Chapter 13: Shocking Deeds!
After calming down from the shock and fear, Arohan took a deep breath and then turned the page.
His eyes immediately popped out in shock, and his body began to tremble from fear, and a sense of anger rose out of nowhere in his heart.
On the page, there was a drawn picture that contained gore, so disgusting that just looking at its picture would feel like dying.
Below the picture, the content of the picture was explained in detail, and Arohan almost vomited in shock just after reading the first line.
According to the details, it was a sacrificial ceremony that was conducted four hundred years ago by a cult that worshipped God Kaphin, a powerful Deity.
It wasn't that Kaphin demanded murders from his worshippers, but his powers were of the blood domain, so his worshippers were a bunch of cruel savages.
The cult participated in numerous sacrificial rituals, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of millions of innocent humans.
Their way of sacrificing was insanely brutal as well. They slashed the bodies of the beings they chose as their sacrifice. It wasn't a large slash, but small cuts, and it was always one thousand.
They then left their sacrifice bleeding until every last bit of their blood was drained from their bodies. It was a long and excruciating sacrifice.
The blood was then sacrificed to Kaphin, which resulted in the worshippers gaining power or other gifts. In the picture, there was a mountain of blood-dried corpses with expressions of horror so deep that Arohan felt he was standing right there even though it was just a picture.
At one time, the cult had gained such power that many cities were left with no choice but to jointly hunt them. Even a brutal cult like the Rotten Shudderer Cult seemed pale in comparison to their actions. That battle resulted in many deaths, but still, they succeeded in killing many cult members.
The cult hadn't been able to recover, even though more than 400 years had passed since then.
In the battle, the Trita city had also participated, and many of their members died as a result. The names of those who participated in the battle were etched in golden on the page. The next page continued having the names, but it was in blood red, signifying the names of those who ultimately laid their lives in the battle.
Even someone selfish like Arohan felt a strange sadness in his heart seeing the names of the people who selflessly laid their lives down.
Arohan couldn't continue reading anymore, as that was too much for him to take. He came from a world that was peaceful. There were horrible things happening across the world, but it couldn't be compared to what he just read from one page.
"Do I really want to join a group like this?"
Arohan mumbled. Even though he was impressed by the sacrifices of the people in the group, it didn't mean he wanted to be a part of it. Arohan didn't think he could sacrifice himself for people he didn't know.
He might have done it on Earth, but that was because it all happened outside of his control. He wouldn't wish to be there if he knew something like that would happen.
Arohan put the book down and began to ponder seriously about the situation at hand. He wasn't from Yavar and had nothing that he could call his own. It wasn't Earth where his parents had left him a vast fortune that allowed him to do anything he wanted.
At the same time, there was an urge in his heart that wanted him to become more powerful. It was as if there was something calling him.
He was confused about whether to give in to that urge. If he refused to join the group, the relationship between him and the captain would reach rock bottom.
In a world where strength decided the hierarchy in society, it wasn't wise to have a bad relationship with a powerful being like the captain.
Time flew in the blink of an eye, and Arohan didn't even notice when his stomach suddenly complained.
He never had to think that carefully about anything, so he was mentally tired. Even though his stomach was complaining, he decided to sleep right away.
The next day arrived, and after having a feast of breakfast, Arohan picked up the book that was placed on the table.
He took a deep breath as he opened the book and turned the pages down. The second and third pages were about the cult, while the fourth page detailed another event. It was an even older event.
Every thousand years, a rare eclipse occurred on Yavar and in it the moon turned crimson red, so it was called Crimson Eclipse.
The last eclipse was seven hundred forty-eight years ago, and during that eclipse, a sacrifice that shook the entire world of Yavar took place.
Valythra, the leader of the Zyrathor cult, partook in a ritual where 333,333,333 were sacrificed to announce the arrival of the cult. They worshipped Zyrathor, a powerful God.
The number of people chosen was specific, as Zyrathor had 333,333,333 mouths. The negative energy unleashed from so many sacrifices was to such an extent that even the crimson moon had turned pitch black while every living being on the planet could feel a sense of foreboding.
If not for the strongest being of Yavar personally intervening and the cities across the world sending their elite soldiers, the situation would have been terrible for the planet Yavar.
Zyrathor liked souls, and the sacrifice was done to summon a wisp of his incarnation. The Gods were such powerful beings that even a wisp of their incarnation was something that couldn't be defeated.

A/N: Please comment if you have suggestions regarding Gods and their powers. The world in the story would be extremely vast and if the book works, I have plans to write several million words.
