Chapter 1 - The Ring

The ground was red, it stretched out as far as I could see, bodies lay on the floor in a pile, i was one of those bodies, I lay sprawled out at the very bottom.

From within, something moved, scaling the mound of bodies.

"Gasp" I woke immediately, surprised then calm, Just a dream, I thought, I raised my head to stare at the person who woke me, Alexandra, she had a small face with radiant brown skin that was practically shining, dressed in a white shirt and a black skirt, she was pretty, that was a fact.

I rubbed my eyes a little from the sleep, I gave her a hard stare, as hard as i could with sleepy eyes, she met my gaze and hit me on the head again, i winced letting it happen.

"School's over go home" She said. Groaning I rose to my feet, I was taller than she was, but then I was 6 feet tall and quite proud of my height, we walked out of class together as we always did.

I don't usually talk to anyone else, and I was the first person she met when she came to the school newly, though she had made new friends we still always walked home together.

"You need to stop sleeping in class it'll hurt your grades" She said. "Classes need to be less boring then, plus my grades are fine" I replied as I looked around the streets, peaceful as always, there's rarely any crimes at night, I rubbed my eyes again as I yawned, I caught her staring at me "I wonder what you do at night" she said, I smiled not answering the indirect question and so she dropped the topic.

"I have a job" I said walking faster then turning around to face her, I looked into her eyes dark brown pearls on a white background and said with the straightest face I could muster "I'm batman".

Her face cringed so badly I almost broke my straight face, then she kicked me "You should be more serious in both studies and character" She said while totally ignoring my batman comment. "School is currently the most useless chore I have to do in my life, I can't wait to graduate."I said "Then what?"She replied. "leach off of my parents obviously, if I do want to work I'll let my mum get me hired or something" I replied smugly.

"Imagine we ignore the fact that it's wrong of you to just get a job by leaching off your parents what would you do at a hospital?" She said raising an eyebrow, the expression brought a smile to my face "well there's much to do there, it's a really large hospital I could sit at a desk and monitor things on computers like some tech guy or something"I replied.

I watched her cringe again and we argued on how things are meant to be till we reached her house and I dropped her off.

"Sigh" I checked my watch for time before taking it off my hand and chucking it into my bag,the bag was big with many hiding spots for items.

I started to jog, slowly at first then steadily picking up speed, my house wasn't far off but I wasn't heading there, not now.

Minutes later I looked like I was sprinting and after many more minutes I finally arrived, the entire area was bright. I looked at a big building with bright signs shining in the middle of the afternoon ahead of me, One of them, the biggest and brightest simply said "THE SPOT".

I walked towards it calmly and slowly it had no fences, making it look weird around the other fenced houses, till now I'm uncertain whether it's a statement or just pure laziness on the part of the owner but fenceless buildings always made me feel weird especially since every other building was fenced.

I nodded to the guards on standby and they nodded back, one came towards me and led me to the back of the building, the door at the back led to some wooden stairs.

The building was a nightclub, the biggest in the city but I wasn't here for the club, deep underneath it hid the best part, bleachers packed in a ring, the smell of sweat filled the air with a damp moisture the cheering was maddening and contagious.

Further down from the wooden steps opposite the door was a huge platform erected with soft padded wires as bars, I breathed in the air, it was foul but I loved the high it gave me. This was The Ring, and with it my life was complete.
