Helena is in total control of the hall and she, on the other hand, has completely lost.
The mistress would win only if the main wife was vulnerable.
But Helena is nowhere near vulnerable.
She did not care about the mistress at all.
She never once talked about her and Vernon's relationship. Instead, she talked only about their families.
Jeffery and Ford families.
She looked like she only cared about the reputation of both their families. With just that one move, she had captured the hearts of both the family members in one shot.
All the rich people around cared about their reputations more than anything else as well. So they looked up to Helena's calm demeanor in the face of such a scene.
All the women in the audience couldn't help but feel envious and awe when they looked at her. They all couldn't help but wonder if they could be as calm as she was if they were to face such an incident in their lives.
The answer would definitely be a big fat no.
Even Vernon looked at Helena in shock.
What was happening?
Clearly, she wanted him to postpone the wedding. With her thoughts, he was sure his plan would be a success, at least, for now. Even if he couldn't completely cancel the wedding, he could stall it for a while and then slowly cancel it later.
He was happy that her thoughts coincided with his even though he did not clearly understand her thoughts.
But why was she pushing for the wedding to go forward now that she got what she wanted?
What exactly does she want?
As he was thinking, and his mind was in a mess, he saw Helena looking at him with a smile and asking him, "What do you think?"
Vernon moved his head in all directions, unclear if he was nodding or shaking, in a daze, and said, "As I said, I will follow whatever you decide."
Helena smiled, "Thank you."
But her thoughts were completely different, [Are you a man? What are you doing, leaving everything to a woman?]
"..." Vernon was dumbfounded.
He wanted to shout that he was a man because he was leaving everything to a woman.
That's what a gentleman ought to do.
But he can't say anything out loud. He had no choice but to swallow all his anger and words.
He looked around. The woman was already taken away. His family looked angry at him. The guests had an expression of watching a drama.
At the current moment, he couldn't do anything to stop the wedding. He was sure that if he took a step, his family members would beat him to a pulp.
He turned to look at his good friend, Tristan, hoping he could give him any idea.
Tristan looked back at him and shook his head understanding what he wanted from him.
How could he have so many evil ideas just like that? Until an hour ago, he didn't even know that his friend didn't want to get married. He was still in shock.
The only plan they had made turned out to be a big flop. From where could he come up with any more ideas to stop the wedding?
Vernon sighed in defeat. In a daze, he continued the wedding process with Helena.
He wasn't aware of what he was doing at all.
When he saw the ring on his finger, he was very much used to in his previous life, his eyes narrowed and a new sense of determination formed in them.
No matter what, he wouldn't let his wife destroy his family like she did again. He would keep her under his radar at all times and wouldn't let her harm anyone.
Just like that, the wedding came to an end. The guests were guided towards the food while the bride and groom were taken away to change their clothes.
But everyone knew that they were now going to deal with a certain pregnant woman.
The family went to a private room.
The groom's family and the bride's family went to two different rooms to talk among them.
As soon as only the Vernon's family was inside the room, his face was slapped hard.
Everyone was shocked.
Because everyone expected such a slap to come from Vernon's father but it didn't.
Instead, it was from a completely different person.
It was Vincent, his brother.
Everyone knew how much Vincent had doted on his brother. He had never once slapped him like that.
This was the first time.
"Vincent," his mother came to help her younger son.
"Mom, not now," Vincent said in his cold voice.
He had been cold since young. But the coldness in his voice today was entirely different. It wasn't from his aloofness but from his anger.
Even his parents didn't dare to speak a word at the moment under his bursting angry aura.
Vernon looked at his brother's angry face. His eyes reddened. But he did not say a word.
Vincent asked him, "Do you know why I slapped you?"
Vernon blinked his reddened eyes and answered, "Because I made a girl pregnant."
"No." Vincent immediately shook his head.
Vernon looked at his brother in shock. He couldn't understand anymore. The only reason he could think of for his brother's anger was that. Did he do something more wrong?
"You still don't know what wrong you have done?" Vincent pointed his finger at his face.
No one dared to breathe anymore.
Finally, Jemma stepped forward and placed her hand on his arm, "Calm down."
"Calm down? Do you think I can?" Vincent asked his wife but his voice had clearly turned softer when he spoke to his wife.
Jemma sighed. She clearly understood why her husband was angry. She gently pulled him a step backward and turned to Vernon as she asked, "Vernon, you are indeed wrong in this matter. Why do you have to do that? If you weren't happy with this marriage you could have told us before, right? Did anyone force you to marry?"
