As they sat around the breakfast table, Tessy Williams couldn't help but ask her daughter Ruby about her relationship with her boss, Ethan Blackwood. "So, Ruby, how's it going with your boss... or should I say, your soon-to-be husband?" Tessy asked with a smile, using the term "son-in-law" to refer to Ethan.
Ruby burst out laughing at her mother's playful joke, and Tessy joined in, her eyes twinkling with amusement. Runa, on the other hand, just rolled her eyes good-naturedly and muttered under her breath, "she's just lucky." She was focused on eating her breakfast, seemingly uninterested in the conversation.
But as they continued to eat, Runa suddenly felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She tried to hold it back, but the feeling persisted, leaving her confused and disoriented. What could be causing this? she wondered.
Tessy and Ruby noticed that something was wrong and looked at Runa with concern. "Are you okay, sweetie?" Tessy asked, her brow furrowed with worry.
Runa nodded, trying to brush off the feeling, but it was no use. The nausea overwhelmed her, and she suddenly jumped up from the table, rushing to the bathroom. She barely made it to the toilet before she threw up, the contents of her stomach spilling out in a violent burst.
Tessy and Ruby exchanged worried glances, their faces etched with concern. "Runa, honey, are you okay?" Tessy called out, rushing to the bathroom to check on her daughter.
"I think I'm fine," Runa declared, trying to brush off the concern etched on her mother's face. "I'll just wash my face and come out and finish eating."
Tessy nodded, though her eyes still lingered with worry. "Okay, sweetie. But if you're not feeling better, you should stay home and rest."
Runa nodded, though she had no intention of staying home. She quickly washed her face and returned to the kitchen, where Ruby was finishing up her meal.
"Thanks, Mom," Ruby said, smiling at Tessy as she grabbed her handbag and phone. "I'll see you later, okay?"
Tessy nodded, waving goodbye as Ruby headed out the door. Runa, on the other hand, stayed behind, feeling a sense of unease growing in her stomach.
As soon as Ruby was gone, Runa made excuses to her mother, claiming she needed to run some errands. Tessy, oblivious to her daughter's true intentions, nodded and handed Runa some money.
"Be careful, sweetie," Tessy said, as Runa headed out the door.
Runa nodded, feeling a sense of guilt wash over her. She knew she was lying to her mother, but she couldn't bring herself to tell the truth.
As she walked to the chemist store, Runa's mind was racing with thoughts of what could be wrong with her. She had been feeling off for days, and now she was starting to suspect the worst.
When she arrived at the chemist store, Runa quickly grabbed a pregnancy test kit and paid for it. She couldn't believe she was actually doing this. She had always been so careful, but now...
As she walked back home, the test kit clutched in her hand, Runa felt a sense of trepidation growing inside her. What if the test was positive? What would she do then?
When she arrived home, Runa quickly locked herself in the bathroom, her heart racing with anticipation. She ripped open the test kit and followed the instructions, her hands shaking as she waited for the results.
As the minutes ticked by, Runa's anxiety grew. She couldn't bear the thought of being pregnant. She wasn't ready for this. She wasn't ready to be a mother.
Finally, the test results appeared. Runa's heart sank as she saw the two pink lines staring back at her. She was pregnant.
Runa's hand flew to her mouth, covering it in shock. She felt like she had been punched in the gut. Pregnant? How could this have happened?
As the reality of her situation sunk in, Runa felt like she was going to pass out. She stumbled backwards, grabbing onto the sink for support.
This couldn't be happening. She wasn't ready for this. She didn't know what to do.
