Chapter 22 - A Big threat to the World

Likewise, Jaxyn faced off against a female student who was undoubtedly stronger than him.

Their match was intense, and the professors made their decision on the spot after closely observing the battle.

Almost every student passed the academy exam's second stage, with the exception of a few who engaged in careless combat, abusing their abilities and hurting their opponents.

All the students made their way up a hidden staircase that led from the underground chamber to the Academy's ground. The fighting arena and chamber had been beneath the Academy all along.

The students who failed the exam were instructed to return home, while the selected ones were asked to stay—apparently, the Academy's president had something important to announce.

Everyone stood in disciplined lines on the Academy grounds. Arvian, Jaxyn, and Lioren stood together, while the girl who had fought Jaxyn was right next to Arvian.

The ground shook a little before they could say anything, and a stage appeared before them. The Academy president stood on it, flanked by two professors. One of them was Dareth. The president held a microphone and prepared to speak.

Jaxyn nudged Arvian. "Oi, shitty monarch... why is Dareth up there?" he muttered.

Arvian smirked. "Looks like he really is a professor. Maybe he was just hiding it... from you."

Jaxyn sneered, but Lioren, who had been positioned between them, laughed before he could respond. "Shitty Monarch? Why is he calling you that?"

Arvian grinned. "Because he's the Muffin King."

Lioren laughed even harder. "Muffin King?! That's even worse!"

The girl beside Arvian, who had been quietly listening, covered her mouth and chuckled.

The student muttering was immediately silenced when the president's voice reverberated throughout the Academy grounds.

"Congratulations to all of you for officially becoming students of Azmaris Academy—the largest Academy in the world. This year marks a historic moment, as we have accepted the highest number of students ever. But let's get straight to the point.

A grave threat looms over our nation. Reports have spread of Velnoctene survivors—remnants of a bloodline long thought to be extinct. Not only are they alive, but they are rumored to be preparing for war against the world. Any innocent people who have encountered these survivors... have been slaughtered. Entire villages wiped out."

A heavy silence followed. Most students looked shocked, their expressions shifting to fear and concern—except for Arvian and Jaxyn, who remained unfazed.

"For those unfamiliar, Velnoctene is a powerful and dangerous bloodline. Our professors will provide more details later. As for the war... we do not know when it will begin. It could be tomorrow, next month, or even years from now. But one thing is certain—it will come.

Therefore, this year at Azmaris Academy will be different. Our focus will be on preparing all of you for battle. To determine the most capable warriors, there will be a series of tournaments. Only those who prove themselves will stand on the front lines.

That is all for now. Welcome to Azmaris Academy."

With that, the president stepped back, letting the weight of his words settle over the students.

After that, the students were given short black cloaks.

The Next Day

The students were gathered in the Academy grounds, buzzing with excitement, chatting eagerly about the upcoming challenges.

Arvian and Jaxyn stood off to the side, scanning the crowd for Lioren.

Lioren appeared suddenly behind them, panting, obviously having run to catch up.

"Hey, Muffin King! How's it going?" Lioren grinned at Jaxyn before turning his attention to Arvian. "And you, The Shitty Monarch, how's life treating you?"

Arvian didn't respond right away. Instead, he glanced at Jaxyn. "Got any ideas for him?"

"I don't know, you think of something."

Arvian thought for a moment, then smirked. "How about... The Green Onion?"

Jaxyn burst out laughing. "Oh, that's perfect!"

Lioren's eyes twitched. "Wait, what?! Why Green Onion?"

"Well," Arvian crossed his arms, "your messy green hair kinda looks like one."

Jaxyn grinned. "Yeah, and you're full of energy, just like a freshly picked onion!"

Lioren groaned, running a hand through his hair. "You guys are ridiculous."

Arvian patted his shoulder. "Welcome to the club, Green Onion."

Jaxyn laughed. "Muffin King, Shitty Monarch, and Green Onion—what a legendary trio!"

Lioren sighed. "I regret talking to you two..."

Every student went to the classroom they were told.

The three of them sat at the back: Arvian alone on the vacant bench, while Jaxyn and Lioren sat together on the bench next to him.

Suddenly, the girl who had fought Jaxyn the day before walked over and casually sat down next to Arvian.

Jaxyn and Lioren both froze, exchanging a glance of shock.

Arvian's eyes widened as well. She's the one who fought Jaxyn... I completely forgot her name. Why is she sitting with me?

Breaking the silence, she spoke up.

"Hey, are you comfortable with this? I don't have many friends, so this seat just felt right to me. Are you okay with it?"

Arvian blinked, his face turning red. "Y-Yeah... it's okay." He stuttered, caught off guard.

"Your name is Arvian, right? Well, we're from the same bloodline. I'm Astrea Nyxbourne."

"Y-Yeah, you're right..." Arvian replied, still trying to process the situation.

Meanwhile, Jaxyn and Lioren whispered to each other, and Arvian could practically feel their teasing energy. He knew they were going to make fun of him soon.

Before they could say anything, the door to the classroom opened, and a professor entered, silencing the students immediately.

It was Dareth.

And all of sudden the screen materialized in fromt of Arvian.
