Chapter 1 - The singularity

He was a guy, a person whose name was forgotten in time. He was wandering through the halls that echo and at some point reached level 999. It was dark, the only sound present was his own breathing and the sound of wind passing by. It brought him peace, he sat down upon the sands of the floating island. Everything else being a void of stars and beauty, the darkness comforted him. He was sitting on his knees as he focused so much on the sound presented to him that his brain completely shut down, and he was left with his instincts. But they didn't do anything either. His body... It was like he was becoming one with the unchanging level. His whole journey through the backrooms. He found true peace of mind. But how did he got here he thought to himself as his brain began working once again. Through the beauty of socialization in level 11 and 48, into pure isolation in level 95 and then... The halls.

This place amazed him, he thought that the experience of this world was interesting and beautiful in a way... All until insanity caught him. The sound was becoming louder and more annoying, even though the relaxing sound of the wind was nice for the time being... At some point his ears felt numb, as if the sound was taking away something from him. But at this point, he had lost all his power, it was like he was becoming a statue, as he lost hope of life, his body began giving him up and so he fell back blacking out... It was over for him...

As death wrapped it's cold fingers around him the backrooms glitched him through the island. He slowly fell down into the void he so much adored. Yet he felt nothing, not just because he was unconscious, but because the winds took away all that made him human: memories and senses.

He was already empty, so death released him from its grasp, leaving what was empty to remain empty. Until he felt a voice coursing through his being - "Death isn't the end for you... It's a change of forms."

Suddenly he woke back up onto the island above the infinite void. It was as if he woke up from a dream.

He looked down at his hands, ignoring the glitchy effects that appeared occasionally around them. - "I exist..."

He was like a curious little child, gaining self-consciousness.

Slowly he stood up, shaking as he tried to balance. Once he got the hang of how to walk, he stretched out and took a deep breath.

"Ah... How delightful." - he said to himself looking over at the void.

Before he turned around and began walking towards the epicenter of the level. The cogs within every part of his being began to spin more purposefully. With a small smile his journey began.

He quickly found a trap door as if he already knew the entire layout of the the level. He opened it and jumped in ending up in the halls that echo.

"Time for some exploration." - he thought to himself as he began to walk. He randomly choose a direction. And he spent a few frustrating days walking around, but he kept calm.

Most of the time he kept his mind turned off to avoid lowering his sanity, even though the backrooms didn't have the same effect on him.

Not so long after he found a wooden door positioned in one of the many similar hallways.

Without much of hesitation, he slowly walked towards it and stepped into Level 563.

A path stretched our before him.
