"You did but until then I didn't know about my sister's wishes. So propose to her and make her the happiest wife. Don't they say, Happy wife, happy life?"
Adrian kept quiet, his jaw clenching. Skye didn't wait for his confirmation and strolled out humming some songs. On the other hand, Adrian was fuming in fury. If he knew this was coming to bite him like this he would have never asked for her help.
Adrian took out his phone and dialled a number: "Bring me all the information you have on Evanthe Cooper. Also, pick me up at 10." Adrian instructed and cut the call. He picked up his glass and strolled towards the glass wall.
The city was still lit, the building lights making it no darker than the day. The roads that looked like rivers from the top glimmered in the cars' lights. After everything he had done, his empire might crumble with just one mistake.

Amellia was already in her bed when Cynthia arrived. If it weren't for the noises downstairs ruining her sleep, she would have gone back to sleep.
"Where is that ungrateful brat?" Cynthia's yell echoed through the house. Amellia walked out of her room to see the ruckus going on, Cynthia was in the living room yelling while Maria was trying her best to stop her from coming upstairs.
Amellia grunted, not one day of peace in this weird house. Having no choice she finally walked down the stairs meeting Cynthia's eyes.
"Mother. Don't you think it's too late for this ruckus?" Amellia remarked, her voice polite and calm.
Cynthia glared at her, almost grabbing her by the hair if Maria didn't interfere and stopped her.
"Get out of the way, Maria. I am going to teach this brat a lesson. This is all her fault!" Cynthia yelled trying to grab Amellia's hair.
Amellia sighed, still standing at her place. Her fingers massaged her temple. This was the reason why she hated talking to people who didn't seem to have acquired the basic senses.
"If you didn't sleep with that guy, you would still be engaged to Hayden and be betrothed. Nut no, you want to ruin my dreams. Giving birth to you was my biggest mistake. I should have killed you in my womb."
Amellia's body stiffened at those words as if her soul had been sucked out of her body. Her pupils dilated, staring into the abyss. Mistake…
"Now you want me to be a mother too. Don't forget I was brought to warm your bed and just give birth. Don't expect more than that. Giving birth to her was a mistake on my part" Young Amellia heard her mother's voice echoing through the chambers.
Her eyes peeked through the crack of the door. Her mother stood before her father, her golden hair glimmering under the candlelight. Her father stood in front of her, trying to silence her.
"Keep your voice low. Someone might hear you." Her father's voice was stern—a threat.
"Why should I? Everyone in this castle knows, your father brought me for you! I am your toy and I won't take pride–" Her mother's words were cut off as she gasped, touching her cheeks.
Unlike the calm man, Amellia knew her father was. He was nothing like that. His green eyes flickered with coldness as his arms grabbed onto her mother's hair harshly.
"I gave you the benefit to be a good mother and queen of this kingdom. But no, you wish to be a wh*re. Then be it." Amellia held down her gasp as she saw her mother fall on the ground, her voice begging for her father to let go grew louder in that cold room.
Amellia could only hug her doll, running back to her room. Like a coward, ignoring her mother's call for help. She could never forget the look of her, the blue eyes that never showed an ounce of her weakness. She remained prideful and still held onto her grounds.
"Do you think ignoring me would solve it?!" Amellia felt a sharp pain in her head. Her hands instinctively touched her forehead as a trinket of blood dripped down.
"Young miss." Maria audibly gasped, slowly reaching Amellia.
Amellia finally grasped onto the situation, she glanced down at the angel statue with spots of blood. A soft laughter left her lips, glaring back at her mother.
"You imbecile fool!" Amellia cursed out aloud making Maria and Cynthia stun. Unlike Eva, Amellia's usual tone was harsh, like orders freezing people to death.
"Stop wasting space with your stink. The foolish idea that you think that man even wishes to marry you shows your impeccable stupidity." Amelia strolled towards her. Her voice was calm and cold and her accent was a speck of royalty. "The fact I had to use the language of a petty commoner to convey my words shows your illiteracy." Cynthia was astonished with her daughter talking like some British royal from the Middle Ages. As if a ghost had taken over her, Cynthia couldn't help but step back at her words.
"A man of honour like his would never marry an illiterate like you." Amellia coldly stated, staring straight into her eyes. There was a difference between spitting ignorant facts and intentionally trying to harm her. She can adapt to many things but not things that harm her and her self-respect. She takes this nonsense from no one not even her so-called mother.
"Nice speech." An unfamiliar voice caught Amellia off guard. Her eyes instinctively went towards the direction of the voice, the same for Cynthia and Maria.
