Markkus had just entered his room to call it a day when he found Miranda sitting on his bed.
He frowned, "What are you doing in here?"
"Your mom sent me here. She wouldn't let go unless I came."
Markkus's brows relaxed, and he sighed. "Well, you– "
"It's okay, I'll leave soon. She has people spying on us. I shouldn't cause more troubles than I've already done."
"What do you mean?" He asked, not understanding what she was talking about.
"I mean, you and Evelyn. I've caused quite some misunderstanding. I'm sure she'll be mad, thinking we have something going on." She watched his reaction, saying, "If you want, I can go to her tonight and explain our relationship."
Markkus smiled at the mention of his mate, "Don't worry about it. She's not petty," he walked away from the entrance to take off his clothes. "I think the spies are gone. You should sleep early. The journey from Redmoon pack to Blackmoon pack must have worn you out."
Just when he said that, a knock sounded on the door. Miranda smiled, "I'll get it. You do your thing."
Markkus nodded and resumed taking his clothes off.
He didn't care about her romantically. Although they've been friends since childhood, attends 'The Lunar Alliance Academy', and had shared many memories together, Markkus's have never looked at her differently.
Opening the door, two maids entered the room, carrying trays.
"What's going on?" Miranda questioned.
"Pardon me, My Lady, the Luna ordered us to bring you two something light to eat…"
"I'm not hungry," Markkus said but the maid continued.
"...she said if we can't get you both to finish the meal together, we'll be killed."
Markkus frowned, "Why would Luna say that? Omegas are living beings too."
Miranda also looked unhappy. She sighed and said, "Well, it's just food. I'll finish it for both of us," she smiled and started eating.
Not long, she was struggling to finish one plate of porridge, let alone two. Her small pout made Markkus laugh.
"Give me that," he said, and she gave him the second plate.
"I thought you'd let me finish it all by myself," she chuckled lightly.
The atmosphere was lively as the two ate and talked, and the maids soon excused them.
Markkus didn't finish half of the porridge before he started to feel weird. His body was hot and his urge to have sex suddenly shot through the roof.
At that moment, he realized what his mother had done. He overturned the table, throwing everything to the floor. He was livid but had too little time to vent.
He dashed to the door, hoping to go find his mate before the drug took over his senses completely, but the door was shut from the outside.
He tried the window, but it was shut too. The beast in him roared. He tried to channel his energy to dispel the effect of the aphrodisiac but failed.
Miranda sat there, calmly watching him as he tried hard to escape.
It was the plan she made with his mother, so only his food was spiked.
The Lunas of Redmoon pack, and Blackmoon pack have been friends from their early age. The two women had made a promise to unite their families in marriage and now that such a promise was about to be fulfilled, they obviously wouldn't let a mere Omega get in between them, all in the name of mate bond.
When the drug fully kicked in, Markkus turned to see Miranda lying naked on the bed, playing with herself.
"Come to me, Markkus," she whispered, her fingers caressing her tender opening.
"Don't you like what you see?" She bit her lip and slowly licked her index finger, her eyes flashing with seduction.
Markkus groaned, as he moved closer to the bed.
…
Evelyn had raced far into the forest and finally stopped before a lake. She'd already transformed, and her body was covered with her wolf's fur, until she picked up a dress she'd hidden somewhere and put it on, only then did the fur retract.
The creatures shed their clothes when their wolves take over, but at the point of transforming back to humans, their furs are retained to cover their naked bodies, allowing them to retain some semblance of modesty, until they're fully clothed, then their fur retract.
This lake was far away from the pack, a good distance from prying eyes and wagging tongues. It was a secluded spot, one that Evelyn had discovered by chance during one of Napua's many escapades into the forest. Even Markkus didn't know of this place.
She thought to bring him here one day, but it always skipped her mind.
'It's been so long. I feel refreshed and happy.'
Evelyn chuckled, "I hope you'll have the energy to take us back. Otherwise, I might die before we get back."
'I think I can…'
Napua didn't get to finish when a sharp pain tore through the both of them. "Ahh!" She cried out and dropped to her knees, wrapping herself in a ball.
What was this feeling? Why was it tearing her heart apart? The bond between her and Markkus was weakening!
'Our mate, he's fucking another woman!'
Napua growled, her anger and possessiveness radiating through Evelyn's mind.
Evelyn's eyes widened in shock and pain. Despite the pain, she was in disbelief.
Why did he do this to her? Why did he betray her? Markkus of all people. The man who made her believe that omegas were living beings, omegas deserved happiness… Why did he do this to her?
It's been five years. She was sixteen, and he was eighteen, when they met and found out they were mates. They've been together for five years.
All those years, he always told her he wouldn't look at other women. He told her he was hers alone, and would sort out the status barrier. He told her…
Evelyn suddenly smiled bitterly amidst the pain that was tearing her apart. Tears rolling down her cheeks.
Who was she kidding?
She knew she couldn't keep him all to herself. She knew she couldn't be the Luna of the pack. She knew her place from the very start.
Despite that, she was in great pain. The man she loved with all her heart has betrayed her.
The pain was excruciating, like a knife twisting in her heart. She felt like she was going to die, and Napua's fury only added to Evelyn's distress. She could feel her wolf's desire to lash out, to attack the woman who was with Markkus.
Evelyn's mind was a jumbled mess of emotions, pain, anger, and sadness all swirling together as her vision and mind blurred from the pain that threatened to take her life. And then, she paused out.
Barak, who's been hiding behind the bushes, finally came out. He frowned when he saw her lying prone in the ground. He tried to wake her up but she wouldn't budge, but she was still breathing. Sighing with relief, he carried her and left.
