Today is the day, the day I'll meet the man who I was sold to, well maybe not sold to, but considering my late parents asked him to save their bakery and I'd marry him in return, I'd say I was sold to him.
Now here I am sat in his office waiting for him to arrive, his P.A. already informed me he was currently in a meeting.
My future husband, a man I'd never met. To be honest, I don't even know how I mustered the courage to approach this situation, but my late parents' lawyer, Louise, made it quite clear how my fiance wanted to see me, his investment.
"I need you to contact Nico Sandstone and let him know if he doesn't give me what I want, I wouldn't hesitate to get it myself."
A deep, gravelly voice rasped out authoritatively as he stepped into the office.I froze. I stood gobsmacked as the most beautiful face I'd ever seen in my entire life appeared in front of me. I just knew I had fallen in love right then and there. Forget the fact that he was the coldest looking expressionless male, and that his forest green eyes locked me onto the sofa I was sitting on, he was beautiful regardless.
"You can leave now, and ensure you get my message across", he said to his assistant whilst his eyes were still trained on me. As if receiving a new lease on life, the assistant scurried right out, poor man.
My attention was still on the god-like man in front of me when he regarded me, "Miss Wade".
He didn't even seem surprised.
I was at a loss of words on how to reply or to even react. I blinked back to my senses and just barely managed to stutter out, "M-Mr Steel". Shucks, I sound so unconfident, now he thinks I'm a kid, well technically I am, to him.
He seemed rather amused as he lets out a slight smirk, and man when I thought he couldn't get any better, he blew my mind with that little smirk.
And yes, you got it right, cat got my tongue once again and I did something mortifying, horrendous. For flip's sake, I squeaked, for God's sake, I squeaked, not squeal.
And then he burst out laughing like I just performed the most successful stand up comedy, man I feel like I should get a world record for making this handsome iceberg of a man laugh. I'm pretty sure I look like a cooked shrimp right now, I'm blushing all over.
"Have your seat, love", he finally said after he finished his bout of laughter. 'Love', trust me when I say right now that if I looked like a boiled shrimp earlier then now I looked like a boiled shrimp covered in ketchup with how red I am.
"I'm pretty sure you already know why you're here with me, or you're wondering why, aren't you love?" There he goes again with that endearment, I'm not mad at it though, but we're still strangers even if we're about to get married.
"Uhm…It's Adelia, Adelia Wade", I squeaked out, yet again.
"I know, love. Feel free to call me what you choose too, I'm sure you know my name, but since you already introduced yourself, I'm Ezekiel Steel."
"Okay, Mr Steel?",he shook his head in disagreement and mouthed 'try again'. "Ezekiel?", I inquired once more.
"Try again, baby". He keeps dishing out names like he's serving dessert, I roll my eyes inwardly.
Grinning I called out, "Zeke?"
"Alright, if that's the best you could come up with, I was hoping you'd call me Honey though", he said almost as if he was disappointed.
I was shook, not in a bad way but I think this CEO has forgotten his persona, is he normally like this or is he just like this because I'm his fiancee?
"Now, let's get down to business, I'm sure you know we're about to get married, well, I have the documents with me right here ready to be signed, but since I just let you know I'm going to give you three days to prepare yourself to become Mrs. Steel as I'm assuming you need some mental preparations. So what do you say, Soon-to-be wife?" He stated, retreating to his business like self once more.
Although baffled as to how he wanted to get married so fast, I knew it was inevitable and I pretty much already made up my mind to marry him anyways, I didn't see why I should take time to delay the inevitable so I just took to signing it right then. He hid his surprise well enough, but I could sense he didn't expect my decisiveness.
In just a matter of five seconds, I already became a married woman, I didn't even have time to be shocked, even though when I came here I didn't think it was to get married but it felt like the weight on my shoulders had been relieved.
"You're quite the surprise, love. Or shall I say, Mrs. Steel?" He mused.
"And more thing, just because we are married as a result of a betrothal doesn't make this any less of a real marriage, we're husband and wife, we are going to have a real marriage, you're going to be my wife in every aspect and I'm going to be your husband, fulfilling every of my duty to you. I'm going to be faithful, you can rest assured that you have me to yourself and I expect the very same from you, my beloved wife. And there is no divorce in my dictionary, I'll have you know that you're as mine for the rest of your life as I'm yours also for the rest of mine, there's no backing out. Also, you'll be moving in with me as we're now married, but of course I'll give you time to get used to all of these, but we have the rest of our lives ahead of us so I'd encourage to get used to me faster. So darling, how would you like the wedding ceremony?" He says all in one breathe. How he managed to send his message across so composedly and suavely mesmerized and awed me at the same time.
Wow!
