Asuriel brought Vaerion along with her against his will. She closed the door behind them when they finally got to the large bedroom, and her spell on the devil was released. He looked at her with distaste, his golden eyes narrowed.
"What's that look for?" Asuriel frowned.
Vaerion was eerily quiet for a long time. He studied her for what felt like hours, his intense gaze catching her breath in her throat. She shifted uncomfortably, waiting for him to answer her.
"Why did you do that?" he said after the extended silence.
Asuriel's brow quirked. "Do what?"
Vaerion's expression was cold and detached. "For Kaine. Why?"
"What?" Asuriel's brows furrowed. "…Make the poultice?"
"That," the devil gave a haughty nod and added thoughtfully after a moment's pause, "and the… gifts."
