Chapter 1 - The Life of Asturas

"Long live the Emperor! Long live!"

"Glory to the Empire! May the Empire last for 10,000 years!"

It was a glorious day for the Asturian Imperial Capital Tel-Nobron as they celebrate the Decadean Festival. It has been 10 years since the entire Northern Lands had been united under one banner. If one were to return from today to the days before the unification, it would have been completely unrecognizable to the young populace now.

At that time, there were several states and kingdoms vying for authority and territories to capture. Wars transpired every hour, and famine was rampant throughout every cities, towns, and villages. It was only when the Kingdom of Asturas was established did the quality of life began to turn for the better.

Once a state similar to the other warring states, the Kingdom of Asturas, instead of actively seeking fights, bid their time to strengthen their power by defending and solidifying the trust and hope of the people on their ruler. The territory, throughout the twelve years of constant warfare, only participated on five full-blown conflicts, most of which happened in the war's latter years.

Because of this, the Kingdom did not overly focus its resources on warfare. Instead, they allocated quite a sum to improve the lives of the people by introducing advancements in the aspects of welfare, modern settlement, agriculture, education, defenses, and the overall economy. The jobs that were available in the realm back then did not just revolve in the military alone, which is why at the time, quite a number of immigrants came pouring down on the territory, which bolstered the realm's manpower.

Coupled with the alliances that were tied with Asturas, as the states and princes rumbled and fought with each other, Asturas became a self-functioning dominion that was independent from any of the previous regime's support. This ability of theirs, of course, sparked the later wars that proved as an obstacle to the new kingdom.

But, despite all of the ordeals and setbacks that they had to experience, the Kingdom of Asturas rose and rose to greater and greater heights, and it was all because of the prime mover who sits actively atop the throne that saved the realm. The man who fought for the people and protected them in their time of need. The man who supported the previous king and continued his legacy after the former's untimely demise. The man who led his retainers to battle despite the odds that they faced.

Reynald Augustus Morial Salvenus-Hastur de Castillo-Ebrahim.

He who stood as the pillar of Asturas. He who is viewed by the people as the fundamental piece of peace and prosperity.

The Infallible Monarch.

The stories of his greatness still echo in all taverns and brothels. From the southernmost city of the autonomous Dominion of Agaria that laid southwest of the Main Imperial Territory to the northernmost realm of the Grand Duchy of Ramussia, his illustrious deeds that shaped the empire to this very day was the beat of every heart in the sphere of Asturas' influence.

On the contrary, fear and uneasiness permeates the heart of every noble and royal throughout the continent. For thousands of years, the people within all dominions were governed by their kind, the nobility.

It had been established that the powerful were the only people that had the right to rule. There were instances, even, that religions were pulled into the perspective so that they can rule with power and authority over the people. `

For example, there is the Holy State of Khal, a territory that, although small, held such a firm grip on vast territories that they could even be considered a Divine Empire that has a Divine Right to rule over the people. There was also the Borbian Empire just south of the Dominion of Agaria, where strength was the basis of authority and where the weak couldn't even be considered human. There's also the Sevian Empire that laid just west of the Imperial Territory, where the vast treasuries and businesses throughout the realm kept the royal family as the ruling household for hundreds of years due to their tight grip on their Empire's economy.

All these were evidences of one, single fact; Power, authority, and money were the main driving force of governance in this world.

But, because of the Infallible Monarch's rise in the absence of nobles, the ban on slavery and advocation for people's rights, every one of them became scared of a possible uprising. Just on slavery alone, because of such a powerful empire banning such trade, ideas began to enter the minds of the slaves; the idea of freedom.

The Republic of Clauturia, a vassalage of the Empire of Asturas to its west, was encouraged by the newly declared Emperor to advocate the rights of the people, spread books all across the continent of their philosophies, ideas, and people-centered form of governance, where dynasties were scraped and elected people from the populace rule and introduce freedom and rights to the masses. Clauturia, the very first republic led by a simple man that was elected by the people, showed to the men and women of Telhaven Continent the often-forgotten power that the masses have.

Not to mention the Empire itself, where revolutionary ideas that differed not much to the principles of the Republic often rise one after another. Already, freedom of speech was allowed within the Empire. Even when a minority of people badmouth the Emperor, only the populace would come and beat those people up. No soldier would just take them away and execute them for speaking ill of the Emperor, vastly different to the dominions outside them.

Because of the beacon of light, righteousness, and freedom that is Asturas, rebellions that advocates such ideals became more rampant than ever throughout Telhaven.

As the continent embroils itself to a new chaotic and revolutionary era, the people of Asturas celebrate, ever so proud of their glorious emperor. His power that shines over the realm keeps them calm and at ease as they place their unwavering trust on their Great and Wise Infallible Emperor.

As the festive atmosphere invigorates the hearts of the people, the now-50 years old monarch that they were most proud of sat on the emperor's bed inside the Imperial bedroom. The man shouted in horror whilst holding a phone that was severely out of place inside this Renaissance-like room, "They already released GXA 6?!"
