Chapter 2 - Superhuman

2 Superhuman

The underground fights didn't pay well, but it was enough, betting was allowed and so the heads made a lot of money, apparently enough to run a club, or maybe it was the other way around I couldn't care less. I watched the two men fight below me as I took a seat on the bleachers, the fight below couldn't keep my attention, both were tired they were most likely in their 7th round or so, they weren't popular fighters but people cheered them on anyways, everyone was eager to see two people fight till one can no longer.

I got out my hand wraps from my bag and wrapped them quickly, my fight was after this. The round ended and it went into rest time for the both of them, one of the competitors looked far more badly battered and his opponent looked confident as though his win was inevitable, it was the exact same feeling I felt as I waited for my match, but I have more of a reason to feel confident.

The world has known none like my kind, if I concentrated hard enough I could feel life itself, like gentle flames it outlined humanoid figures around me, I could feel it though I couldn't manipulate or touch it, unlike most people, my life force stayed close to my core burning fiercely and strongly it made my injuries heal quicker, my reflexes were sharper than many people could boast about, my strength was nothing someone at my age of 18 should have, I was superhuman.

The round ended in a Knockdown (KD) the crowd burst into a maddening frenzy as the referee counted to 10, On the floor lay the overconfident boxer. While I'd love to say I predicted it, I only did so because I could see the state of his life force, enough to know that winning the fight would have been tough for him, he must have been injured and yet continued to fight, I was never good or accurate when sensing such things but I could tell from the differences, though it was not like I was always right, but most of the time my prediction was accurate.

After all was through the ring announcer announced the next battle, my opponent got called out first, it was someone popular, a bulky man, quick for his size,he was a crowd pleaser adapting to his opponents, drawing in the crowd, overconfident and for a good reason. VIPER!! VIPER!! VIPER!! VIPER!! The crowd cheered and few people rushed to where they could place their bets without even waiting to see the other opponent. This fight was going to be interesting.

The Crowd quieted down... relatively speaking, it was still rowdy but everyone was paying attention now, the ring announcer started speaking again and I cringed internally, I knew it was a horrible choice from the first day, I always planned to change or simply run away to somewhere else, everything about it was torture, I didn't blame myself though, I was much younger about 2 years younger than now when I started, but that wasn't an excuse, I grabbed my bag, my cloth mask already on my face, it was fitted to stay on throughout my fights, the crowd got rowdy again as they could recognise who was being called "....We all know who the next contender is....,a dangerous underdog, and a persistent fighter give it up for...." I was glad my mask was on, from the very first day of hearing the name announced like that I was struck with dread and regret "Batmannnnnn..." the crowd got wild again, I had picked up a decent fan base.

Two years of fighting, many wins and equal losses, from my young age I battled those twice my age, with very few in my age bracket, The Ring didn't accept minors, not legally at least.

I stood and walked towards the ring proudly, not showing the embarrassment within. Crazily enough the crowd shouted my name chanting it without any of the embarrassment I felt. I stepped into the ring it was strong beneath my feet. I stood face to face with my opponent, my 6 foot frame wasn't intimidating anymore, not with all the bulk I didn't have, and when he still stood a head over me.

I smiled behind my mask, Shit has really gotten interesting .
