Chapter 11 - FRIENDS?

"What do you think?"

"I think you should leave," she responded and he chuckled before becoming serious.

"I'll ask you one last time, Haze. Are you in a relationship with Psalm?"

"Why do you care? What's your motive here?" She asked.

"Didn't you see what I did back there in that classroom? That's my motive!" He said in all seriousness and it left Hazel speechless for a moment.

"Mr Kervin. I don't know you and I…"

"Then let's get to know each other because I'm not going to just leave. I'm going to be that annoying mosquito that'll keep coming back," he said while moving close to her.

"You should keep your distance, Kervin."

"Why do you hate me, Haze? What did Psalm tell you?"

"Do I even know you well enough to hate you?" She asked back.

"Well, that's what I sense," he said and shrugged his shoulders.

"Kervin."

At the call of his name, Kervin and Hazel turned to see who called him and Hazel's eyes widened.

"Look who just walked in." Kervin taunted and went to meet him.

Psalm had a cold glare in his eyes as they followed Kervin.

And on getting to him, Kervin wanted to place his hand around Psalm's waist but Psalm quickly moved away while eyeing him.

"Is this how it's going to be now, Psalm? You'll act like you don't know me right? I see, because of Hazel right. Well, let me tell you this. Hazel is officially mine."

"Do you think I'll believe that," Psalm scoffed and walked away from him but the demon followed until he came to stand before Hazel who couldn't stop staring at him.

"Psalm. Kervin was just leaving," she thoughtfully said and Kervin blinked at her.

"I was? If I remember correctly I was about to learn storytelling," he reminded her.

"Hazel you should go insi…."

Psalm wanted to tell her to go inside but stopped midway when his senses quickly picked up a cry of distress and he subconsciously looked at Kervin to find him staring at him while smiling knowingly.

"Be ready to lose!" Kervin declared and turned to leave but Psalm quickly caught him by the collar before completing what he wanted to say while glaring at the demon.

"Go in and continue what you were doing, Haze, I'll be right back." Saying that he let go of Kervin, turned and walked away in hurried steps.

"I'll be right back as well," Kervin said to Hazel and ran to meet Psalm so they could leave together.

In silence, Hazel watched as Kervin excitedly wrapped his left arm around Psalm from behind while saying something she couldn't hear. And as if irritated, Psalm pushed him away but Kervin didn't give up following him.

"Seems like they're closer than I imagined," Hazel said and sighed.

However, when she turned, she froze in place as she found all the students at the window and door eavesdropping.

"Seriously?"

She asked and they quickly went back to their seats.

*******

When they got to the visitors room, they vanished since no one was around and in no time, they arrived at the location they both sensed the cry.

"Kervin, stop what you're doing."

"Stop?" The demon scoffed at Psalm's words as they walked inside the woods.

"I should be telling you to stop instead," Kervin said instead.

"And what are you telling me to stop?" Psalm feigned ignorance.

"Stop being an idiot. You damn know what I'm talking about," Kervin scoffed and the angel rolled his eyes while walking ahead of him.

"We've been doing this for months now and you keep giving me this kind of awful treatment. Didn't they train you well in Heaven to love everyone?" Kervin asked in all seriousness.

"And you expect me to love you? A demon?"

"Of course, aren't we friends?" Kervin poked the angel at his back and it annoyed him so much to a point he had to stop walking and face the demon.

"What's with the look, huh?" Kervin tried to add more fuel but Psalm simply lifted his right hand and Kervin was sent flying in the air before crashing into a tree and dividing it into two.

"Ugh!" Kervin groaned and got on his feet as he glared at the angel.

"I'm going to have her, Psalm."

"And do you think she'll just give in. You know what, try your luck," Psalm challenged him and resumed walking.

"Are you actually letting me have my way with her?" Kervin asked in disbelief as he reappeared beside the angel and wrapped an arm around his shoulder again.

Instead of answering him, Psalm teleported himself to the exact place the person was and Kervin followed.

On getting there, they found a young lady in her early 40's crying as she decided to practice dark magic just to inflict pain on someone who hurt her.

"She's a goner," Kervin cheerfully said.

"Patricia," Psalm called her name but she refused to look at him.

"Patricia," Kervin called her name and the woman looked at the demon.

When she did that, Kervin glanced at Psalm and smiled evilly.

"You called me," Kervin said and she smiled.

"Patricia!" Psalm called her name again but she didn't pay him attention, meaning, evil must've clouded her senses.

"I want to hurt someone," she said and Kervin nodded as he went to squat before her. Psalm on the other hand couldn't pass through the barrier she subconsciously created with her mind.

"Patricia!" He called her name again in hope that she would hear but she didn't.

"I know. But if you want to take that road you'll have to give your soul to me," Kervin tactfully said and the woman's eyes sparked with so much hope.

"If I give you my soul will he die?" She curiously asked and Kervin nodded.

"PATRICIA!" Psalm called her name again but this time with so much force it went past the barrier and got to her.

Shocked, she looked in his direction with wide eyes. She didn't even realize there was another person.

"I know your fiancé hurt you but revenge isn't the way. It would only hurt you the most," Psalm advised her since he had gotten her attention.

"You don't understand!" She yelled at him as she burst into tears.

"Exactly, you don't understand anything, Psalm. She suffered in his hands, yet, he went ahead and left her on the altar just to go marry someone else. Be real for once!" Kervin said to the angel but Psalm ignored him.

Coming to her, Psalm carefully squatted beside her.

"Revenge isn't the way."

"Revenge is the way. Don't listen to him," Kervin coaxed her as he ran his finger through her hair in a soothing manner.

"If you exert revenge on that man at the expense of your own soul what will you get?" Psalm thoughtfully asked.
