These people were Ava's father and step mother, Harrison and Angela Smiths, the new mistress of the Smiths's family. It seemed that Audrey had complained to them about what transpired earlier for them to be here.
Ava was still in the bed, lazily, when they arrived. Seeing the two entering her pent room, she didn't even bother to get up from bed. Since she was still injured from the silver fire, no one would blame her if she didn't give them the due courtesy.
"Dad, aunt." She called bluntly. From her acquired memory, she was unaccustomed to being close to them, so her manner was bland,a bit unnatural.
But the two did not care. They were used to it by now. In Angela's eyes, this girl was a completely twisted mind. Every time she saw them, she always stood aside and wouldn't speak, as if she was a mute. She didn't even dare to look at them, straight in the eyes. She was nothing at all like her sweet-talking sister who was caring and sensible.
When Harrison saw Ava, he naturally thought of her biological mother and his former wife, Sophie, from the Ashley family.
According to the rules of the colony, in high ranking families, mates were chosen by the family pack leaders.
Sophie was the wife chosen by his parents for him from the Ashley family in New York. The Ashley family was a well-known family in America. The Ashley monastic schools that was founded by them, couldn't name the number of talented graduates they had nurtured for the country.
More than half of the officials in the government came from their monastic schools.
So, the advanced education which Sophie received from a young age made her very orthodox. So, the leader of the Smiths house, Madame Mildred Smiths, adored Sophie more than any other wolf blood.
But Harrison Smiths didn't.
What he liked was a strong but gentle and charming wolf-blood like Angela Smiths. A lady who would be submissive to him. Who knew how to act like a young girl, and serve him comfortably. He was only after satisfying his machismo and ego.
Nonetheless, he got married to Sophie. But sadly, she became sick, and three years after giving birth to a daughter, she died.
During that time, the person that Harrison Smiths feared most in the family, his father, Alpha Alcott Smiths, also passed away. So he disregarded his mother's opposition of Angela, and married her. Since then, he had never taken care of this daughter of his.
A year ago, a royal-blood, Alvin, was matched to get married to a girl from the Smiths family by the Ultima himself.
Initially, the royal-blood wanted to marry their second daughter, Audrey, as proposed by Harrison Smiths, but was strongly opposed by his mother.
Madame Mildred was still the leader of the family. Although she had been living in seclusion in the wolf sanctuary since the old alpha passed away, and had ignored all family affairs.
However, after learning about her son decision, she came out of the den and scolded him severely, saying. "Age is an important aspect of the wolf lineage. So, order must be followed. You can't leave Ava and jump to Audrey. How do you want her and the world to feel? So, I say, no."
Upon hearing these words, Harrison's face had turned white like a paper. His mother's words were, undoubtedly, hitting him hard in the face, because neither was he the eldest son of the dead alpha nor was he born by Mildred herself. He was born to another lady, who died of mysterious complications after giving birth to him, and he was raised by Mildred.
Had it not been for the death of his elder brother Carter, after the death of the old man himself, the position of the Alpha would not be his.
His grandmother had made it known to him that there was no way he could replace his blood relationship with Ava, no matter how hard he tried.
After learning of this, Angela and Audrey were unable to do anything because of the power of Mildred, the Luna of the Smiths's family.
For this reason, they hated Mildred to death. The old lady had been against them since the first day they became members of the large pack.
Afterwards, Mildred had gone back to the sanctuary den and would only come out to ruin their plans whenever she felt like doing so.
Now, seeing Ava laying crookedly on the bed, her face burned by the silver and mistletoe fire, Angela felt the resentment in her heart easing a little bit.
She took a few steps forward, pretending to be concerned, and said in a sad tone. "Poor Ava, why are you hurt this way? Why are you not healing? Let me see what's going on with you."
Bloody hell. How come the mother and daughter were the same? They both pretended to care, but wanted to see her burned face so badly. Ava sighed inwardly.
She subconsciously avoided her stepmother's hand, turned her face away, and said faintly. "Thank you for your concern, mother, but the scars are not very sightly."
Angela smiled awkwardly. "What? Are you forgetting I'm your aunt and stepmother, just like your mother, who have seen everything in this world?"
Yea right, Ava thought. She slowly removed the neck gaiter on her face, turned towards her stepmother and said. "Well, what do you think?"
"Oh my goodness, the fire really did a number on you." Angela didn't expect that Ava would actually remove her mask and showed her the burn scars on her face.
When Ava didn't react for a while, she thought they would only argue about it like before. But after seeing her stepdaughter's scarred face, she couldn't help herself from displaying a look of horror on her face.
So, this was the power of silver and mistletoe on the body of a wolf blood.
