Chapter 16 - Shiro

Alfred followed Shiro closely, careful not to make a sound.

Walking on the even ground of the rooftop, Shiro groaned. "Why can't I find the damned room!" He had been trying to locate the exact location of the professor's office but he was taking too long and he couldn't just jump without finding the exact location. He finally found it, it was another room away from his current location.

Jumping down, he saw that the window was firmly shut.

"Not a problem for me."

He brought out a device and placed it on what could be termed as the door handle of the window. The device made a circular cut wide enough for a hand to fit in.

Shiro put his hands into the hole, opened the window, and jumped right into the room.

Meanwhile, Alfred was still on the roof, cursing.

"Why would he jump? Should I jump too? But if I jump, he might find me. But, if I don't do anything, my grades will drop. I cannot afford that! What do I do!!"

He pulled his hair, groaning in both frustration and pain.

"Screw it! I'll just do it. If he sees me, I'll just let him know I want to change my results. He won't consider it weird since we're both on the dark side."

Making up his mind and steering his resolve, he jumped as gently and slowly as he could. He didn't want to fall to his death because of a test score.

He placed his foot gingerly on the window pane, and slowly entered the room, already preparing to see a knife in his face.

He finally got into the room but surprisingly, he saw no one.

"Where did he go?" He questioned, scrunching up his face.

The room was dark so it was hard to see anything, the light emanating from the moon could only outline so much in the room.

He could see the outline of the desk and a computer at a corner, along with a shelf where it looked like books were kept.

"As expected of a professor, they're so geeky."

Walking towards it, he came to the conclusion that Shiro had left through the door since he had spent quite some time hesitating on whether to go into the room or not.

"Now, all that's left is to find my scores and change them."

The computer was unlocked surprisingly so he didn't need to worry about unlocking the password.

"I mean, even though it was locked, I believe the system would sort that out for me." He muttered while trying to find his name.

BANG!

He looked back and saw the outline of a human. He immediately hid under the desk.

BANG!

Placing his hands on his chest, trying to calm the frantic beating of his heart, he gulped. His pupils were dilated and his heart didn't stop beating. His palms were sweaty and his body was hot, in contrast with the chilly air that blew into the room.

The room became silent, eerily silent and this only increased his heart rate.

"Thought you were invisible, eh?"

'That voice belongs to Shiro.'

"Shut up! This world will be rid of all you vermin!"

Alfred couldn't distinguish the voice but it sounded oddly familiar.

The person continued speaking.

"We have created a device that will wipe out all of you, especially the ones with demonic powers."

'Powers?'

"Oh, so it's perfectly angelic when it's the people on your side possessing the powers but it becomes demonic when it's on our side. Talk about being racist!" Shiro spoke again.

"You all deserve to die!" The other person yelled.

"I'm not willing to entertain you, where is he? Answer me now!"

"You're looking at him!" The man yelled back.

"Do you think I'm stupid! It's obvious you're not the real person! Answer me!"

"I'll die before I tell you!"

"Then die, I have no problem ending your life."

A slash and a thud.

Alfred's eyes widened as he stared at the head in front of him. He covered his mouth with his sweaty hands to keep any sound from escaping.

'And this Shiro is an amateur who didn't realize I followed him! What will a pro be like!'

Alfred couldn't recognize the face, first off, because it was dark and secondly, because the face had two faces.

The face was divided into two, each part carrying a different face entirely.

The head moved away or rather the body was dragged away, leaving a blood trail.

Alfred couldn't stop the small shriek that escaped from his mouth. The dragging sound abruptly stopped and was replaced with the sound of footsteps walking towards him.

'I knew it, that god only wanted me to live so I could die! Curse you system! Now I'll die again!'

The footsteps were closer and Alfred knew he could faint anytime from the tension.

'Step, step, step..'

He was subconsciously wording the sound he heard in his mind until he could hear nothing again. Shiro had stopped walking.

"Yeah, well, he's dead. No, he's not the one. The twerp used transformation powers. It seems like they were expecting this. They purposely planted this one in here. I've done my job so I'll be on my way. I'm famished!"

He ended the call and went back to the body, rummaging through it for whatever reason.

'I'm saved!'

Shiro stood, and went straight to the door. Apparently, he had cut off the finger of the dead person so he could open the door.

He dropped the thumb on the floor and it rolled towards Alfred who was still hiding under the big table.

"When you're done with whatever you came here to do, use the thumb to get out. It's way easier than jumping through the window."

Alfred hiccuped.

Shiro chuckled softly. "Are you surprised?"

Alfred said nothing.

"I had known you were following me ever since, especially on the rooftop. And your jump into the room was loud. You'll need to work on your stealth skills better, but I'll give it to you, for an amateur you're pretty good."

Shiro rubbed his neck awkwardly. "Well, I don't know who you are exactly but I can take a guess. Now, I'm saying all this so I don't need to tell you to keep shut about everything heard in this room because I could easily kill you right now but like I said, I'm hungry so I wont waste my time. I can easily kill you anytime if you try anything funny."

He opened the door and Alfred breathed out.

"Ah, I almost forgot to tell you but don't worry about your fingerprints, it'll be erased and no one will ever know you were here."
