Chapter 1 - Prologue

Tiffany's POV

"Tiffany….." I stirred, looking up at the figure of a man in front of me. My heart beat like hell, knowing exactly where this scene was going. I could already feel the tears congregating behind my eyes as I stared up at the figure. His hand reached out, stroking my face.

"Tiffany, I have to leave….. I want to become a man worthy of you. I won't be returning until I become one of the most successful businessmen in the world. Then I'll come back for you…." The figure pulled me in close for a final embrace, seizing the moment for one last smashing of our lips. Then he turned and disappeared into the thicket of my mind. My unshed tears began escaping, as his name escaped my lips.

"Cain… please don't go".

I awoke with a start, the tears on my face very much real as I fought to brush them away. Only god knows why this sop story would still be affecting me. Cain Serdon, my childhood love, had walked off and left me seven years ago now. That was the last time I had ever heard from him or spoken to him. That was our last kiss. That was the day I lost a major part of myself. Hell, we grew up together, our parents had been friends since before we were born, his parents took me in after my parents….

I sighed, what was the point of this constant reminder. It's just disheartening. I look at my bedside table. Locating my charging phone, spying the time. Four AM, bloody hell. I don't have to be up for another three hours yet, to get ready for work at seven for a eight o'clock start. Swearing under my breath I decided not to bother with trying to get back to sleep, it wouldn't happen anyways. Instead I decided I needed a work out instead.

I contemplated my choices as I walked into my built in to retrieve some sports leggings and bra with the added addition of a loose throw-over tee. Stretching as I went, I inspected my reflection in the bathroom mirror, and couldn't help scoffing at myself. Bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep, my long brownie blonde hair was a rats nest after the infiltration of that dream and the constant tossing and turning in bed throughout the night. Sighing I got to work. Washing my face and brushing my mop, at least until I was able to get it tide back into a messy pony tail at least. I'd fix it later. I needed a run and possibly a swim to try and settle my rising anxiety. Thankfully my apartment building had its own private gym and indoor pool. I could possibly handle a good hour to hour and a half on the machines, then follow it up with a half hour to an hour swim before coming back and showering, having breakfast and getting ready for work. I gave a laugh, wondering if Casey, my best friend and co-worker, would get her greatest desire today. With Christmas just around the corner, she could really use something fun and excitement, while I myself could use the peace and quiet from the constant reminder that the so called hot ass CEO was coming to our firm today to choose an assistant to accompany him half way, if not all the way around the world for the next three months. All I know is I hope its not me, because travelling that distance would mean planes, and I do not do planes. I would rather die then step foot willingly onto one of those death traps.
