Chapter 41 - Chapter 42

Finally, Sophie Lawrence clicked to end the call and sent a message instead: "What's up?"

Jason Lu replied quickly: "Nothing much. I just wanted to ask if Miss Sophie has arrived."

"I've arrived."

Henry Mitchell looked at the words typed by Sophie Lawrence, his expression cold and gloomy.

Back at home, Henry Mitchell left Sophie Lawrence alone and went straight to the bedroom to take a shower.

By the time Sophie Lawrence came out of the bathroom, Henry Mitchell was already asleep.

Unconsciously, the two of them fell into a cold - war - like atmosphere again.

After that, because there were too many things in the fire brigade, Sophie Lawrence had even less chance to have a proper talk with Henry Mitchell.

At this time, Sophie Lawrence was suddenly very glad that she had already submitted her report.

On this day, Sophie Lawrence had just rescued a fire with her teammates, but because she had been in the fire for too long, her body was a bit dehydrated.

Seeing that it was too far to return to the brigade, Mark and the others took her to Sunrise Health Center, which was the closest to the fire site, without hesitation.

In the end, Mark stayed to accompany Sophie Lawrence, and the others returned to the brigade first.

In the infusion area of the emergency room, Sophie Lawrence leaned back in the chair, her face pale, with a bottle of saline solution hanging beside her hand.

Mark's eyes darted around, a bit puzzled: "Why haven't I seen Dr. Henry?"

Sophie Lawrence had already checked when she came in. She lowered her eyes and said faintly, "Maybe he's in surgery."

Mark sighed and said with emotion: "Captain Sophie, both you and Dr. Henry are so busy, yet you can still be together all the time. It's really not easy."

Sophie Lawrence didn't reply, and her eyes were looking aimlessly.

Suddenly, a shrill quarrel came from the corridor of the emergency room.

Sophie Lawrence signaled Mark to go out and have a look.

Mark came back soon, looking a bit worried: "It seems that Dr. Henry has got into some trouble."

As soon as he finished speaking, Sophie Lawrence had already stood up and walked outside.

Mark also reacted very quickly. The moment Sophie Lawrence stood up, he had already reached out to pick up the infusion bottle in her hand.

When Sophie Lawrence arrived at the corridor, the scene seemed to have quieted down again.

She found that Henry Mitchell was very angry at the moment, and his words were full of rage.

"Your son's illness wouldn't have been this serious. It was you who were afraid of spending money and dragged on without treatment. Now you come to make a fuss. Is it useful?!"

The woman causing trouble looked embarrassed, but still stuck her neck out and refused to admit that she had delayed her son's best treatment time.

She held a teenager tightly and argued stubbornly, "It's clearly that your doctors are not skilled enough!"

The security guards who had been notified in advance arrived in time: "Dr. Henry, leave this to us."

Henry Mitchell withdrew his gaze and looked at the security guards: "Don't be too harsh either. Just keep them out."

As he was speaking, Henry Mitchell suddenly saw Sophie Lawrence walking towards him. When he saw that Sophie Lawrence still had an infusion in her hand, his eyebrows suddenly furrowed.

Henry Mitchell walked towards Sophie Lawrence: "What's wrong?"

Before Sophie Lawrence could speak, Mark had already answered: "The captain got dehydrated while rescuing people."

Henry Mitchell glanced at the medicine bottle held by Mark. There was still more than half of it left.

He reached out to take the medicine bottle from Mark and said, "Let's go."

"Dr. Henry, was that person really unwilling to spend money so she didn't treat her child?" Mark asked.

Henry Mitchell's eyes didn't change, and he said faintly: "Those parents only care about themselves. They don't deserve to be parents."

Because of Henry Mitchell's words, Sophie Lawrence suddenly stopped in her tracks.

The words that Henry Mitchell had called her "selfish" that day suddenly echoed in her ears...

Mark looked at Sophie Lawrence, who had suddenly stopped, in confusion: "Captain, what's wrong?"

Sophie Lawrence forced a smile on her face and shook her head: "Nothing."

Henry Mitchell took her to his office. The chairs in the emergency area were hard and cold, and it was uncomfortable to sit for a long time.

Before entering the office, Mark suddenly leaned close to Sophie Lawrence's ear and whispered, "Captain, I won't disturb you two."

With that, Mark waved his hand and walked towards the hall.

Sophie Lawrence lowered her eyes and turned around to follow Henry Mitchell into the office.

Henry Mitchell gave his office chair to Sophie Lawrence and sat on a stool he had casually moved over.

Sophie Lawrence clenched her hands and hesitated before speaking: "That child just now..."

"Henry." Suddenly, a female voice came from the doorway, interrupting her.

It was Chloe Morgan.

Sophie Lawrence subconsciously looked at Henry Mitchell, and her breathing became much lighter.
