Chapter 11 - Spire

8 am. The sun rose from the east, giving everyone a sunny day.

Alvin extended his hand in the air to feel the warmth of the sun. Not sure it was because of the fresh air or the cultivation, Alvin felt energetic. Although the meetup time was set to 8 am, he had been waiting here since 7:45 am.

While waiting for Mr. Elias, Alvin read the book "The Introduction of the cloud world". Mr Elias gave Alvin the book.

Soon, Mr Elias reached the school entrance. They got in a carriage and headed to the spire.

On the carriage.

"Mr. Elias, yesterday you said that we can kill a cloud monster inside the spire to get a cloud spell right? What is the suitable cloud spell if I want to be an attack mage?" Alvin asked. Despite being hardworking, his knowledge wasn't enough for him to decide on his first cloud spell. After all, he just started reading to book yesterday.

"Strong attack spell. Having a strong attack spell will help you when you are a low-rank cloud holder. You can get your dodging or defense spell when you get to level 30 or level 40." Elias said, giving solid advice.

"What cloud monster should I hunt?" Alvin asked as he was flipping his book to find any suitable cloud monster.

"There are few monsters with spells that are great for attack mages, you can flip to page 42 to read about it. But whether you can find it in the spire is another story. Sometimes it depends on luck." Elias grinned and said.

Alvin paused for a moment and flipped to page 42. He was surprised that Elias could remember the details of the book. There were a lot of different cloud monsters on page 42.

"Mr Elias, what is your first cloud spell?" Alvin asked, curious.

"I don't have a cloud spell." Elias lowered his eyes lid and smiled lightly.

"Don't have a cloud spell?" Alvin said, frowning.

"Ya, I am a librarian," Elias said.

...

2 hours later, they reached their destination.

As soon as Alvin got off the carriage, he saw a massive spire. It was huge and tall, in brown color, spiral into the sky. This was the tallest building he had ever seen. He couldn't even tell how high the building was because the top of the building was blocked by mist and cloud.

At first he thought the spire would be a large tower size. He would need 3 hours to finish the spire. As someone who used to pick branches on the hill everyday, he was confident with this challenge.

But reality was beyond his imagination. The spire was not large, it was massive and huge as if it was a small mountain by itself.

Alvin turned his head and glanced around the surrounding of the spire. At the entrance of the spire stood two guards. They were here to collect the entrance fees. There were few stalls nearby the entrance, some of the stalls selling weapons, some of the stalls selling potions.

Alvin didn't go and buy anything from the stall, because Elias had brought all the necessary potions. Knowing the price here would be much expensive, Mr Elias had bought it nearby the school. With that they could save 20 percent of their money.

After paying the entrance fees of 200 dollars in total , Elias and Alvin entered the spire. The standard entrance fees for the spire was 150 dollars per person. However, they were only paying 100 dollars per person because they were from the Arcanum Primary Cloud Academy.

Inside the spire, Alvin was glancing around. There was a huge spiral ladder in the spire. Calling it a ladder would be not accurate, because it was a huge slope instead.

Surprisingly, there were a of trees along the slope. The environment inside this spire was like a forest. There were tall trees, grasses and flowers.

"This is spire no.66. Sometimes people called it Arcanum Forest Spire It was the number 66 spire that people found." Elias explained, taking the opportunity to teach Alvin.

"So, every spire will be different?" Alvin asked

"Yup, with different environments, different cloud monsters." Elias nodded his head.

Looking at a far distance, Alvin noticed there was a cloud monster with flame on its back. Instantly, Alvin recalled the knowledge of the book. It was a pig, called Flamerig.

Normal pig would be in pink or white colour. However, this Flamerig, it was in sharp red colour, with flame that was glowing as if it was a volcano.

Following Alvin's gaze, Elias saw the Flamerig.

"Judging from its size, it is a level 12 Flamerig. Its spell is suitable for knight, not for mage. Lets don't waste energy on this Flamerig." Elias said with a firm tones as he was glancing around, looking for a path to move forward.

Soon, they found a way to move up the spire without fighting the Flamerig. After all, it was a huge spire, they could find an alternative way easily.

"Teacher, why the higher we go, the more cloud energy in the air."While walking, Alvin asked as he found out the cloud energy increased when they moved up.

"It was the nature of the world. Cloud energy tends to concentrate in the sky. Some people even lived on top of hill to have a good environment that is full of cloud energy." Mr Elias explained.

Hearing that, Alvin nodded his head.

15 minutes later, they encountered another cloud monsters. It was a Windpard, a leopard with green colour flame on his ears and tails. Obviously, it was a wind element cloud monster.

The Windpard was glaring at them as if they were its food.

"18 level Windpard." Elias muttered as he slowly took out a bottles. He poured some white powder on the floor, between them and the Windpard. His face remained indifferent.

Alvin covered his nose as he found the powder smells weird as if a disgusting things.

The windpard sniffed the smell of the powder. Then, it left with a sad expression on its face.

Seeing the Windpard left, Alvin breathed a sigh of relief. His hand was in his pocket, ready to take out his lightning magic circle. Fortunately, teacher Elias had his way to deal with the cloud monster.

After a moment, Elias grabbed Alvin's hand and brought him to walk away from this place. They reached a place seemed safe and stopped.

"Should be safe now. The cloud monster is clever, maybe the windpard will find other windpard to attack us together" Elias was breathing heavily.

Alvin was sweating a bit.
