The month's passed as soon the injury to Evelyn's face was just a scar, her eye however was clouded.
She was in her room sitting on her bed staring up at the ceiling, she had felt utterly helpless. Evelyn had tried many times to go back to training how she used to once she was cleared to work again.
However, she failed every time from miss judging a striking distance, to missing a step. She felt like she was at square one again, Evelyn now mostly stayed in her room. What was the point of trying when all that work was thrown away just like that? She knew it was a bad way to think, she knew it was poor choice to stay in her room as the days passed but. It felt usless to try, if something could just be taken just as easily and put her at square one again?
She only had one eye to work with now, what if she got hit in it and went blind? Evelyn knew she wouldn't amount to nothing if that happened.
Her gaze found itself on the cracked mirror on the wall as she stared at herself. It wasn't even 'her' anymore. She was dejected and could feel herself getting weaker and weaker by the days.
"Evelyn." Aiden's voice came from behind the door as she looked towards it, however she didn't answer and instead just looked up at the ceiling.
"Scar Face I know you're in there, the least you could do is answer." Aiden said though his words stung her a bit, they weren't meant to harm.
"What do you want?" Evelyn said coldly as she sighed adjusting her seat on the bed letting her legs drape over the side.
"Master Leonardo wishes to see you." Aiden said plainly as he leaned against the wall beside the door.
Evelyn sighed and got up from her bed as she put on her shoes and opened her door, Aiden looked at her with that stupid smile he always had on his features.
"Where is he?" She asked carefully as she stretched out her back resulting in a few cracks of her joints.
"He is in his study, do you know where that is?" Aiden asked as he tilted his head to the side, noticing the differences in Evelyn from the last time they spoke. She had put on a bit of weight and her muscle was almost gone from lack of training. Her hair was up in a messy wad of a bun.
"Yes." She said in a low voice as she turned her heel walking down the hall as Aiden watched her carefully.
He couldn't place his feelings as his smile fell, maybe Leonardo was getting him all sentimental as he thought to himself.
Evelyn knocked on the door taking in a deep breath filled with the scent of coffee.
"Come in." Leonardo's voiced echoed from behind the door as Evelyn turned the knob and opened it. Peeking her head in, Leonardo was standing in front of the window sipping on coffee. Curiously enough there was another man in the room.
He looked to be maybe in his early 40's maybe late 30's, the man was standing beside Leonardo as his orange eyes looked over at Evelyn.
He had light blonde hair, two beauty marks under each side of his mouth. He wore a large cloak along with a old orange scarf and underneath his cloak was light body armor shirt.
He had a soft yet challenging smile on his features as he tilted his head.
"You asked to see me?" Evelyn said eyeing the stranger before looking back to Leonardo.
"Yes, I have something to discuss with you. But first." Leonardo turned around as he gestured to the man and spoke.
"This is Quincy Bell, a distant cousin of yours." Evelyns eyes narrowed as she looked at the man who held out his right hand and smiled.
"Pleasure to meet you." He said as Evelyn looked at his hand for a moment, it had what looked to be burn scars all over it. She looked back at the mans face before she took it and gave it a short shake before taking her hand back.
"Evelyn." She said her name before she shut the door behind her watching them carefully.
"He is to be your new master." Leonardo said to which Evelyn's eyes widened, as she snapped her gaze to Leonardo.
"What?"
"Since you were cleared to go back to training your father was looking for a new teacher for you. I suggested Quincy due to his own skill and experiences." Leonardo explained as he walked to his desk and put down his cup, Quincy watched him a minute before he glanced at Evelyn.
"I've already got the paperwork done and it's been sent to the head of the clan, so your training can resume now." the older man said as Quincy took a deep breath as he nodded.
"Well then, Miss. Evelyn, I look forward to teaching you. Your training starts tomorrow at six am."
Evelyn left the room in slight shock, even though it was to be expected she just didn't assume it be so soon after the accident she would receive a new mentor.
She walked down the hall as she nervously fiddled with the red ribbon that tied her hair up. A new mentor... Something she wished for the moment the injury happens but now? Evelyn was confused at what she wanted, her eyes glanced at one of the portrait's at the wall by chance and it stopped her in her tracks.
It was Quincy, he looked alot younger in the painting, but it was him. Her lips parted as she stared at the picture quietly.
"That was Leonardo's second apprentice." Aiden's voice appeared right next to Evelyn's ear which made her jump with a slight squeak as she turned and looked at the man.
"Sorry, sorry..." Aiden said chuckling as he stood up straight smiling that damned smile as he looked at he before back to the painting.
Evelyn pursed her lips and sent a small glare at him before her eye went back to the picture, Aiden smiled softly at seeing her fire was still there even though it wasn't as intense as before.
"So... Do you know much about him?" Evelyn asked as she paused a moment looking at Aiden as uncertainty crossed her mind.
"Mm, Well I know Leonardo favors him a lot. He was an excellent silent knight and then warrior for a while. Something happened when he was twenty-five and he kind of... Well retired?" Aiden said rubbing the back of his neck as he thought to himself.
"Retired? At twenty-five?" Evelyn said as she was a little surprised why would they give her a mentor who has been out of the work so long?
"Uh, well I guess you can say he just stepped down. He just came back it seems to mentor you." Evelyn listened as she gave a soft frown of confusion.
"How did you know that?"
"Eh, I have my ways." Aiden said smiling as he tilted his head and shoved his hands into his pockets.
