! Tell me about it? I was busy doing a patrol for a family in Estra and Lilly told me to kick the kid for being too noisy." I flung my arms out as he roared.

"The difference is, you wouldn't do it. I would. I would have punted the brat." He looked at me seriously as I matched his expression. He snorted and started laughing as I giggled.

"You would, wouldn't you?" I softly punched his arm as I struggled to breathe from laughing.

"Oh, little lamb. I made Sir Garrett run through the palace nude. Don't underestimate what I can do."

"Oh my god! What made you do that to him!?" I questioned as he adjusted himself. He sucked his teeth as he pondered in answering.

"Mmm... it involved another woman, didn't it?" I placed my hands in my lap as a pained expression crossed his face. He slowly nodded.

"Just because I managed to hold out till I was 19 doesn't mean everyone else does." I shrugged as I looked at him. He looked at me as he pursed his lips.

"Don't get me wrong... it was fun, but I honestly chased women because..." He paused as he broke his gaze with mine. "Honestly, it's because I was, searching to feel something." He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

"Ever since Azazel entered me, I felt nothing but darkness. I wanted to feel something, I tried a lot of things and nothing really made me feel..." He gritted his teeth.

"Alive?" I questioned as I peeked at him. He turned his head, nodding.

"I think... having beings in us is hard. A lot of people don't understand, they're us, but they're also not us. They mirror our deepest desires, but also have their own wants and personalities." I placed my hand on my chest. "I struggled with Lilly for a while. I have had her since birth, no one knows that though..." I paused as I looked out the window.

"Most warriors get guardians when they're six. But I somehow came across Lilly as soon as I came into this world. The struggle to understand the voice. The feeling of being different was horrible, but I wouldn't change it for the world." My lip quivered as I sucked in a breath.

"Lilly... is a special guardian. It's why I'm considered weak. But in all honesty..." I turned to face Sebastian. "I think she's the strongest. I wouldn't be here today if I didn't have her..." I glanced down at my wrists, the scars on them a reminder of my many failed attempts to leave the world. Lilly fought so hard for me when I didn't.

"I love you, Lilith, and I'll always fight for you. You're special as well." Lilly whispered to me as I felt her nuzzle me. I saw Sebastian place his fingers on my wrists, rubbing his thumb across them. I sucked in a breath as I looked away. He pulled my wrist up to his mouth, kissing it gently.

"I know that pain all too well..." He flipped his hand-over, showing deep scars on his wrist. I gasped as I looked up at him. He softly smiled at me.

"All that matters is we're still here and our paths led us to each other..." He reached out, grabbing my chin. He leaned in, placing a small kiss on my cheek. I pushed into his kiss as a tear slipped down my face.

The carriage slowed to a halt. Sebastian hopped out, going to my side and opening my door. He extended his hand for me to take. I slipped my fingers into his palm as he wrapped his around my wrist. He pulled me off the carriage into him, grabbing me by the waist and raising me above his head. He spun slightly, then gently slid me down onto my feet. He picked my hand up, placing a kiss on the top of it.

I blushed as a smile crossed my face.

"Expect more of this little lamb." He stood above me, placing his hands on my shoulders. "Because I will court you. And you will fall for me." He grinned a toothy grin as he looked down at me. My heart fluttered.

"Pfft! We'll see about that!" I laughed as I pushed away from him. He chuckled as he said "Challenge accepted my dear."

He waltzed up to me, tucking his arm, so I could wrap mine around his. I sighed, as I slipped my arm around his. We walked forward down the street as people turned to look at us. I averted my gaze at the floor as we continued forward. The nasty whispers slid across my ears.

"Jealousy is never pretty on anyone," Lilly snickered. I smiled slightly at her comment. Them? Jealous of me? Yea right.

"Hush girl! Look who's on your arm. Of course, they're jealous." I glanced up at Sebastian as Lilly whispered that to me. He was completely ignoring the nasty whispers with a smile plastered on his face. I leaned my head on his shoulder as we continued forward. If he can ignore it, then so can I.

We made our way up to the shop, halting at the window. He patted my hand as he released me to open the door. I thanked him and stepped through.

"Hello! And welcome to Eliza's boutique!" A chipper voice rang through the lobby as Sebastian followed through the door after me.

"Hello Eliza." Sebastian greeted the woman who stood behind the counter.

"Hello sir! Long time no see! You need a new waistcoat?" She beamed at him as she flicked a glance at me.

"Actually, yes, I plan on taking this lovely woman out to dinner soon, we both need new attire for tonight." He placed his hands on my shoulders, rubbing them. She pursed her lips as she looked me up and down. My heart sank. I knew what was coming next.

"Hmmm...." She moved from behind the counter, striding up to me. She pulled out a tape measure and wrapped it around me. I looked up at Sebastian shocked, he chuckled as he took a step back, letting her do her job.
