Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Tier

"10 bronze coins?"

"Yes, the swords are shabby, and all the items here are low grades. You take them back if you don't like my offer," the man spoke.

"I'll take it," Raze said, pushing the items over to him. The man brought out ten bronze coins and handed them to Raze with a smirk on his face.

He saw it, but there was nothing he could do; there was only one merchant in this village, and taking low-level items to the next village wasn't going to make it more expensive.

'Completing quests is better, I'll visit the spell shop before setting out on a much easier quest'

Raze exited the merchant store and went straight for the shop that sells spellbooks; he had 160 bronze coins, which should at least be enough to buy him another low-grade spell other than fireball.

Fire was one of the most destructive spells behind lightning, but as a low-level mage, he couldn't use lightning just yet.

Raze entered the spellbooks shop, it was bigger than the merchant shop, with two shelves and books arranged on the shelves.

There was also something he hadn't tested till now, one of the reasons why Nexon Online was one of the best games in the world was the NPCs.

The NPCs in Nexon Online had a feature no online game had: they could make independent conversation with you; in other games, certain things were programmed into the NPCs, and their speech patterns were almost similar, but it wasn't that way for Nexon Online.

"Hi there, what spell books are you looking for?" A lady behind stood up from behind the counter and asked as Raze walked in.

"Hi there, I'm looking for an F or E-tier spell book apart from Fireball," Raze replied.

In the game, everything had a tier: items, spells, weapons, beasts, adventurers, guilds, and the rest; the grading was from F-tier, which was the lowest, to S-tier, which was the highest.

"This shelf contains E-tier spellbooks. Feel free to browse through, though each of them cost 1 silver coin," the lady replied, and Raze turned towards her.

"1 silver coin for a single one, wait...1000 bronze coins makes 1 silver coin, so each of them costs 1000 bronze coins?"

"Yes, that's the normal price for an E-tier spellbook, is this your first time buying a spellbook?"

"Yes, I had no idea it was this expensive" Raze replied.

"I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do about the price since you're an adventurer you can make money by completing quests"

"I know, or maybe you have a quest for me?" Raze asked.

"Not really, my husband is also an adventurer" she replied.

"You're married?" Raze asked as the NPC in front of him looked so young.

"Yes, I have a son, though he's asleep over there," she said, pointing behind the counter for Raze to look.

"Hi Mary, where's your little angel" a woman spoke as she walked into the shop.

"Hi," she spoke as she walked past Raze.

"He's asleep" the shopkeeper replied.

"Oh, I wanted to play with him; what about your husband? Is he back from his trip?" The woman asked.

Raze turned around and exited the shop, he only had 160 bronze coins and wasn't expecting spellbooks to be as expensive, and the only reason he had 160 was because the rest of the players died.

He had something else he could see if he wanted. The goblins they killed had crystal cores that could be sold for money, but crystal cores had many uses, and the best one for a mage was that the Mana inside could be absorbed.

For mages starting at this level, the biggest problem was running out of Mana, and the Mana recovery rate was low; in a long battle, mages usually run out of Mana, but a knight doesn't run out of swords.

Raze currently had 8 goblin crystals; seven of them were F-tier, and the red cap goblin's crystal was E-tier.

He wasn't sure how much he could get for the crystal, but he wanted to complete another task; the last task was for a level 5 player, and he got 160 bronze coins.

Meaning all the rest of the task was definitely not going to pay up to that amount, but there was really nothing he could do; if he decided to sell the crystals and buy another spell, then he had to journey to the next village with two spells that consumed his Mana each time.

On the map he could see the next village and big darkness since he hadn't wandered into that area so he had to pass through the forest to reach the next village where he would face other creatures, in the beginner forest the beasts inside were from level 1 - 10 and it had a boss at level 20 but the boss was in a dungeon so he didn't need to worry about that.

"I've made up my mind" Raze muttered to himself as he went towards the quest board.

He stood in front of the quest board and looked at the available quest; the goblin quest had been taken down since it was complete.

All the quests there were gathering quests, and none of them required him to fight, which was good, but the money he would gain from them would be nothing.

"I should just ask"

Raze walked inside and the girl stood up, "Which of those quests pays the highest?"

"All of them are pay under 50 bronze coins, but if you want something more I do have a quest if you're interested" the girl spoke.

"I'm interested, what's the pay?" Raze asked.

"2 silver coins" the girls replied.
