Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Evelyn sat in her room on the edge of the bed as she took her brown hair out of the messy braid, throwing the red tie across the room as she furrowed her brow.

Her eyes for a moment were locked on the hardwood floor before she looked up into the mirror. Evelyn was disgusted at herself; her face was swollen and red irritated from the injury. She brought her hand up and picked at one of the stiches that had busted open from the corner of her eye, she pulled it from her as stood up throwing it in the trash beside the vanity.

She grabbed her hairbrush from the surface of the vanity as she brushed out her hair, staring into the mirror as she didn't see herself. She saw her father staring back at her, despite the ache in her face she glared hard at the mirror her eye flickering colors between brown and yellow.

There was a vase of flowers on the dresser and her magic flickering caused them to wilt as the smoke drifted down the vase as it leaked onto the floor creating an ominous cloud of silence.

Evelyn clenched her fist around her brush, a scowl on her face as she stared into the mirror. She couldn't believe her father would send her off, sure she understood he was upset but to send her away to a crazed relative?

She growled as she launched the brush into the mirror cracking the glass as it bounced off and hit the floor with a clattering. Evelyn took a deep breath as she could feel the magic coursing through her veins as the fog swirled angrily around her feet. The sharp particles of life force stung as it grazed her ankles

She turned on her heels as she turned back towards her bed her eyes still flickering violently, however Evelyn plopped headfirst into the mattress as she heaved a heavy sigh. Her pale fingers digging into the blanket as she turned her head staring out the window.

She didn't like not being able to progress she felt stuck; hell maybe even pushed back.

The next day she left her room early morning as she walked down the hall, passing a tall dark-haired boy about the same age as her. His hazel eyes seemingly lit up in a mischivious spark when he saw her.

"Ah well if it isnt Miss. Scar face." The boy said with a teasing grin, that clicked Evelyns mind as she frowned deeply stopping in her tracks just a hair away from him.

"What did you just call me? I don't even know you." She said a little vemon in her voice before the boy shoved his hand towards her catching her off guard slightly.

"Aiden, Aiden Blackwood." He said giving a creepily charming smile, Evelyn scrunched her face in a mix of confusion and yet disgust as she took the back of her hand and moved Aiden's hand away from her.

"Huh." Was all she gave in response as she moved past him walking down the hall, unfortunate for her it seemed Aiden was intent on following her.

"Well know you don't have to worry about not knowing me, Scar Face." Aiden said walking beside her as she glanced at him with a sharp glare. However she kept her mouth shut, which earned a chuckle from Aiden.

"Anyways, you got yourself hurt pretty bad huh? Can you see out that eye?" The boy said as Evelyn just stared ahead as she walked down the hallway.

"I don't see how it's your business." Evelyn snapped as she took a turn to the right exiting the house into the yard as she made her way to the arena, Aiden fell a little behind as he smiled cheekily.

"Feisty I like it." Aiden said pausing at the door before he continued to follow.

Evelyn realized he wasn't going to leave her alone, as she huffed a heavy sigh and stopped turning around to give Aiden a hard glare. "Is there a reason your following me?"

"Not really, just curious besides. Master Leonardo said something about you not being able to train for a while, yet here you are going to the arena?" Aiden cooed as he walked past her heading towards the arena himself.

Evelyn scrunched up her face at his words as she pursed her lips in a tight line.

"Surly you have better things to do than be curious."

He in fact did, he himself was suppose to be out training at five am. But here it was seven Am, and here he was watching Evelyn trying to swing a wooden sword at a dummy, but missing countless times.

Aiden wasn't smiling as he leaned against one of the pillars on the outskirts of the grass of the arena, he could tell Evelyn's was getting frustrated and confused. Did she really think she would be able to pick everything back up at where she was at before?

Aiden narrowed his greenish brown gaze as he crossed his arms in thought he knew who she was, as Leonardo talked about his great niece in the past 'a prodigy of her time' yet the girl he was watching was clumsy and struggling.

Evelyn took another swing, missing it by a hair as the strength behind it sent her tumbling to the ground. She grunted as she laid there in the grass for a while staring up into the whole in the ceiling watching the blue sky as she hit the ground with her fist.

Aiden's face came into view as he peered down at her, Evelyn glared at him as she practically jumped to her feet.

"Your depth perception is off, even a blind man could see that."

"I didn't ask for your opinion, I'm just fine." Evelyn said dusting her black tights off before picking up the wooden sword. She stared daggers into the dummy as she adjusted her grip onto the sword.

"Listen, even if you still have that eye underneath all that swelling. Its going to do you no good right now. You should work on healing before you start back." Aiden said as he gave a little soft smile as Evelyns hands clenched as her eye darted to the ground.

She had so much she wanted to work for, it frustrated her. Here she was stuck at a stand still, she felt tears prick at her eyes as she looked back at Aiden. She wouldnt ever say he was right, but... When she would strike at the dummy, it was like it was standing right in the path of her blade yet, never once did she hit it.
