Henry Mitchell turned around and walked towards his own building, while Sophie Lawrence was still stunned in place, unable to come back to her senses for a long time.
After Henry Mitchell returned to his cozy little home, he walked straight into the kitchen and got busy. Sophie Lawrence carefully hid the file bag in her hand in the room before walking into the kitchen to help Henry Mitchell.
By the time the meal was ready, it was already past eight o'clock in the evening.
"Tomorrow we are going to install the massage chair for Mrs. Sang. Have you arranged your leave?" Henry Mitchell picked up a piece of food and suddenly asked.
Sophie Lawrence nodded gently, "Yes, it has been arranged."
Henry Mitchell replied faintly with an "Um" and then said no more.
After taking a bath in the evening, Henry Mitchell took a professional book and leaned against the head of the bed to read. Sophie Lawrence lay flat with her back to him, pretending to be asleep. Listening to the sound of the person behind her turning the pages of the book, Sophie Lawrence pondered for a long time and suddenly asked:
"If I really can't get pregnant again in the future, will you divorce me?"
Henry Mitchell's action of turning the page paused. He looked down at Sophie Lawrence beside him and asked instead, "Do you want a divorce?"
Sophie Lawrence clenched her hands tightly, and her voice was so weak that it was almost inaudible, "No."
Henry Mitchell moved his sight back to the book, "Since you don't want to, then don't ask this question again."
The sound of turning pages rang in her ears again. A tear suddenly slipped from the corner of Sophie Lawrence's eye, and that tear melted into the pillow and disappeared.
The next day.
After having breakfast in their cozy little home, Henry Mitchell and Sophie Lawrence drove to Mrs. Sang's place.
At noon, Mrs. Sang specially made Sophie Lawrence's favorite braised pork. But just as Sophie Lawrence picked up her chopsticks and took a bite, a strong feeling of nausea suddenly hit her. She immediately put down her chopsticks and rushed into the bathroom.
Henry Mitchell quickly put down his chopsticks and bowl and followed her.
Sophie Lawrence leaned over the toilet, retching, but nothing came out after vomiting for a long time. Obviously, her stomach was uncomfortable. Henry Mitchell knelt beside her, constantly and gently patting her on the back.
Mrs. Sang quickly poured a glass of water and handed it to Sophie Lawrence after she finished vomiting.
"Why did you suddenly feel nauseous? Are you feeling unwell somewhere? Do you want to go to Healing Haven to see a doctor?" Mrs. Sang asked a series of questions, her face full of anxiety.
Sophie Lawrence waved her hand, "Mom, I'm fine."
Henry Mitchell carefully examined Sophie Lawrence's face and suddenly frowned. A thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
The same thought also flashed through Mrs. Sang's mind.
The three of them returned to the dining table again, but Sophie Lawrence dared not touch the braised pork anymore. She just picked up a few pieces of green vegetables and ate a couple of mouthfuls casually, and then couldn't eat any more.
After Sophie Lawrence went to the living room, Mrs. Sang looked at Henry Mitchell, "Sophie is like this. Could she be pregnant?"
Henry Mitchell glanced in the direction where Sophie Lawrence was. His eyes were deep. But Sophie Lawrence was just nauseous and retching, and perhaps it didn't mean anything yet. He withdrew his gaze and said slowly, "I don't know."
Mrs. Sang didn't want to let go of any hope. After thinking for a while, she said, "Why don't you two go to Healing Haven to have a check in the afternoon?"
Henry Mitchell's eyes flickered slightly, and he replied gently, "Um."
Sophie Lawrence, sitting in the living room, didn't know what Mrs. Sang and Henry Mitchell had said. She was just enjoying the cozy feeling of doing nothing at home.
After everyone had finished their meal, Mrs. Sang pulled Sophie Lawrence aside.
"You were so uncomfortable just now. Let Henry take you to Healing Haven to have a look later."
Sophie Lawrence smiled and comforted, "Mom, I'm really fine. I just had an upset stomach just now. There's no need to go to the hospital."
Mrs. Sang patted Sophie Lawrence, "What if you are pregnant? Be obedient and go to Healing Haven to have a look."
Sophie Lawrence was stunned for a moment, as if she hadn't expected Mrs. Sang to associate this with pregnancy.
She knew very well in her heart that this vomiting was most likely a sequela of inhaling too much thick smoke last time.
Looking at the expectation in Mrs. Sang's eyes, Sophie Lawrence suddenly found it a bit difficult to say the words she wanted to explain.
At this time, Henry Mitchell suddenly walked over.
"Mom, the massage chair has been installed. Go and have a try."
Mrs. Sang quickly replied with an "Oh" and gave Sophie Lawrence a look before turning around and leaving.
Henry Mitchell gently swept his eyes over Sophie Lawrence's abdomen, "Besides vomiting, do you feel any other discomfort on your body?"
