Since the small, burnt, penthouse was damaged, Angela called the construction company and had a new one rebuilt. With a rest of mind, Ava settled in her new apartment.
Audrey had not come to find her trouble in the past few days, so she was happy. She was reading books, admiring flowers in the large compound, and listening to the chirping sounds of the birds in her free time. She was having a happy life, and she had the right to regard this as a vacation. A stress-free vacation.
She lay leisurely on the recliner under the grape tree in the garden, deep in thought and dozing off for a while. She waa waiting for Alvis to withdraw from the arranged marriage, but why hadn't there been any information from him yet?
She was about to ask if someone should be sent to the royal house to talk about the annulment of the agreed marriage, when Samantha ran all the way to the grape trellis, breathlessly saying. "Miss, Mr. Meyer is here."
Was he finally here? Ava smiled with satisfaction and asked. "Who did the royal house send with him?"
"He came alone, Miss," Samantha replied, "Miss, he's asking for you."
Ava thought for a while, stood up and adjusted her dress. She put on a face mask, and said to her maid. "Let's go."
Coming to the guest reception area, Ava found that besides her father, Angela and Audrey were also there, as well as a tall, medium built man in black Armani suit who was sipping on red wine. His glowing white eyes were sign of his royal wolf blood. .
Presumably this was Alvis, the only wolf blood from the previous ultima. Ava glanced at him secretly. He was with handsome features and extraordinary bearing. After all, he was of a royal blood. Yet, there was something about him not appealing to her.
When Alvis heard someone coming, he turned around casually. He saw a slim and beautiful woman walking through the door. White t-shirt on a blue jeans, a mask on her face. What more, the warm light of the setting sun shone on her, like a fairy diva.
The young royal blood looked a little stunned, but it was only for a moment. He hadn't forgotten his purpose of coming today. Because of the bad reputation circulating in the city about Ava's stupidity and silliness, he had always rejected this proposed marriage with disgust.
Since getting along with Ava's sister, Audrey, he was determined to nullify the arrangement. It was just that there wasn't always a reason for him to cancel an arranged marriage by the Ultima himself. Now that he had finally found a reason, he certainly wouldn't give it up.
So, as soon as he saw her today, he realized she wasn't as unbearable as people portrayed her to be. But why was she using a neck gaiter? Probably, it was true that her face had been damaged by the silverfire. If he married an ugly wolf-blood as his wife, how could he have pride among his own pack, friends and family unit?
Ava stepped forward to greet them before stepping aside.
Harrison said to Ava in a lower tone, clearly embarrassed. "Ava, Mr. Meyer is here to cancel the arranged marriage, as you can see..."
If her grandfather was alive, he would have cursed and fought hard for the arbitrary cancellation of the arranged marriage, but her own father did not dare. His background created his cautious character. He believed he would offend the royal house. So she had to face this embarrassment by herself.
Ava smiled slightly and said. "Dad, since he has come to cancel the marriage, he must have his reasons, and I believe it can't be too difficult for him to say what he thinks."
Alvis looked at Ava and shook his head. Seeing Ava's smiling purple eyes, he found that he couldn't look away, even for a second. He was transfixed.
Harrison had to quip in. "Ava, you have to think this through clearly. Marriage among wolf bloods come with a partnership commitment. Mr. Meyer is the only one interested in marrying you. If this marriage is put off, considering your appearance now, you will never be able to mate in the future. You will be..."
"Dad, since he's unwilling to marry me, if we forcefully fulfill the marriage arrangement, how will I ever be happy afterwards? So, we just have to accept his decision." Ava replied resolutely.
"Never mind." Seeing Ava's determination, her father agreed to follow the decision. Anyway, he didn't even think about fighting for Ava, and had a fight with the royal house was futile.
Seeing that he had successfully cancel the arranged marriage, Alvis exchanged glances with Audrey on the opposite side. The two of them thought their acts were concealed, but they happened to be seen by Ava and she thought to herself: when did these two even meet?
She searched the memory of the original owner, but all to no avail.
Then, Alvis stood up and said. "Mr. Smiths, beside the cancellation of the marriage, there is one more thing I want to ask for."
"Oh, what's that, Mr. Meyer?" Mr. Smiths asked.
"I will like to marry Audrey, your second daughter."
Alvis's words were like a thunderbolt. Harrison opened his mouth wide in shock, not knowing how to respond. Angela looked at Alvis and Audrey, exuberantly joyful.
While Audrey stared at Alvis with a shy expression, Ava sneered inwardly. What's wrong with this guy? He just cancel his arranged marriage with her, and immediately proposed to marry her sister? Did he hate her that much?
In fact, Alvis made that decision because he was really disgusted with the arrangged marriage with Ava. He was a meta wolf, with high self-esteem, and naturally his wife should be a beautiful and outstanding woman, of his own choosing. but the Ultima had chosen Ava for him.
A woman who now appeared to him as a mediocre and ordinarily plain wolf-blood.
So, he was naturally unwilling to marry her.
In terms of appearance, and wolf strength, Audrey basically met his requirements. But it was a pity that Audrey was not the first daughter of the Smiths's family, so she could never bear the royal name of his house. But what did it matter?
In Audrey's view, as long as she could grab anything from Ava and prevent her from being happy, she would be content.
Now Ava was disfigured, and her arranged marriage had ended. More importantly, her original supposedly future mate was now her own. Audrey couldn't be happier in her life as today.
Mr. Smiths also remained indignant about Alvis's refusal to marry his eldest daughter but nodded to the proposal to marry his second daughter, at least it would be a true mate.
As for him, it would not make any difference whether the royal wolf-blood married his eldest daughter or the second daughter. He only wanted good relationship with the tree of royal house for future favours.
Hence, Mr. Smiths quickly agreed to Alvis's request.
After seeing Alvis off, and watching Angela and Audrey return to the room happily, he couldn't help being a little sorry for Ava. The expression of resignation on Ava's face, pulled the guilty strings of his heart.
After hearing the news, Madame Mildred almost exploded with anger. Alvis Meyer was really arrogant with power. He was doing whatever he liked, and he simply didn't put the Smiths family in high regards.
After she calmed down, she asked Miss Celine to find her son.
Mr. Smiths stayed in the old lady's apartment hall for a long time, and came out with a sullen face. On the second day, he sent a letter to the Ultima, requesting him to marry off his eldest daughter as originally promised.
In fact, this was her idea. She was also thinking about Ava's situation. Her appearance was now ruined, she had been refused in marriage, and her age was no longer below the youthful levels.
At a time when wolf-bloods focused on the she-wolves' reputation and appearance, especially in regards to the royal family, she seemed to have no advantage. If he asked for an arranged marriage from the Ultima himself, he could find a decent future for his daughter.
After Ava heard the news of the second proposed marriage, she almost fainted.
Although her grandmother had her best interest in mind when she proposed another marriage on her behalf, she didn't want to consider another mate so soon.
She still had a lot of things left to do, such as making money. She heard from Lindsey that her mother had left a large sum of money for her before her death, including the shop at the Broadway alley. She had a lot to do.
Moreover, she had to research and study ways to go back to her own world. She had no time to deal with this trivial matter of a wolf-mate.
But she underestimated the efficiency of the Ultima.
