Chapter 43 - Prudes

Evangeline woke up slowly to the sound of rushing water, how come she hadn't heard it the previous night?

For a moment, she thought she was dreaming.

But as her senses sharpened, reality settled in. The crisp morning air was cool against her skin and with it carried the scent of damp earth and fresh pine.

She could hear the sounds of birds as they chirped on the trees overhead along with the leaves rustling from their branches and the sounds filled the quiet space around her.

A single four leaf clover shaped leaf fell and landed directly in front of her and she picked it up and brought it to her nose, it smelled of morning dew and musk.

What was she even expecting it to smell like? It was a leaf, not a flower.

She focused on the water once again, it was a steady rush that was smooth, like a river moving over stones.
