We drove for hours. It seemed going there took longer than it did for uncle Nick to come to us. Where is there you might ask. Why the lovely town of WhiteMeadow. It's where my mother grew up and where uncle Nick still lives. Mom always talks so fondly about it yet we hardly visit. Well now we'll be living here ourselves.
I don't know how long we were in the car. Nor do I know when everyone switched places. I smelt cigarettes and cinnamon spice. Cuddling into the smell and I breathed it in with a deep breath. "...Um dollface you're getting a little close there and your Ma' n Uncle will be back soon" I heard the redhead say, as he tried pushing me off his lap. I shot right up realizing I was just rubbing my face on his crotch. OMG IF MOM OR NICK SAW HE WOULD BE DEAD *SIGH* BREATH GIRL BREATH I knew I was a tomato at this point but I tried to talk to clear the awkward silence that was killing me. "Where are we?" I asked, trying to get comfy in the seat against the boxes. "This is Swindon, It's right outside of town. We needed gas and your mom wanted something sweet...You can still lean against my um shoulder…um just you know you were rubbing….too much.." the redhead explained.
"I'm good. You said we're close so I'm okay. But um can I ask you something else?" I asked, wrapping the blanket around me. "Of course, anything Dollface," he smiled. "What's your name?" I smiled. "Killian, But the guys call me King" Killian answered as he tucked my feet in the blanket. "AWE SHE'S FINALLY AWAKE!!!" Mom yelled as she got in. "Morning sleeping beauty." Uncle Nick said before he started the car. I laughed and pushed him with my foot. "Oh gross man I can smell you from outside." Nick jokes. " Oh P-Lease I smell better than you any day and you know it!." I laughed, sitting up.
"Okay kiddo I know technically it's a school night and training week and I think you have a test this week but I haven't had one of these in years and I want you to have one with me!" Mom said before handing me an energy drink with the biggest smile on her face. I sighed and popped open the drink saying "What the heck! I ain't gonna be taking the test now anyways,..bottoms up mom" We clicked our cans and drank. We both finished our cans in one chug. "EASY! It's an energy drink, not a beer. Good lord." Killian said. Nick just shook his head. "So why's it called 'Knock-Out' ? If it's an energy drink, wouldn't that be counterintuitive." I asked, examining the can.
Killian started laughing. "Now you're asking that. It's just a name Doll, don't worry you'll be fine." He said, putting his hand on my shoulder. They pointed out buildings the rest of the way. And told me stories from when they were younger. When we pulled in the driveway Luna was standing at the front door with some girls my age waiting for us. "Just remember Luna is happy yall are here but she does have two little ones fighting for space in her little belly so she's a bit cranky." Nick explained as mom and I got out of the car.
"When is she due?" mom asked, shutting her door as quietly as possible. 'Any day now…" Killian said, with a half smile. We grabbed what we needed for the night and headed inside, "Can you show them the guest house? Luna's having some pains, she doesn't think sleeping upstairs is smart." Nick whispered as we came in. Killain nodded and we followed quietly, The guest house had two rooms and a pull out couch with a full kitchen. Mom showered while I settled our things into one of the rooms. I went into the kitchen for a glass of water and found Killian on the couch with his shirt off tending to a knife wound.
"What the heck man?" I said walking over. He jumped stabbing the wound with the q-tip he was using. "I thought you went to bed." He said, like I wasn't allowed to still be up. I raised an eyebrow and pointed at his wound, "You know that's infected, right?" I asked. "It's fine, I've got it under control." He said angrily. I sat beside him roughly. *ouch* He gave me a look. "Do you want my help or not?" I said, crossing my arms. He sighed and handed me the first-aid kit.
I scooted right up to him so I could get a good look at the cut. He had his arm stretched over his head. The cut went from under his armpit down his side to the front of his rib cage. Luckily for him only parts of it were infected, I got it cleaned up with some alcohol wipes but I needed something stronger to knock out the infection. I noticed he was drinking some rum. "So um how much of that have you drunk so far?" I ask, as I got some bandages ready. "I just opened it, Why? You worried about me." He answered, picking up the bottle for another swig. "No um I need a shot of it to get the infection out…." I said, before biting my lip unsure how he would take that, "...Fine, just stop biting your lip, it's not ladylike.." he said, as he poured a shot for me and set the bottle down.
I grabbed the shot and soaked the bondage in it. "Okay this is gonna sting so you may wanna bite down on something." I said, as I turned towards him. "I'll be fine." he shrugged. I was sitting on my knees facing him now and he still had his arm back behind his head. I pressed the bondage on his wound and he started to cry out, his arm came down and grabbed me. He pulled my hair making me moan while I held the bondage on his wound. I avoided eye contact. He was staring into my soul. He leaned his forehead on mine. Our skin was lava.
Then he let go. I finished wrapping his wound and cleaned up the trash. I couldn't look him in the eyes again or say anything. He tried to but I left before he could speak. "I'll check on you in the morning, goodnight." I said as I ran out the room. I jumped in bed seconds before mom got out of the shower. She came to the bed and laid down. "I take it you're showering in the morning?" she said, turning the lamp off. "Yes ma'am. I'm too tired to stand." I said. I heard her fall asleep but sleep would not come so easily for me. I was freaking out. Normally I could just go for a run but I don't know this town and we've been riding for so long. It took a couple hours but after some time I finally fell asleep.
