Chapter 3 - Ch 3: Mission: Rob a Grave

According to the memories, his name was still Eryx Devlin. He was a member of the Devlin family, a very wealthy and powerful family, but they had abandoned him because he lacked the talent for cultivation, which, in this world, means everything to a person and family.

In the Infinite Land Star, strength and cultivation were everything. Without it, people were seen as weak and useless. Eryx's family felt the same way, so they pushed him aside, kicking him out of the family three days ago.

Unlike what Eryx had read in novels, although cultivation talent has ranks, the most basic of having a talent for cultivation simply means determining whether a person can cultivate or not.

There can be several reasons why a person is unable to cultivate!

Eryx couldn't cultivate due to his blocked veins.

It is not like there are no solutions. A powerful warrior can easily open blocked veins with their potent Qi. The Devlin family also has such powerful experts. It is just that they were not willing to open Eryx's blocked veins.

Why, you ask?

Simply because Eryx is not a true Devlin. He was adopted by Kalen Devlin, who found him abandoned by the riverside when he was only a few months old. Kalen took him in and gave him the surname Devlin.

Now that Kalen, an ordinary member of the Devlin Family, was dead, Eryx was kicked out for not having Devlin's blood running through his veins.

No one cared about him anymore.

For five entire days, Eryx roamed everywhere in search of food. He even begged, but no one showed him any mercy. In the end, he dies of hunger, and then "Eryx" transmigrates into this body.

From the memories that flooded his mind, Eryx obtained information related to cultivation.

Normally, just like in the generic novels Eryx had read, cultivation was divided into many realms: the Qi Refinement Realm, Foundation Establishment Realm, Core Formation Realm, and more.

However, for people like him, born with blocked veins, there was an additional cultivation realm known as the Vein Awakening Realm.

Only after cultivating in the Vein Awakening Realm could a person with blocked veins begin cultivating Qi and enter the Qi Refinement Realm.

In the Infinite Land Star, no one knows when cultivation was first introduced, but millions of years have certainly passed.

In all these years, how could experts not have thought of solutions for blocked veins aside from using their potent Qi to forcefully open them?

They developed the Vein Awakening Realm to provide a pathway for those born with blocked veins. This realm allowed individuals to gradually open their blocked "spiritual veins", allowing Qi to flow within them and connecting them to the world's energy.

Eryx knew about the Vein Awakening Realm but was still unable to open his blocked veins, simply because this realm required a unique energy source that he did not possess. To awaken the blocked veins, one needed a rare elixir called Vein Purifying Herb, or a special technique passed down for generations.

Kalen was only an ordinary member of the Devlin Family, with enough money to eat three times a day and sleep comfortably. How could he afford to buy a Vein Purifying Herb for Eryx?

As for the Devlin Family, why would they care about a person who doesn't have the blood of Devlins flowing within his body?

"This is troublesome! What should I do?" Eryx frowned.

Indeed, this is a troublesome matter. This world is a cultivation world where a person needs to have strength to survive. Even cultivators with high cultivation realms are killed daily everywhere. He is just an ordinary person. If he wants to survive in this world, he needs to cultivate no matter what.

The question is, how?

If cultivation was that easy, the previous owner of this body wouldn't have died.

While he was still thinking of a solution, he suddenly heard a voice inside his head.

Ding!

[Synchronization complete!]

[Registering user...]

[User, Eryx Xylaris, registered!]

Eryx's eyes widened when he saw these lines appearing in front of his eyes. He tried to touch them, only for his hand to pass through without touching anything.

"Is my cheat already here?" Neo spoke with trembling lips.

As a devoted reader of novels, Eryx was already familiar with the "Ding" sound. Now that a bizarre event like his transmigration had occurred, why couldn't a system appear in his mind to make his future easier?

But still, he was very excited. The idea of having a system made him hopeful. He imagined how easy things would be now that he had one.

With the system's help, he could learn faster, gain powerful abilities, and even find treasures.

Eryx felt a rush of energy at the thought.

"S-status," he spoke in a trembling tone.

Immediately, a light flashed before his eyes, and an information panel materialized that only he could see.

[Eryx Xylaris]

[Cultivation: None]

[Bloodline: None]

[System Objective: Treasure Hunt]

[Quest: Complete your first treasure hunt.]

Eryx opened his eyes wide in surprise.

First of all, the system showed his name was Eryx Xylaris instead of Eryx Devlin. It is clear that Xylaris is this body's true family name.

He saw that he had no cultivation and no bloodline.

Then there was System's goal which made him frown. As he focused on this attribute, detailed information appeared in front of his eyes.

[System Objective: Treasure Hunt]

System's Objective is to make the Host the world's most renowned treasure hunter. Your path will be filled with hidden relics, legendary artifacts, and rare treasures. Seek, discover, and claim what others only dream of finding.

Truth be told, Eryx's eyes immediately lit up when he read the text floating before his eyes.

Doesn't it mean he can hunt treasures?

Excitedly, he glanced at the Quest's section that gave him a mission to complete his first treasure hunt.

Eryx felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. The biggest question now was where he would go to find the treasure.

"Hey, system. Tell me where I should go to hunt for treasures?"

This place was eerie and destroyed. There shouldn't be any treasure here. In the end, Eryx had no choice but to ask the system for help.

And what appeared in front of him was…

[Quest: Complete your first treasure hunt.]

﹂ Mission 1: Hunt for treasures in the grave located 300 meters away.

﹂ Reward: Unknown.

At the same time, a map appeared in Eryx's mind, showing the path to the grave.

Eryx was startled.

Isn't the system indirectly asking him to rob a grave?
