Chereads / The Rise of Victoria Seras / Chapter 21 - 21. Old Walter.

Chapter 21 - 21. Old Walter.

Chapter 21

When Walter and I first entered the estate, a gloomy Integra and a smiling Alucard walked past us.

"She looks upset. Maybe the day of the Round Table conference is already known?" I thought as I continued walking.

"Good instincts, policewoman! Yes, the conference is scheduled for September 3rd. It looks like all your predictions are really coming true." I heard Alucard's voice in my head.

"Master?"

"I assume that during this event, Hellsing's forces will be destroyed?"

Hearing the master, I sighed heavily and replied, "Yes, all but the eight soldiers who were sent on the mission before the massacre began will die."

"Ha-ha-ha-ha, how funny."

"Yes, yes. Sorry, but I'm not in the mood for fun when I'm covered in this filth. See you soon, Master."

By the time I finished talking to Alucard, Walter and I had reached the entrance to the bathroom. Walter went in first and put my change of clothes and a towel in before leaving.

- Walter?

- Yes?

- What do you think makes a person bad?

- You're asking this now? - Walter was surprised by such strange behavior.

- Please answer.

"I think it's when a person decides to do something vile before they actually do it. If it was done by accident, then they're not a bad person," Walter replied after a few seconds of thought.

- Is it true?

- Well, what do you think about it then?

- Hmmm... I think it's when the bad outweighs the good. If someone does 10 good things and 5 bad things. They're still a good person.

- Even if that bad thing is extremely disgusting?

- What I'm saying is that in my opinion, good and bad have the same meaning. If someone kills someone, he has to save at least two people from death in order to become good again. Even if someone has done something absolutely disgusting, if he has done more good than that, I still think he is a good person.

- Really? That's a very optimistic view of the human world, Seras.

- Yes? Well, I just think of it as an equivalent exchange. It takes more determination to save someone than to kill them. If someone can do that, then I think they're a good person.

"Is that what you think of Alucard?" Walter chuckled.

- Yes! My master is the cutest monster in the world! - I answered happily.

- Heh heh heh, I think you're the only one who thinks so, Seras.

"As long as someone does that, he'll never become a real monster," I said, walking into the bathroom and closing the door.

"What a stupid girl. Even after everything she's been through, she still sees the good in others." Walter said quietly before walking away.

"Poor Walter. I need to figure out how to save him from himself," I thought as I undressed.

"In what universe is there something that can help him? He wants to fight Alucard on equal terms before he dies. Maybe I should get the horse and dog talismans from Jackie Chan Adventures? Will they be able to restore him to his prime?"

"Age can be considered a damage to the body, but can talismans reverse it?"

"Plus, I'm clearly not only in Hellsing Ultimate, but in a literal jumble of different versions of Hellsing, and I don't want to look into the future, otherwise I might ruin my surprise. - With a heavy sigh, I finally went into the shower.

Ten minutes later, I was completely clean and in my new form, I went outside. Looking around, I saw that Alucard, Integra and Walter were waiting for me near the helicopter.

- Oh my God! I'm sorry, I didn't think you'd wait for me. - I ran up, bowing my head in apology.

- Did you think that I would leave you with the soldiers who hate vampires, and I would return home?

- Well... yes. You are very busy after all, Sir Integra. - I answered awkwardly.

"I'm never too busy to take you home," Integra said softly.

- How motherly, Master. - Alucard said mockingly.

"Shut up, stupid vampire!" Integra screamed before getting into the helicopter.

Her reaction made the three of us start to laugh a little and we followed her and got into the helicopter.

- How did it go, master? Did you have a lot of fun?

- Yes. Yes, I had fun, police girl. Thanks for letting me have such a good time.

- Please! - I answered happily.

After the helicopter took off, the Hellsing soldiers stayed behind to clean up before heading home. Meanwhile, John, slightly shaking, asks his shocked colleague.

- Do you understand what I meant, Stephen?

- When she left that building, she was covered in blood and organs! How can she smile in that condition?! - Stephen screamed hysterically.

"That's because she's crazy, a mad monster who enjoys murder and mass slaughter," John replied.

- It's even scarier because she's actually just a little girl!

- Hm? What do you mean? Isn't she as old as that man? - John asked, confused.

- No! She turned into a vampire only a month ago. She's much younger than you and me! She's crazy!

Meanwhile, while two soldiers were gossiping about me in the helicopter, Integra asked us about what happened.

- What happened, Alucard? How come you let Seras get hurt while working?

- My head was cut off, and you ask how a policewoman got injured? You are wounding me, Master! - Alucard said, theatrically clutching his heart.

- Shut up! You get shot, cut, and torn apart on every mission. This is the first time she's been hurt this badly! Explain! - Integra screamed.

- That's not quite true, is it, policewoman? - Alucard said smiling, looking at me.

- What? What does he mean, Seras? - Integra asked me loudly.

- Well... um... when the master turned me into a vampire, he first shot me through the right lung to shoot the vampire who held me hostage in Cheddar. - I said quietly and a little hesitantly.

- He shot you in the lung?! With his personal pistol?

- Uh... yes.

- Alucard!!! - Integra screamed in anger.

- It's all right, Sir Integra! He asked me before, and I agreed myself! It's not his fault! - I hastened to defend the master.

- See? She's fine. And it's not the first time she's had a hole in her body. - Alucard chuckled.

- Seras? Do you really agree with what happened?

- Yes, that suits me just fine. Besides, the vampire wouldn't have let me go anyway, plus a couple of minutes later everything healed! - I answered with a smile.

- Good. Anyway, how did the mission go? Alucard, did you kill the vampire before Anderson showed up?

- According to Anderson, he killed the vampire before we arrived.

- Why was Seras covered in blood then?

- That's because the ghouls remained even after the vampire died, - Alucard answered smiling.

- It's impossible! For centuries, ghouls have disappeared after the death of a vampire!

"What if someone is creating fake vampires?" I asked, intervening in the conversation.

"It's impossible!" Integra screamed in disbelief for the umpteenth time.

- Actually, that may be true. There have been more vampire attacks lately than ever before, and almost none of them look like real vampires. They can't regenerate, and they're incredibly weak. They seem like defective fakes that were thrown out of the factory. - I continued right after the woman screamed.

- ...That seems to be true, - Integra agreed with me, extremely surprised.

"I'm going to order an autopsy on one of the vampires we killed. If it turns out to be true, I'll have something to say to those old farts at the round table," Integra said with a slight smile after a few seconds of thought.

- Ha-ha-ha – I laughed awkwardly.

- Thank you, Seras, you may have just uncovered the reason for all these atrocities that have been happening in our country lately. But most importantly, you gave me a lifeline to take revenge on these fossils. - Integra thanked me kindly.

- Sir... I think if you say anything more about age, Walter will start crying. - I said awkwardly, looking at the shaking Walter, who seemed to have been stabbed several times in the heart.

- Ah! Walter, you know I didn't mean you. I meant that bunch of people who always try to blame me for all the sins of the world. I'm sorry, Walter. - Integra said, slightly panicked, seeing the butler's state.

- It's all right, Integra, I'm an English gentleman. Wisdom comes with age.

- Yes, for example, I have 6 centuries of wisdom and the body of a 28-year-old. - Alucard said with a mocking smile.

For Walter, these words were like a punch in the gut, and he began to look thoughtfully at the door.

- Walter, don't do this. I know you're in pain, but trust me, if you give me a little time, I'll find a way to help you. - I said seriously, grabbing him.

"Don't be ridiculous, police girl. Walter isn't that weak."

"Yes, he is strong. However, age makes you look at your life differently."

"Does this have anything to do with your past life? What's going on with Walter?"

"I won't say it. Even if you hate me for it."

Alucard looked at me silently until he finally sighed, admitting defeat.

"I won't hate you, policewoman. Walter is just one of the few people who has earned my respect in my long existence."

"I know, Master. That's why I won't tell you."

"It's clear."

We spent the rest of the flight in silence.
