Chapter 44 - Rash Decision

Max was in shock as he watched his mate sprout wings and fly off. "Did that just happen?" Dimitri and Wade looked at him nodding yes. "Look I can follow her, but you need to give her space. Go back home and handle your family. Its been long over due," Dimitri said stripping down, putting is cloths and boots in a back pack then taking a giant leap he shift mid air into a deep blue dragon.

Max shook his head not wanting to believe what happened. What did I do? Was all he could think walking out of the Dragon Palace to his car. Wade took his keys which didn't offend him as Max got into the passengers side. Wade pulled out heading back to the Royal City concerned for his friend and Alpha. "Max. Hey man she never leaves for long. She always comes back home. I seen it plenty of times over the years," Wade said trying to cheer up Max, "Plus now you can deal with your parents and Alisa."

Max thought about this knowing it had been long over due for him to take down the people who had hurt the most important person in his life. His father while a wise man tended to be greedier then most keeping things to himself and taking over certain peoples estates. Max never agreed with it, but most people felt they were doing their duty by giving the Alpha king their property, but it was always some side hustle.

"Wade, how many spies do you have around my father?" Max asked and idea forming. "Four, but one is on leave. Why is there something you need to know?" Wade asked curious about what he was thinking. "Have them come back. I think he's planning something, and I want to know what. Knowing him there's more then one Clan involved," Max said thinking of the few Clan leaders his father had influence with. His mind kept going back to Lily and all he wanted to do was follow her. Lily I'm sorry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All her emotions hit her at once finding out that Max new who she was, maybe not the goddess part, but definitely the part about being from the lost bloodline of the Wolf Pairing. Of all the things he kept from her this one hurt the most. It would be a while before she trusted him again. Then the Alpha king of the Wolf Clan knowing and using her like is personal servant or broker. She slave for him for years and didn't so much as get a thank you from him. If she hadn't done all his foot work he'd have looked like a fool in front of businessman or Clan's leaders.

F*cking prick. What did he think he was going to get out of me? Loyalty? Obedience? F*ck that! She flew harder not caring that her back was killing her as she had never flown before. She could also hear wings behind her beating to keep up with her. *Lily slow down. Running won't solve the problem.*

Lily knew he was right, but right now that's how she felt and she needed a distraction from the pain. Bellowing her wings out the air pulled her back as she landed on Dimitri's back grabbing a hold of his neck. She tucked her face as tears started to fall her wings disappeared leaving feathers in the wind. Dimitri kept flying heading to the north knowing that's where she was heading.

Dimitri didn't try to talk to her again just letting her rest on his back while he made the journey for them. The sun was setting as he searched for the near by town they could stop at for the night. Seeing a small group of lights to the east he steered that way looking for a clearing to land in. Just out side the town was a cleared field so he made his decent landing gently. Lily stirred lifting her head as he landed. She was about to dismount when he slowly changed back to his humanoid form holding her in his arms holding her just under the knees and just below where her wings would be . "I can walk," Lily started to say but he just continued to walk into town. Remembering he need to dress he stopped for a moment setting her down to get dressed then lifted her back into his arms again walking into the small town a few yards away.

Lily didn't fight him and snuggled in closer while he walked. "Where are we?" she asked him. "Just south of the northern border. Its getting dark and while I can handle the cold up there I'm not sure if you could. We'll rest here for the night," Dimitri said stoically walking to a large looking house with a sign out front. She didn't ask anymore knowing he was probably irritated that she just flew off.

Walking into the inn he set her down once inside the door. He walked over to the owner inquiring about a room for the night. Lily walked to the fire warming her hands a bit, a child was sitting next to the hearth playing with their toy dragon. It looked to be a wood carving and well done she thought. The child looked up at her a bit of a confused seeing her ears. She raised a finger to her lips and the child understood smiling. She smiled back turning around to warm her tails and backside. She felt a tug on her tails looking down to see the child touching them. Lily flicked her tail a bit causing the child to giggle.

Dimitri watched the scene with interest noting that she would be a good mother in the future. She lifted her tail a bit tickling the child under the ear a bit making him giggle louder. He didn't want her to draw too much attention to herself so he walked over wrapping his arms round her gaining her attention. "I've got us a room. Lets go rest in there for now. You, keep her secret, okay?" he asked the child who instantly knew who he was nodding he's head yes. "I promise, sir."

Dimitri nodded leading Lily to the stairs. Going up the stairs they made their way to the room the owner said they could occupy at the end of the hall. Opening the door it was a decent room, clean and fresh, a bed, tables, sitting chairs in front of the fire which was roaring. Lily stepped to the table taking off her swords and hat then hanging her coat on a hook. Turning to face him she was a bit nervous as she basically threw a tantrum flying off like she did.

Dimitri had taken his coat off sitting in one of the chairs facing the fire. Knock at the door came and the owner came in with warm food and two steaming cups. "Thank you," Lily said reaching for one of the mugs. The owner nodded leaving shortly after checking the fire. Dimitri didn't say much waiting for the door to close.

Lily sat down in the chair next to his as he looked at her blankly. She fidgeted in her chair waiting not sure what to say. "You know what's coming next right?" Dimitri asked in warning. "Yes, sir. I I...think I do," her voice shaking a bit waiting for him to make the next move.
