The sun rays coming through the window slowly rose to shine on Lily's face cause her to stir from her slumber. Slowly opening her eyes she sees Max sleeping half on her bed in the chair to her right while Dimitri was holding her hand leaning back in his chair on her left. They didn't kill each other, Thank the Goddess. She didn't want them fighting all the time especially over something no one could change.
Her ass felt better too only a little sore now seeing as she was able to lay on her back. Dimitri squeezed her hand making her turn her head seeing him awake. "Hey." "Hey yourself. How are you feeling?" Dimitri asked. "I'm alright. Thanks again for saving me from your brother. Did you ever find out how I ended up with him?" Lily asked wondering who had it out for her so bad. Max woke up at that moment having heard the question half sleepy answering, "My...*yawn*....Father sent you here. That marriage proposal the Dragon Clan sent had to be answered a couple days ago."*Yawn*
"My brother has been after Alisa for years. We all told him that she would be useless, no offense man," Dimitri said trying not to make Max angry. "She's never been my favorite sister. She never grew up and now she has a mate. So it would have been impossible for her to accept," Max said shaking his head, "Phil told me before I left." Lily was shocked that Phil would say anything let alone care. "Wow I knew I was just a servant to them, but selling me off without my knowledge is a new low, even for them," Lily said rubbing her face in frustration.
"Hey, they can't hurt you here. We'll make sure of that, " Dimitri said trying to sheer her up. "Yes they can and they know it. I have people in the city they could hurt to try and get me to comply. The only way they will back off is if I have more power then them," Lily said looking from Max to Dimitri, "You know how this has to be don't you Max?"
The atmosphere in the room changed as Max leaned forward looking her in the eyes, "I know who he is to you. I also know he hasn't marked you yet either. I also know he's the one who you were f*cking back while I was in college, before you knew the truth." Lily's face started turning red as she tried not to look him in they eyes. "I didn't kill him not that I didn't want to," Max said lifting her face so she could see that he wasn't angry, "However I'd like to be out of the room when you guys get around to marking each other. I don't have to like sharing you, but you could have picked worse."
Lily sighed in relief leaning over kissing him glad that they would try to work with this new arrangement. She could feel her energy getting stronger with him close her bond tightening more with every sweep of his lips against hers. He let her go leaning his forehead to hers breathing her in. "No matter what I am here and I am yours."
Dimitri let her hand goes as she moved to hug Max. "Thank you. I needed to hear you say that. And thank you for trying to understand all this. Finding out my mother was a goddess, and that I am too, was a lot. Then her adding on the multiple mates idea just, had my mind reeling," Lily said letting him go as she laid back. "We'll figure this out. All of us. "
"So now that this is sort of settled we have some other news for you. For the last few years I have been trying to track down your family, now known as your guardian family. All the places I found out clues or rumors to I checked out but the last 2 on my list. One was ruled out because Max here told be about the location. And the other we figured all of us could take the trip to see whats there," Dimitri explained laying out their plan. Lily had a surprised look on her face as she heard him speak about how he tried searching for her family. "You went looking for my family?"
"Yes, you told me it was the only thing you ever really wanted and I hoped it would show you how much you meant to me. Was I wrong?" Dimitri asked leaning in closer to her. She reached for his face holding his cheek saying, "No you weren't wrong. I see you and I'm glad I mean something to you."
"I'm going to give you guys a minute. I'll go check on Wade," Max said getting up heading out the door.
"This is going to be an adjustment for all of us, isn't it?" she asked concerned for Max. "We'll figure this out as we go. From what you said the rules will be different for us and any other mate you take. For now lets get used to what we have and make it work as best we can," Dimitri said moving to sit on the bed putting an arm on each side of her legs, "I wanted to do this differently, but I hope you know I was always serious about you. And it took me every ounce of discipline I had not to mark you each time I took your body."
Looking him in the eyes like she was, Lily could see just how serious he was as his heart shined through. "I do. And I'm glad its you that will be my dragon mate. I couldn't see myself with any other dragon," she said leaning in brushing her lips against his. Dimitri didn't need anymore encouragement to finally do what he had been wanting to do for years, and mark this woman as his mate.
