Chapter 15: Surprise!
Arohan walked inside, pushing the door. At first glance, it looked like the house was designed for both function and comfort.
From the outside, the house looked modest-sized, but once inside, it looked large. He entered the main hall by walking through the door.
The main hall featured a central fireplace to provide warmth and light. However, there was no fire, so it was slightly chilly. Arohan was wearing warm clothes, so he was fine. On the walls, woven clothes depicting historical battles against cults were hanging. There was also a large single bookshelf against the wall that held some books.
Further, there was a hallway leading to his bedroom. The door wasn't locked, so he only had to push it in.
The first thing that appeared in his sight was his bed. It was crafted from reinforced mahogany, and covered with soft animal-hide blankets. Arohan couldn't help but nod in appreciation since the comfortability on that bed was no less than the large comfortable bed he used on Earth.
There was only a single window in the room, allowing filtered sunlight. On the bed's foot, there was a wooden chest. It seemed to serve as storage for weapons, armor, and personal belongings. But at that moment, it was empty since he didn't have any personal belongings as of yet.
There was a second door in the room on the other side. He was curious to see what was beyond it, so he walked to it and pushed the door open.
As he opened the door, Arohan opened his mouth wide in shock. It wasn't a secret room or hall that greeted him but a large open space filled with wooden dummies and racks filled with wooden weapons such as swords, spears, mace, etc.
There was also a small counter, and for some reason, Arohan felt extremely excited about it. He walked to the counter and pulled the drawer out, and small bottles appeared in his sight.
His heart immediately beat loudly as he picked one bottle up. It was a glass bottle the size of his smallest finger. On it, there was a tag attached which contained the name of the potion.
It was Focus potion and was light blue in color like the clear sky. There were two more potion types, green and light red in color. The name of the potion was Vital potion and Endurance potion respectively.
Other than the three glass bottles of potion, there was a paper which contained the details of the three potions.
The Focus potion's effect was as its name suggested. Drinking it before starting the training would have double the effects in the training as it honed reflexes and improved reaction speed and muscle memory.
It was also used in fighting as it enhanced perception, allowing the user to analyze enemy movements easily. There was only one bottle because mortals could only drink one of it every month, as more than that would cause serious headaches due to the heavy strain on the human brain.
The Endurance potion was used during the training as it restored stamina rapidly, making training sessions longer without excessive fatigue. It had a hidden benefit as well. Its long-term usage helped strengthen the drinker's muscles.
It also had a side effect as overuse of it could lead to muscle strain since the endurance recovery was only temporary. Once the effect of the potion wore off, it would cause muscle exhaustion.
The third and last was the Vital potion. It accelerated the healing of minor injuries, bruises, and muscle tears sustained during training.
If used with the endurance potion, it enhanced the effect of the potion as muscle exhaustion could be treated by the vital potion as well.
Even though the potion seemed the most important of all, its side-effect was also the harshest of the three. Excessive use of the potion could slow the natural healing process of the human body, as unlike the other two, it could be taken consecutively.
Arohan looked excited as he read the details of the potions. He had already accepted that the world he knew was no longer how it worked.
Gods existed, and their presence has pervaded every corner of the cosmos. At the same time, humans could also gain power that he had only read about in the fantasy novels on Earth.
Even though Arohan was excited to see potions and read their effects and was curious about them, he was in no mood to immediately satisfy his curiosity.
He put the potion back in the drawer and closed it. There were two other drawers, and they contained the same items, so in total, there were three potions of each type.
Arohan has lived an ascetic life for quite a while, so it was time for him to enjoy. He didn't have to worry about others breaking into his room since his residence was in the safest area filled with other soldiers, and he also had no treasure to worry about. He had one treasure, but it was inside his body and wouldn't come out, no matter how Arohan called for it.
He simply locked the door and walked outside, ready to go to the happening street in the city.
