Shit has really gotten interesting. The bell rang and we circled each other, gauging, watching and taunting. He smiled throughout our eye battle, his eyes stared condescendingly into the slits in my mask.
Then he moved, he was fast, too fast for someone so big, feinting to my right side, I knew it was a feint because his energy gave it away.
His life energy flowed rapidly around his body, it was uncontrolled, weak. I punished that weakness, the VIPER was an open book to me.
I leaned into the feint instead of dodging, he wasn't ready to strike in that direction, I swung my fist, a heavy side hook followed by multiple jabs on both sides, I got hit in retaliation, a jab to the side of my cheek, but there was no force in it.
I was a heavy hitter for my lean frame, and my only aim in boxing was to punish the opponent. The VIPER was defensive the whole first round and so it ended quickly, cheers along with boos echoed through the walls, the area must be soundproof to avoid disturbances to those above ground.
The second round began and I could see it in the way the smile left the VIPER, he no longer under estimated me, I smiled beneath my mask, trusting my eyes to carry the message.
He waited for me to attack first and I obliged, gentle but agile steps took me closer to my opponent and I swung my fist.....Crap. my head swung back dangerously, I saw it coming but It was too late,I couldn't scream as blood rushed down my nose I had blocked the blow by crossing my arms while moving backwards but it was too much, my arms hit my face and I bit my lip, I was on the floor in seconds and the VIPER atop me all I could hear were screams and cheers as punch after punch landed on me. My blocking was pathetic. Every hit hurt and soon enough the round was over.
All it took was a hit, I stood dazed as the referee buzzed around me like a fly, muttering words my dizzy brain couldn't catch. Too cocky, I got too confident, there was a reason the VIPER was nicknamed viper, his strikes were not to be messed with. My eyes cleared and soon after the third round begun.
The VIPER was on guard throughout, he refused to drop it for a second as we circled each other, both wary of the other, I looked down at my wraps, they were bloody, my forearms hurt, my head was still dizzy and my ears were filled with Chants I swayed for a second, my eyes closed.
The VIPER true to his name picked up on the opportunity, I could sense his movements and I fell exaggeratedly out of the way of his punch, my eyes were wide open as I moved behind him punching him in the side, the impact was solid and my footwork kept me around him delivering jabs left and right.
I was wary of a counterattack but my hits kept coming, the crowd went crazy and their mad ravings washed over me, fueling my attacks, blood streamed from my opponent, his nose, lips and sides especially, And the moment when I thought this would go on forever the referee called us off.
My opponent was barely standing, but I too was in poor shape, getting pummelled by a man almost twice my age was something my superhuman body was struggling to handle. "huff.....huff...huff" Adrenaline fueled me. But my breaths came in ragged bursts, the trick i came up with worked perfectly but I didn't have much to give, being superhuman didn't give one fighting techniques.
Before this round started I knew it was the last round, it's either one of us now, and I was out of tricks. "So fucking dumb" I muttered to myself. I charged recklessly and surprisingly my opponent followed, we'd obviously both lost our minds, cheers erupted as we met fists leading.
I ducked under a hook hitting my opponent in the right side, the VIPER winced in pain spitting blood on my mask, Thank God it was black. My head snapped back. I got caught in a jab to the top of my head. Things were not looking good as I dodged another and another, I was loosing ground and I backed to the ropes as quick as possible.
The VIPER was wincing as he advanced and his right eye was swollen, I must have looked similar under my cloth mask. This was it I charged towards him as quick as my body let me. The sudden burst of speed shocked everyone, I could tell by the way the chants exploded around me. I was in the range of his punch in a second.
I had no intentions of loosing today, I dodged before he started moving. His move was transparent to my senses, but that didn't mean my body could react to it quickly enough.
Pain exploded in my left shoulder, that blow would have broken my jaw had it landed, underneath my mask I smiled despite the hit, my fist hit his lower chin, and his life force rattled in his body, boxing was dangerous, people can die by accident.
His eyes blanked, his eyes whitening and he crumbled to the ground, I moved to the closest rope to hold me standing. The referee counted down, but everyone knew that he wasn't getting up soon.
I had won the match. I was shaky on my legs as the referee held my hand up. I heard nothing but the cheers from the crowd. Even some of those who lost cheered for simply seeing a fight. In my dazed state only one thing was certain, I was proud of this battle.
