Chapter 13 - A RULE HE DARE NOT BREAK

Her eyes were as wide as saucers when she felt his lips softly press against hers. She couldn't even bring herself to move or push him due to how much she was shocked and affected by his actions.

Before he moved away, he purposely bit her lower lip as if to bring her back to reality before creating distance between them while smiling evilly as he observed her.

"You kissed me," she said in a low tone as if it was hard to take in.

"Should I do it again?" Kervin proposed but she threw a light glare at him and took a step back.

But regardless, she didn't look like she was mad at what he did. Rather, she seemed calm.

"I'll see you around Haze…" he said and walked towards the door.

On getting to it, he turned to catch a glimpse of her again.

"You didn't give me an answer," he reminded her and she fixed her expression before nodding.

"Fine. Let's go out, but don't do what you did today until I give you a go ahead." She warned and he smiled but didn't agree to it.

When he left, Hazel stood there in awe as she rubbed her lower lip with her thumb.

He kissed her.

And the more she thought about it, the more her dreams resurfaced, making her begin to think they could actually become something more.

"Come on Hazel. You can't just conclude like that just because of a simple kiss?" She said and snapped out of her thoughts.

But she couldn't seem to get it off her mind and she absentmindedly went to the corner where she normally sat.

Funny enough, when she got there and looked through the large window, she found Kervin standing right across the road.

The moment he saw her, he grinned widely and waved back at her. And for the first time since when Hazel got to know him, she chuckled and shook her head.

Maybe he isn't that bad, she said to herself as she watched him turn to leave.

But instead of going, she found someone walking up to him and it turned out to be Psalm.

And as if to check, he turned and found her standing at the window staring at them.

Despite that, she didn't move, rather, she kept observing them.

There was this dislike Psalm obviously had towards Kervin and Kervin on the other hand didn't seem to care.

"What kind of friendship did they have?" Hazel wondered to herself.

When she found him walking to the orphanage home, she sat down on one of the chairs and prepared to face him.

And as expected, he came to where she was once he entered the building and the moment their eyes locked, he frowned slightly and went to sit opposite her.

"I thought you weren't going to come here until next week," she said while watching him.

"Well, I got quite busy. Sorry I couldn't call," he apologized while observing her closely.

"Well, you should've at least tried," Hazel said and played with her fingers as she waited for him to bring up the topic about what he said the last time they met.

"I felt I should face you instead," he said.

"Here I am now," she said and smiled but Psalm didn't smile.

"Does he come here frequently?"

He asked and she stared at him for a while before shaking her head because she knew exactly who he was referring to.

"Does he want something from you?" Psalm worriedly inquired and Hazel slowly shook her head.

"Is he bothering you?"

"Not really," she replied.

"Please don't involve yourself with him," he advised.

"But you involve yourself with him," she boldly said back and Psalm became silent.

"What's your relation with him, Psalm? You seem to hate him yet you still talk to him," she pointed out the obvious.

"It's complicated."

"Then uncomplicate it," she said while frowning.

She really did like him. In fact, Psalm was the very first person her eyes were on.

"Just stay away from him, please."

Saying that, he got up and was about to head inside when she stopped him.

"Is that it? Are you just going to pretend like nothing happened between us?" She asked because it was annoying how he didn't bother bringing the topic up.

He sighed and turned to face her.

"We're friends, Hazel, what more do you want?"

At his question, she blinked in shock. She couldn't even bring herself to say what she wanted because it would make her look foolish.

How could he say one thing and say another?

"Nothing," she simply said and walked out of there with so much hurt.

And in silence, Psalm stood there with sad eyes. He had realized he was getting too involved with her and it was a rule he dare not break.

"I'm sorry, Hazel, but I can't."
