Chapter 21 - trouble

[time remaining: 5min 20sec]

Seeing the timer reaching it's end jack was practicing his skills. Mostly blood decay, as it covered a longer range than decay. When he supposedly used blood decay, to perform the mass kill in Agathe. He could feel the insane drain it took on his body. But it didn't stop or hinder his movements whatsoever.

It felt like his nerves where disconnected from his brain that moment, being controlled by the system. It was insane because just as fast as it came did it fade away.

"I can only use blood decay 5 times before I exhaust my stamina." Jack had decided to test how long he lasted with 5 stamina points. First was running, luckily he was in a wide and secluded area so he had free access to run a far distance.

While running, he was surprisingly fast than he ever was as a human. Reaching meters in lesser time than a normal human. He felt like he was sprinting rather than running, cause he moved at a very fast pace.

'10 minutes.' That was how long he could run a distance, before his stamina was depleted. He'd tried overexerting his body which resulted in serious stinging pains, transmitted all over his body.

Fortunately though the pains died down after some few minutes, but he was still exhausted.

Next was testing out blood decay skill. He was lucky he got a beginner's guide to the system, or he would've never activated a skill. To activate and mainian a skill required not only deep concentration and focus, but also a wide pool of stamina.

Jack being a poor young adult before he died never knew of this stuff. As even in the games he played, it wasn't listed out in the description of skill settings and stuffs. But thanks to the beginners guide, he had a more easier and affluent bond with his skills.

'I haven't tried using blood decay while running yet, so am flying blindly there.' His body could only take so much, with 5 stamina points. and with the limited time he had, he could only do so much.

[3 minutes.] The system voice spoke in his head.

"T-thanks.." jack stuttered not knowing what to say. He didn't expect the system to help him out after the little argument.

[The hosts safety and development is my top priority. So any information that will be vital for host development will be provided if in my database.]

Nodding there was no further talk there, as he was now clarified the system would do anything to aid him.

"Wait.. where did the red river go?" Before he left, the river of ancient blood was still at this spot. But now it was all dried up, leaving no single trace behind.

[Having obtained the ability of the ancient bloodline, the river of countless ancient blood now flows in your veins.] The system replied with a tinge of excitement in it's tone.

"Really? But how is a freaking river of blood in me." Jack found it hard to believe an entire river of blood was in him. He only bathed in it, not drank the whole thing as that was suicide and not possible.

[The host intelligence is too low to comprehend. Please increase your intelligence stat to have a clearer view of the new world.] The system said in an indifferent tone, but jack could tell it was mocking him.

'You know, I can also tell when you're being sarcastic.'

[Wrong. That is only a suspicion and not clarity] the system responded earning a weird glare from Jack.

[Walker of world cool down time has elapsed! User can now use title effects]

Without hesitation jack instantly activated the effects of his walker of worlds title. The same strange drawing then formed beneath his feet, but this time he could take a guess at what it was.

'A bird?' He wasn't sure but it looked like a crow of some sort. Before he couldn't make out what the drawings were, as they lacked pattern and had no definite shape. But now they were a bit more clearer and gave him an idea.

"System are the drawings of random things or a particular drawing?" Jack inquired still not certain.

[Unfortunately that information isn't recorded in my database. And it is hard to make out from the vague patterns.] The system honestly said to which jack nodded.

"Azure kabal." He calmly said, making the drawing light up with a chilling ethereal glow. Getting much brighter by the second. He could feel the sands beneath his feet vibrating intensely. As if being drilled by a powerful motor.

The drawings disappeared along with the sand, leaving only an empty black hole. To which jack descended into. He was then transported through the familiar dark space, at the speed of light. Normally one would've been crushed or dead by this insane speed, but jack found it quite thrilling and refreshing.

Reaching the end there was another hole in front which he passed through. Protruding from the ground, in the familiar spot he'd once died.

'It's already dark?' Jack was surprised it was now nighttime in Agathe. He'd predicted it to still be evening heading to night, but he was wrong. The bright shiny rays from the sun was now gone, replaced with a more cool and luminous glow from the full moon.

'Can't I be transported in harum city directly? I mean it's a lot of work walking.' Jack complained. He hated always being transported to this exact spot outside the city. As not only did he have to walk to the city, he also burned the little stamina and time he had to spend here.

[Unfortunately am not allowed to interfere with the laws of the creator]

"Who is?" Jack had also been curious who the creator of this strange system was. He guessed it was that mysterious old man, but he didn't have enough proof.

[Error! Cannot provide information.] As always, the same error message flashed before his eyes whenever he inquired about the system creator.

[Body state: 10/30]

[Time remaining: 4min 39sec]

A few seconds had passed, deducting from the little time he had to grind here. And he also had to worry about his body state diminishing.

"I need new clothes." Jack muttered reaching harum city after about a minute. The disguise he had on was stained with blood, and giving off a foul stench of something dead. Which was bad for him as he wanted to avoid attention not attract it.

He thought of going to the city's mall but it was too big of a risk. He would be required to validate himself which he couldn't, having lost his ID card. And he couldn't sneak into the place cause it was crawling with security personnels.

So the best and only option he had was to steal clothes, from one of his unlucky victims.

'Why is it awfully quiet here?' Entering harum city he expected lesser people and activities, but not this. The streets were awfully quiet with very less people. Buildings that opened at night were already closed, and as if that wasn't worse. A cop car with two police officers were stationed here.

'This is bad.' Jack thought. He'd guessed the reason for this, was because of the little stunt he performed. And matters just got much worse with the involvement of the police.

'I can't get past without them noticing me.' It was dark but for some reason, the faulty street lights of harum city worked. Illuminating bright lights down to the street.

Thinking, Jack's mind raced on the possible ways he could go unnoticed but there was none. The street wasn't that wide, and the two cops were positioned opposite each other, patrolling the street.

'A stealth skill would be really helpful.' Jack inwardly spoke but received no response from the system.

'I hope I don't get noticed. But if I do, ha.. I'll just have to silence them for good.' There was no other option, and he wasn't willing to come here for nothing.

Steadily making his way down the street, he did his best to maintain a calm composure. The first guard could be seen up in front and coming towards jack.

'Stay calm, stay calm~' jack inwardly chanted hsi breathing a bit rough.

[Is this some kind of pathetic human initiative to evade reality?]

'Shut up!' Jack retorded at his system. He could see the officer was now just about four feet's from him.

'You can do this jack.' He reassured himself calming his breathing. Passing by, he could see the officer glanced a weird look at him but he didn't falter. Instead increasing his pace a bit.

'Phew.. that was close.' He sighed, glad he was past that obstacle.

"Stop there!" He seemed to have rejoiced too soon, as he was stopped by the officer. Trouble always had a way of driving him mad.

"Let me see your ID card." The male officer demanded approaching jack.

"Is there a problem officer?" Jack asked pretending to act dumb, turning round. Stopping the male cop then darted a weird look at jack.

"Didn't you hear of the mass murder?"

"Oh.. that. Haha, I did." Jack awkwardly laughed, which only made things more suspicious.

"I-i mean I did. It was very tragic, I mean what sort of monster would do such." Jack dramatically said in a sad tone.

"Yeah.. right. I still need to see your ID." The officer said, clearly not buying Jack's dramatic acts.

'Shit.' Jack inwardly cursed. He'd hoped to throw the guard off his trail with that act, but unfortunately luck wasn't on his side.

"I left it back at home when I decided to take a stroll. I leave just by the next street, you can come with me." Jack spilled out the first thing that came to mind.

"That wouldn't be necessary. Just take off your scarf so I can scan you." The male officer sighed in frustration, taking out a tab from his side.

"B-but my ID is not far from here."

"Take off the scarf." The officer frowned infuriated by Jack's resistance. The latter could also see the second officer was now approaching. Outnumbered, there was only one thing he could do.

"Fine." Raising his hands he then proceeded to unwrap the scarf.

"What the hell!" The male cop exclaimed in horror staring at an abomination. His hands reached for his utility belt, but a small red ball pierced through his chest. Where his heart was, potruding out the back.

He tried doing the same for the other cop, seizing the opportunity while she was still in shock. But unfortunately the latter was prepared.

'Bam!'

A gunshot sound went off as the officer fired a shot to jack.
