"Hello, star boy." Marco Reus said with a smile. Riley was stunned for a second. This was the senior team's top guy, the talismanic captain. Here he goes calling him a 'star boy' how could Riley not be stunned. "Riley, My name is…" Marco was about to introduce himself when Riley interrupted.
"Marco Reus. That's your name. One of my idols. Definitely in my top 5. I know who you are sir… oh sorry for interrupting." Riley quickly apologised. "Don't worry about it. Im glad Im someone you look up to. Gives me great pride." Marco said with a chuckle.
"Can I help you with anything sir?" Riley asked Marco who immediately had a serious look on his face. "Look Riley, you are a good footballer. At such a young age you are already producing these kinds of performances. It's incredible." Marco said and that brought a smile on Riley's face. Marco continued, "I don't expect whatever Im going to say to you to actually impact you in anyway but I hope some of it does… this sport brings with it burdens. It's helpful to have a strong mind to navigate it." Marco advised.
Riley listened to every word. Marco obviously didn't know Riley that much because Riley was going to take every advice or critique that would allow him to be a great footballer. Marco continued to advise Riley and he absorbed every word like a sponge.
"To be the best, you need discipline. I hope you reach the top, I really do. However it rests on your shoulders, think you can do it?" Marco locked eyes with Riley expecting an answer, Riley didn't disappoint. "Of course. The top is the only destination for me." Riley said with resolution. "Good, hahahaha" Marco was pleased at his attitude. The two continued to talk for a few more minutes.
"You should probably go change and take a shower now. Good luck kid." Marco said, Riley nodded and was about to get in the door when Marco called him one last time, "What rank am I in your top 5?" Marco asked with a smile. Riley who had gotten along with Marco proceeded towards the locker room door but before he disappeared he held out 4 fingers.
Marco chuckled at his antics, "Only #4, why am I so low. Hmph." Marco pouted playfully.
England, London in a beautiful mansion.
"He is good. I hope he would sign for Chelsea someday." A middle aged man said as he closed the laptop. Kiara who was watching the live broadcast of Riley's match with her husband chuckled at his words. "I heard from Kenan that he said the only English club he would play for is Liverpool. I guess that's your dream down the drain." Kiara said as she kissed her husband on the cheek.
Mr Benson pouted at his wife's words and looked away. "You seeing him this weekend?" Kiara nodded, "Good luck, he seems a good lad though. He probably will understand why you couldn't be there for him growing up." Mr Benson said.
"Me too, I hope he understands." Kiara said before flashing a sad smile.
