Tiffany's POV
Those three hours actually ran to plan, I managed to get through my workouts with ease thanks to my music blasting in my ears for the first half. The gym had surprisingly been mostly empty. Well you would hope it was at four in the morning on a Wednesday by who knows with the gym junkies that live in this building. After my work out I had a quick rinse in the showers, before changing into a one piece black swim suit and doing a few laps of the indoor pool. The cool water had been a refreshing wake up call to my skin and mind. To feel the water rush over my body as I swam, it help my mind refresh. After about the fourth lap of the pool I had stopped to take a breather, taking note of the small groups of people beginning to enter into the area. These must be the regulars to the pool. With that I had exited the pool, grabbing my towel and bag of items before heading back up to my apartment.
Now I was sitting at my work desk, looking over the accumulated piles of work in my 'in tray'. Sighing I sipped my cappuccino. I had made it once I walked into the office building. I loved that the most about this job, they had their own push button coffee machine, with an endless supply of choices. The best quirks to this job; possibly not to our healths but I sure as hell wasn't complaining.
I took another sip, feeling the beautiful liquid run down my throat. Heaven.
Starting to skim read through the first document on the pile, I wasn't surprised when I felt the familiar smack of my friends arms and breasts smash into my back. Hunching me over.
"Casey, get off me please, your heavy". I breath out, as she just laughs close to my ear, half deafening me in the process.
"Aww, but Tiff I just really needed a hug. I was so lonely last night, you could have at least came to the pub with me, instead I had to sit through the family gathering while my brother flaunted his fiancé in our faces, I can't believe he found a hot girlfriend first, I haven't even found a hot boyfriend yet. It's not fair". I roll my eyes in disbelief.
"Well its not like you haven't had options, geez just the other day I seen Timothy from the other department undressing you with his eyes, and you flaunting in front of him like a show pony in a mini skirt. Or there is … what's his name?…. Jacob from the cafe, you had that poor man drooling over the counter when we went to lunch the other day. Poor guy you could have taken him out the back and had him begging for more if you wanted to, hell you had your big a** b**bs in his face as you leant over the counter. So why haven't you got a boyfriend? They both aren't that bad looking are they". Casey scoffs as she raises up of my spine, and gives me a playful tap on the shoulder.
"It's not that I don't have options, but they are more just for fun. I'm after someone extremely handsome … oh and wealthy would be nice also. Someone who can appreciate me in more ways then one". She stated as she leant against my desk, her mini skirt and white V-necked shirt leaving very little to the imagination, especially a mans. Sighing I leant back in my desk chair, crossing my leg over my opposite knee, turning the chair to give Casey my full attention, since she was sitting on my folder. I noted the amount of makeup and jewellery that she wore, and her black high heels. Noting that my normal business attire that was made up of long dark blue pants, white blouse and matching dark blue jacket, and medium heeled dress boots, definitely left a lot to the imagination. Especially with my lack of makeup. Just a smidge of powder and some lipgloss was about my limit.
"Casey, it sounds to me your being a bit picky. I'm sure these guys aren't all bad, besides you shouldn't toy with their feelings you could get yourself into trouble". Casey gives her blonde waves a swish before giving me a pouty face.
"But Tiff is it wrong to want the best?". I deadpanned, looking her straight in the face.
"Yes, because I highly doubt it exists. Beside everyone knows rich handsome men are either homosexual or complete a****les. So what do you hope to gain from that". Casey started to laugh, tears appearing at the sides of her eyes as she tried to bring herself under control. I could already notice some of the looks we were getting from the other co-workers in the office. I face palmed, pulling my chair back towards my desk and trying to extract my papers form under her bu**, as I waited for her to calm down.
"Oh Tiff, that may be true but seriously could you imagine the s*x, hell I've heard many stories about how rich man are fantastic at s*x, they are like Greek gods. Hell thats what I want, that and to be spoilt rotten with gifts". I felt my cheeks redden at the sudden turn in conversation. Why did I provoke this she-devil. I sighed, looking at her proud face. Making me chuckle.
"I hope it works out for you then, but I seriously need to get stuck into this work". I give her a smile as I push her bu** off my desk and towards her own. She gives me a dramatic pained look, as she covers her heart with her hands as though I just rejected her. I roll my eyes. She only walked a couple of desks over to Olivia's, there was a total of six in this part of the building alone. Then a total of three private offices and one reception. So not a bad area to work in.
I ended up finding it hard to fully concentrate over Casey's rising excitement as her and the short stocky brown headed girl in a business skirt and white blouse, talked excitedly about the visiting CEO. They went on to talk about the excitement of the challenge and how much of the roomers would actually be true about him. Then they went off on another spiel about how big his body parts are. I tuned out after that. I really didn't want to know. But at the same time it did leave me curious about who exactly this mysterious CEO was, hell in the three years that I have been at CS Tourism and Travel, I never once actually found out the name of the Owner or CEO, who are rumoured to be the same person. I shrug shaking the thoughts from my head. I have work to do, I'd be better off focusing on that.
I heard the fan girl screeches, only hours later. At least I'd managed to cull a couple of the documents and had scheduled in travel time slots to do routine maintenance and business checks on the businesses in these folders. Emails had been sent for notification and I would focus on those visits next week. Thankfully they would only be no more than an hour or two away. Sydney after all is a big place, but our job is to manage and maintain the business adequate of our adjoined businesses and resorts. Besides its nice to get out of the office for a drive.
The screeching got louder, as the whispering began to start.
"The CEO is coming and he is f***ing hot". One of the screechers stated, as she rushed to apply more makeup with her compact mirror. I blinked, turning to take note of Casey as she danced on the spot, jumping to do the same with her own compact and lipstick. Snorting I shook my head reaching out for the next folders in line, when the booming voice of a man range out over the crowd of gathered people.
Surprisingly the room had filled up with other departments also. But something made me stop, I blinked. There was something oddly familiar about that voice. I turned having no hope of seeing who it was from my seated position, thanks to the large crowd. The voice began again.
"I'm sure you are all aware that I am the CEO of this building and many others through the continents, now I have come in search of someone who can be an asset to my work load. This person will be required to accompany me throughout the different countries in search of new and old business locations, routine maintenance checks on some of our sister companies and resorts, while also being their to accompany me through board meetings and other business." I was really starting to get nervous now, that voice was so familiar, but it couldn't be could it. I stood, slowly moving forward, curious and terrified all at the same time. Who was it exactly.
"Now I thank all of you for putting your names forth for the job, but please be aware that this is a very important, once in a lifetime opportunity, so I have to choose my assistant wisely and by their qualifications that I best need on this assignment. So please, do not hold it against them if they succeed, even if they haven't actually put forward for the job offer." I stopped, gulping at that last sentence. Does that mean that I have a chance for this job even though I don't want it. Oh shoot.
I try to find an opening in the crowd and slowly try to advance closer to see who this voice actually belongs too. That is until he starts talking again, with our manager chirping in casually.
"So this lucky lady must come forth and go to my office immediately so that she can get debriefed on the assignment, and also to know who they can pass their original workload off to. Sarah here will accompany us in this matter, to ensure the handover is done timely and correctly to avoid any inconvenience."
"Yes sir, I will ensure those jobs are correctly distributed". Sarah states happily. I could just see her now but still couldn't make out the tall dark-headed man with broad shoulders that stood along side her with his back to me. Making me realise that the man was surrounded by almost every person in all the departments. Making me wonder why the meeting wasn't taken in one of our large meeting rooms.
I froze when he spoke again.
"Can Miss Tiffany Barona step forward please". I was dumb founded as people started clapping, cheering and some aww-ing in disappointment as they parted ways leaving me open and vulnerable to the tall man that just now turned in my direction. I almost choked. It couldn't be. I blinked, shock had to be imbedded on my face, as the man stepped forward towards me, extending a hand with a sided smirk on his face.
"Hello, Tiffany Barona, I look forward to working with you. I'm your CEO Cain Serdon". My heart skipped and I stopped breathing. How could this be possible.
