Chapter 2 - Ch 2: Infinite Land Star

Eryx slowly opened his eyes and suddenly felt the chill of cold ground beneath him. His head felt heavy, and a slight dizziness attacked his mind as well.

"What happened?" He frowned with some difficulty, trying to clear his mind.

The air was thick and heavy, making it a bit hard for him to breathe as he sat up to look around.

"This... What is this place?"

"Where am I?"

He was in a place he had never seen before, yet somehow, this place gave him a strong sense of familiarity. It was quite strange. He was sure he had never been to this place, so why did this bizarre sense of familiarity appear in his mind?

As he looked around, the first thing that caught his attention was the ominous red sky. The ominous sky was deep red, stretching endlessly above his head. It was more like a world drenched in sunset but without the warmth.

No wonder he felt a chill the moment he woke up.

As he observed, he saw dark clouds swirling across the sky, glowing faintly as though they were lit by fading fires, casting eerie shadows over everything around him.

Everywhere he looked, Eryx could see massive cracks in the sky. There were not just one or two cracks, the sky seemed to be filled with these cracks. These cracks also didn't appear disordered; they seemed to follow a pattern, almost like veins running across the sky.

It is quite strange, isn't it?

This was the first time Eryx saw something like this, yet he already appeared to be aware that the cracks in the sky were following a veins-like pattern.

Although massive, these cracks formed a vortex of their own, and through these vortexes, Eryx could see flashes of different colors. Some were dark blue, some were bright green, and some were icy white. It was almost like he was looking into other worlds through each vortex.

This was true of the sky, but the land was even worse.

The ground under Eryx was dry and cracked, stretched out lifelessly as far as he could see. Here and there, he can see blackened tree stumps sticking up. They were twisted and burned. They appeared like ghostly fingers reaching toward the blood-red sky.

There were no sounds of birds or leaves moving. The entire world appeared to be completely silent. If there was any sound, then it was a low, distant rumble that sometimes broke the silence.

In the near distance, Eryx noticed several ruined buildings jutting out from the ground at odd angles. Some were half-buried in the earth, while others leaned dangerously. Their edges were jagged and sharp.

There were also broken statues and crumbled walls that clearly hinted that this place had once been grand and perhaps even beautiful. But now, only empty ruins were left behind.

"Just what is this place?"

A strange chill crawled up his spine, and his mind reeled with questions.

Where was he?

How had he come to this twisted and broken land?

An unknown fear dwelled within his heart, bringing a chill running down his spine. Eryx's body quivered with just the thought of standing in this ghostly land.

"Arghhh~"

Eryx suddenly cried out loud and held his hand. An intense and excruciating pain shot through his brain. His face turned pale, and tiny beads of sweat dripped down his forehead.

A series of foreign memories suddenly flooded his mind. Unfamiliar images started flashing in front of his eyes, as if he was watching a movie.

However, unlike movies, these images integrated with his own, becoming a part of his own memories.

These flashes of memories and sensations that weren't his own soon defined a life that he never lived.

Nonetheless, this experience also made him feel like a swarm of ants was attacking his brain. It was a horrific experience.

When the pain subsided, Eryx understood several things including the fact that he was no longer on Earth. This was an entirely different world, and he was not his usual self.

"I… I have transmigrated!"

Eryx was shocked!

This world was called Infinite Land Star, and though it was his first time here, the memories that suddenly flooded his mind gave him basic information about this world.

Infinite Land Star was not an ordinary world. It is a Cultivation World where people can fly, shatter mountains with a single punch, overthrow the rivers and seas, and do more of those things only described in novels back on earth.

About a thousand years ago, just as the sky of Earth cracked, massive cracks appeared in the sky of this world as well. The appearance of these cracks caused the sun to disappear and the sky to turn red.

Unlike what happened on Earth, no monster invaded the Infinite Land Star. Instead, the massive cracks formed into vortexes, becoming portals connected to myriads of different worlds. Each portal can lead a person to an entirely new world.

Although no monster descended here, the atmosphere of this world changed completely. There was no longer sun here. The only source of light was the red sky and those multicolored lights that reflected out of the cracks stretching across the sky like deep scars.

For more than a thousand years, Infinite Land Star had been scarred this way. The sudden change of atmosphere changed countless things.

One major change was the density of Qi also known as Spirit Energy.

Qi and Spirit Energy are the same. People from different worlds like to call it out differently. Infinite Land Star has always called the mysterious energy found in the air Qi.

Talking about people from different worlds, after the portals were formed, they can enter the Infinite Land Star, and enjoy the resources here to train and become powerful.

However, for some mysterious reason, people from the Infinite Land Star cannot enter those worlds.

Many have tried, but all failed without a single person succeeding.

It was as if a mysterious restriction was there, blocking people of this world from entering other worlds.

Over the course of a thousand years, people from different worlds have already established their bases here. They also captured large pieces of land to rule.

Infinite Land Star has the word "infinite" in its name because there was no lack of land here. This world seems to be endlessly huge, spreading far wide. Even after countless foreign worlds invaded and captured the land of this world to rule, more than 70% of the land in this world was still filled with countless forests, rivers, oceans, mountains, and other such natural landscapes.

It is simply too big, and that's the reason not many people raised their voices to stand against the invasion of alien people.
