Vlad watched her struggling form with pursed lips. No one knew what he was thinking.
As the transformation reached its climax, Evelyn's body began to glow with a soft, ethereal light. And then, as suddenly as it had begun, the transformation ended. Evelyn lay on the stage, panting, her body trembling with exhaustion.
Not her or Vlad said anything for what seemed like forever. When she finally regained some semblance of strength, she sat up and looked around, only to realize she was the only one there - no Vlad, no crowd, and no adorned stage. There was only a bare platform with a few pillars and it was dark.
Evelyn groaned and sat with her back resting on the pillar. That was when she realized the changes that her body had undergone.
Her hands were shaking as she lifted them to examine her body.
Her dry and rough skin was rosy and glowing, and the callouses on her palm had vanished, replaced by a skin that was very soft to the touch.
