Chapter 50 - Calling in reinforcements

Dimitri had seen similar shadows years ago when a friend went missing, but it had been many years since that incident happened. Not wanting to risk their lives Dimitri grabs Lily around the waist throwing her over his shoulder and taking off before they could get down the cliff. "Hey wait!" Lily tried saying but he ignored her heading back to the village they were staying at. Finding the path he sets her down looking back to see if any followed them. None had but that was strange since the last time he encountered them years ago they were charging after everyone.

"We could have taken them, why did you run?" she asked a bit irritated arms crossed over her chest tails twitching. "This is not my first encounter with these creatures. Back when I was a teenager just starting my training the masters put me through several trials trying to get me to quit. One of the trials was patrolling the entire northern border. It took me three days to do the whole patrol and on the third day that's when I seen them. They had attacked someone circling the man about to take him down."

Lily looked a bit shocked that he had seen these creatures before and even more so because he had been alone. "I flew over the area breathing out fire, but that didn't seem to phase them. They just screeched and attacked the man. It was a slaughter as they tore him apart. I tired laying more fire down, but by the time I could get close enough they would jump trying to pull me down. I couldn't save the man." Dimitri was a man of honor and he never ran from a fight so for him to retreat like he did hit him hard.

"Hey, you tried that's more then some of your family would have done. Most would have ignored the scream and kept flying. Did you ever find out what the creatures are?" Lily asked. He shook his head no as the got to the inn. Lily got the feeling that their was more to the story then he was telling her, but he would tell her when he was ready. They stayed silent as the went to their room walking in to see Dax sitting in one of the chairs.

"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes? Its good to see you. I'm sorry I ran off to the north I know your not fond of the cold," Lily apologized walking up to Dax giving him a hug. Dax returned it looking to his prince a worried look on his face. "My prince, was it as you suspected?" Dimitri nodded saying, "Yes, and we are going to need reinforcements. I would normally ask our own people, but because this is related to Lily's Pack we need to keep the group small." Lily had a feeling she knew where he was going with this.

"We need to ask Max and Wade to make their way here. If they have anyone they can trust bring them. I know this isn't what you wanted, but you didn't see what they did to that man. It also seems that they haven't changed much in the last few decades either." Dimitri said pouring himself a drink watching Lily shake her head no. Lily was still pissed at Max and asking for his help right now just felt like fuel to the fire.

"Lily you can't keep being mad at him. Aside of a few Alpha's that I can think of no one knew who you where. It was not as obvious as the Wolf king makes it sound. And if your going to be mad at him for knowing but not knowing you might as well be mad at me," Dimitri said sitting down in the chair next to hers, "Max probably felt the same thing I did when I first met you and didn't know what it was."

She thought about it knowing that she was the last of a bloodline as well as a goddess in physical form, and unless you knew what you were looking for in her. Sighing she looked to Dimitri annoyed that he was right again. "You suck, you know that?" He smiled kissing her cheek as he says, "Mind link him. We are going to need all the help we can get."

Lily sat back in her chair reaching for Max's connections hoping he wouldn't block her, "Max? Max? Can you hear me?" She waited for him to respond. "Lily oh thank the Goddess! Where have you been? I couldn't reach you," Max said worry in his voice. "I'm okay. Sorry for running off we'll have more time to talk about that later. I'm in need of you help," Lily said with urgency in her voice.

"What do you need?" Max asked concerned for her. "We flew to the northern area where my pack might be hiding and ran into some shadow creatures Dimitri had seen in the past. We will need trusted people to come help us as we don't know the whole situation with the creatures. Can you bring Wade and Cassie maybe a couple others you trust?" Lily asked.

"I'll see what I can do. What village are you in?" Max asked as Dimitri answered this time. "We are at the village of Tuts just before the mountains begin. Don't tell anyone where you are going and if your people need help keeping the chaos you started in check let my Captain know. She always has her squad at the ready."

"Thank you I will let my Gamma know. We should be there in a day or two at most. Sit tight you guys." Max said about to cut the connection when Dimitri added. "Max, call Trinee she'll make sure to send trusted dragons to fly you all out here." "Alright, see you soon." Max said cutting the connection.

"Well I guess now all we can do is wait for the cavalry to arrive. I'm going to go grab a bit to eat and check out the village. I'll be back," Lily said grabbing her hat heading for the door. "Are you sure that's wise? Most people will let it slide the first time they see you, but your tails and ears are not common here. Stay here and Dax will grab our meals," Dimitri said a knowing look on his face.

"Yes, my lady, I will be back in a few moments," Dax said walking out the door. Dimitri could see the pout on her face as she sat down on the bed. "When I ascend my throne I promise to bring you back here okay? I just want to keep a low profile so my father or brothers don't send there people here making accusations."

Lily had figured it was something like that, but she was never one for being couped up all day. They had only been gone for a few hours it was barely mid day. Dax came in with their food setting it one the table then moving to the door he says, "If there's nothing else I'll head to my room."

They were all alone now and Dimitri looked famished just not for food. "We still have something to finish from this morning don't we?" he said in a sultry voice.
