Chapter 16 - Cruel and Crazy

Celine pushed herself up from her meditation. She thought it was funny how the people who called her crazy now didn't see the power-hungry monster that she was avoiding.

Celine in the past was created from harsh experiences so her personality was forced. She didn't know what she would've wanted if she hadn't been captured by humanity and forced to survive. However, now she had to discover it.

"What do I desire?" She pondered. Her first thought was immediately a loving life where she relaxed and lived with Aria peacefully in the Valerian Kingdom.

"But that desire is shallow. A lot of people want to have a relaxing life but what would they kill their enemies with? A comfy sofa? I need to look deeper and find a complex desire."

After an hour of thought passed by. "You're not getting anywhere, are you?" A noble king said to her as she pondered in silence.

A simple nod came from Celine as she eagerly waited to be instructed.

Arthur began speaking without pause. "You're not the first god I've met that had a hard time discovering what desire they would use to fill their divine power. The problem comes from the lack of experience to discover what you desire." Celine raised her eyebrows at that statement. She had plenty of memories, but she wanted to use none of them to fuel her power and ambition.

Arthur stared at her. It seemed she hadn't understood what he said so he let out a low sigh before explaining again. "You don't want to use the memories of the past to fuel your divine power, so make memories in the present." He paused and a sudden memory he had forgotten came up.

"Oh right, there's also an issue with a few of our noble families. They are starting to rebel for some reason but it is only a small alliance so I'll let you handle it."

Celine's face scrunched up in confusion. "The rebellion isn't supposed to happen for a couple years like last time," she said.

Arthur shrugged. "Who knows, maybe a god kicked a rock differently and things changed completely. They call it the Butterfly Effect. It works in your favor nonetheless because you need more life experience to manifest your divine power."

Celine yawned and stretched completely. She didn't want to leave the comfort of the castle at all. She knew how troublesome the world was going to get yet she simply wanted to indulge in laziness unlike last time. However, she was forced to take a stand and help out the king. "Duty calls," she said before leaving.

"So yeah that's basically the story," Celine said to a resting Aria on her bed. She was explaining the details of what happened and how she was now going to deal with some rebel nobles.

Aria initially shoved the woman away again and wanted to ignore her but couldn't. She was bored and resting after training so she let herself into the ramblings of Celine. Eventually, she found a problem with Celine's thinking.

"How will you handle the rebel problem?" Aria posed. It wasn't an easy problem to solve but Celine merely glossed over it like it was nothing.

"Oh," Celine paused from eating the delicious cookie in her hand. "I'll probably ask them to calm down and try to reach a peaceful conclusion. If that doesn't work I'll just kill them all."

Aria looked her as she ate a cookie as if it was delicious thing in the world after what she had just said. "You're still having a hard time forgetting your past habits," she mused.

"Yeah, well I wanted to be peaceful. I am being forced to handle the situation so I will do what I've always done. Survive and display power," a devastating cold glint shone in her eyes. Right now, there wasn't a crazy woman munching on snacks, but a cruel god who had killed thousands and survived countless tragedies from the tower to ascend from the mortal weakness.

"Then, after all of that, I will settle and grab a cookie," Celine took another bite nonchalantly, as if she hadn't threatened the lives of many a few seconds ago. "Damn, these are good!"

Just as Celine was about to leave, Aria could be seen putting on a royal outfit and grabbing a sword. Celine looked at her with surprise. "You're coming?" She asked.

"Some idiot is will kill hundreds in my kingdom if I don't come," she said while walking to the door. "Can you even solve things diplomatically?" Aria thought but didn't say. She felt that the woman was too annoying and uncaring for others so it would be impossible for her to be diplomatic. After all, Celine had barged into her room again just after being kicked out.

Aria was going to leave through the door but Celine pointed at the window.

"Absolutely not," Aria refused. "My flying will disturb the normal citizens and-"

Little did Aria know, Celine wasn't asking and immediately grabbed her mid sentence. Celine had taken Aria and jumped out the window with grace, shattering the glass. "I'll pay for the damages!" She yelled and put Aria on her back.

Aria was startled and nearly activated her lightning to destroy everything but saw the beautiful scenery of her kingdom. The people she had sworn to protect and her pride of living was all below her as a small violet radiance kept them in the sky. Usually when she flew, the wind made it hard to keep her eyes open but the purple power around her easily solved that problem.

Aria wanted to complain and wanted make a hassle out of this situation. Aria knew Celine could've had Aria fly beside her but she had chosen to carry Aria on her back instead. However, all of those thoughts crumbled at the peaceful flight.

"This isn't romantic at all," Aria helplessly mumbled and held onto Celine's back, admiring the view below her.

"This girl is somehow cruel and crazy," Aria thought.
