Chereads / INCARNATION GONE WRONG / Chapter 3 - Mistake

Chapter 3 - Mistake

On the edge of the bridge between two of the tallest buildings, he lifelessly stands with a face still looking so numb. As a dry wind blowing his messy gray hair from behind, he takes a deep breath, braving heart and collecting courage to jump.

It's more than 100 meters, a height more than enough to send shivers down the spine of the most reckless man. Not having the courage to see how he will hit the ground, he lets his body fall with face looking up.

Oddly, right when he is ready to leave this shitty world…

"Such a beautiful sky!"

As he is free-falling in the air, a single ray of light breaks the cloud and hits him. It's as if a spotlight adding the dramatic scenery effect to his suicide attempt. It's so weird but he doesn't care anymore. So he simply closes his eyes in peace, trying to let everything go.

Oddly, even before he hits the ground, he already experiences a blackout prematurely, and…

Bug!

Nggg…

Blood flows out of his body wetting the ground, but there are still slight movements on his fingers. And then…

"Aaarrrrgh!"

Only a few seconds he lies there, he suddenly inhales the air to the maximum capacity of his lungs.

His face shows so much pain with blood wetting his mouth. As he slowly squirms on the ground with his broken spine, he whines with so much disappointment.

"Daaamn! That hurts!"

It's such a miracle for someone weak like him to still alive after that fall. However, once he tries to lift his right hand, he finds that hand hanging awkwardly with one of the broken bones sticking out of the skin. And of course, it's not only that right arm that has been broken.

"Haaaysh!!! Did he jump from up there? It's not that far. And look at what happened to this body!"

Somehow, the way he talks has completely changed. There's no sense of fragility in him anymore. He starts whining as he nonchalantly straightens his broken forearm, as if it's a trivial thing to do.

"Sooo weak! How am I going to complete my mission with a weak body like this?"

"That damn Elisha. Couldn't she even find me a better vessel?"

Despite the pain, he slowly adjusts some broken bones in his back. Finished with that, he deliberately bites his thumb on the left hand, and observes the wound.

"Let's see if I still have my regenerative healing factor!"

Indeed, the wound is slowly healing and closing, faster than ordinary humans. But still, he doesn't look enthusiastic by what he sees.

"Even an enchanting horny squid can heal faster than this."

"Oh, that's right! Why don't I delve into this young man's memory for now and learn something about his life."

Yes, you guess it right! This is actually Livne Atniel the Skywrath Comforter, who has just incarnated into Irvine's body. I know I'm not that good in plotting a mystery. So please, be easy on me.

Once he successfully delves into Irvine's memory, he finds himself floating above a vast plane. It's so wide and flat, with so many homogenous building complexes as far as he can see.

"What's wrong with this kid's mind? He has his own plane and world here."

He comes down and enters one of the buildings. Later he finds so many rooms inside, with certain numbers on the door. After entering the nearest room, he sees something that looks like a small galaxy inside.

"Finally find it, the nebula of memories!"

Once he touches that so-called nebula of memories, he instantly sees everything that Irvine has experienced today. There's the bullying, and also the vision of Irvine watching his girlfriend through a video phone call.

His cheeks blushes as he sees a girl having a gangbang with an orc, an elf, a human, and a two-headed ogre. Two seconds later, the blush turns into fury, and he immediately takes his face away from the infidelity.

"Oh, Lord! Please forgive this weak servant for letting these eyes see such filthy things."

This indecent act fumes him to the point he finds it hard to breathe. He can also feel Irvine's mounting anger, as if he experienced the betrayal and bullying himself.

But strangely…

"Eh? Where's the rest?"

That's the only memory he can see. Not satisfied, he rushes outside, opens the other door, and finds another nebula of memories.

Truth to be told, each room only stores a day of Irvine's memory, from the moment he woke up in the morning until he went to sleep again in the night.

"Does this mean…? Maaan! It will take years to finish all this shit."

He keeps moving from one room to another room. He watches how Irvine lived his daily life; from the way Irvine walk, how he liked his gray hair in a mess, and to little things like how he held his penis with his left hand when peeing.

"Dang! For someone skinny, his little brother is pretty awesome."

"He pees standing up, huh? Bad habit! Should I learn to pee standing up too?"

He keeps doing so, learning about Irvine's habit as much as possible, so that people won't notice any oddity when he uses that body later.

Finishes with one building, he moves to another one. But then…

"Elisha! How could you make a silly mistake like this?"

To his surprise, he finds Irvine standing in one junction on the street amongst those weird buildings, unconscious. There are also black tendrils like conduit cables attached to his head.

"How could he still be here?"

"Is he alive?"

"Hey, buddy! Are you okay?"

Once he pats Irvine's left cheek, something like electricity flows through the black tendrils and shocks Irvine's body. The next moment, Irvine's mouth and eyes are open, glowing in white.

It catches Atniel by surprise. And without him knowing, several other black tendrils crawl so fast on the ground behind him. They stab his back and then fuse into his body.

"What the… What are these things? No good! I have to get out of this place!"

Sadly, there's nothing he can do now. He tries to pull the tendrils off his body, but to no avail. He also finds it hard to move. It's like being trapped in a nightmare where you move so slow, much slower than what you believe you can do.

"Elisha!!! Can you hear me?! I need help!"

On the other hand, outside, Irvine's real physical body is convulsing and keeps floundering like a fish stranded on dry land.

Until at one moment…

"Aaaaarghh!!"

He suddenly wakes up, inhaling a deep breath before coughing hard, but now without spilling any blood. His face is pale, wet with cold sweat. And his stare look so blank.

As he still lies there on the ground, he sees the dark sky above with a clear view of stars and distant galaxies. There's also a clear full moon and a crescent one behind thin clouds.

"Two moons? Those are… No way! There's no fucking way!"
