That's right, this isn't just any ordinary world. Here, people, and even other species, have the ability to gain special powers. It's something that's not exactly common, but when it happens, it's called "awakening." People who experience this awakening are known as "meta's" for short.
Our world is filled with so many different races and species, each with their own unique traits and abilities. Draconians, Elves, Atlantians, Robot people, Halflings, Aspens… did I get them all? There are probably more, but it's hard to keep track. It's a vast world with countless regions, each one holding its own mysteries and wonders. And yet, it makes me a little sad because, for all the beauty out there, I haven't had the chance to explore it.
You see, despite the huge world we live in, it's broken up into pieces. Each region is cut off from the others in some way, so if we wanted to travel between them, it would be nearly impossible. There's just no easy way to cross the boundaries between regions.
The only way to really travel to different places is with a special key, known as the Luna Stone.
The Luna Stone is a rare gem forged deep in the mines of our land. It holds the power of moon essence, or whatever it's called. It's strange, really—this stone just keeps growing, and the stockpiles seem endless, like it doesn't ever run out. Some people sell the stones for incredibly high prices, whether it's from bounty hunters, black markets, or fancy stores. It's a highly sought-after treasure, mostly because it serves as the key to a transportation system that connects the various parts of the world. Without it, you're stuck where you are.
As for abilities, they're only unlocked between the ages of 10 and 18. After that, it's like the window closes. At least, that's what they say. Some people are lucky enough to awaken, while others aren't. For those who do, it's often their hard work that makes it happen—though, honestly, I haven't had much luck in that department.
No one really knows the full reason behind all of this. Theories suggest it's tied to the First Great War, the one that happened a long time ago. But the details are all hidden, locked away. Locations from that time are redacted, and we never get clear answers. It's like they're hiding something, and that makes me frustrated. As a citizen, I'm not allowed to know anything beyond what they've told us.
They say the war was fought between two individuals—two of the strongest beings of that time. They were once close friends, but their paths diverged, leading them to a bitter and destructive battle. Their conflict shook the very foundations of the world. It's said that their fight was so intense, it changed everything.
But as far as history goes, that's all I know. After that, everything gets a little blurry. I can't remember much more. What happened after that, what caused the powers to awaken, or even if those two individuals are still out there—no one really knows.
It's confusing, I know. The details are lost to time, and the truth is still shrouded in mystery. But hey, I'm just a teenager, right? What do I really understand about history?
All I know for sure is that from that day on, everything—and everyone—changed.
